Great location. 50%+- remodeled, bathroom nice, and fixtures nice. Bed was good. Nice Satellite tv options with movie channels and options. Dirty carpet. We strongly suggest mgmt Remove carpet and put in hard floors. Smells were bad in hallway and room. The breakfast was not good. Remodel breakfast room. Not expensive to make minor changes. I ate there but not very .....appetizing
The property was clean but very run down. The floors were lumpy and crooked under the carpet. It did not look like it had any improvements in many years. The place was so crooked the bathroom door would not shut unless you yanked on it and the window would not shut and lock completely. Staff was nice and bed was comfortable but pillows were somehow miniature?
The Chick-Fil-A across the street was a big winner with my son! Good location for our visit to Iowa State.
This is a basic hotel, and a great deal for the price. The windows partially open so you can get (relatively) fresh air. There is a fridge. The sheets are cotton. There is breakfast. Bring your own pillow -- but it worked for me. Little idiosyncratic, but for the price -- can't beat it.
Very convenient for visiting Iowa State University
HEATER RAN TO HOT EVEN ON LOW WAS LIKE A SAUNA NEVER SHUT OFF
Do not stay here! Within 30 minutes we saw and killed 2 cockroaches! The gentleman checking us in was beyond nice and professional. You don’t always find people as friendly and helpful and this young man. I really felt sorry for him when my husband went to tell him we would need our money back because we were leaving. He apologized over and over and called the owner. The owner wanted to know how long we were there and if we used the room. I’m not really sure that should matter when we come to you with photos of cockroaches. As if the bugs weren’t enough, the room smelled awful! A cross between rotten food and mold. The blanket had some sort of brown crusty stuff, the walls were filthy, the air vent in the bathroom was missing the cover and was beyond gross. It was moldy and dirty! The light above the shower was missing the cover so the lightbulb was exposed. The fixtures were broken and hanging from the wall. I really have no idea how this hotel would pass any sort of inspection. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.
Not clean, needs updating. Will not stay again. Do not include.
For the price I expected an average hotel. The non-smoking room smelled like a smoky bar so we asked to switch. We were woken up at 11:30 pm by call from the next shift asking us why we were in that room. He was apologetic and I understood wasn't his fault that he didn't know. The bathroom ceiling was rusty. The room had been partially remodeled by the craftsmanship was poor. Being within walking distance of downtown is it's only selling point.
Good place. Neat and clean. Located at calm place.
This is an ok place to stay. Best rate I could find for a last-minute trip during a busy football weekend at Iowa State. Hotel is an older building but was reasonably clean. No smoking allowed, but room still had that stale cigarette smell. Check-in was quick and easy. Staff was friendly. Good WiFi. Room was quiet even though the hotel was full.
Helpful staff, room was clean, close to a lot of restaurants.
Breakfast condiments were not tended. No raisins and brown sugar was just hard scraped at bowl bottom. Room safety latch was broken.
Good price compared to other area hotels, and the room was clean and comfortable.
Loved having the fridge and microwave. Surprisingly quiet for a busy ISU family weekend.
They were nice at reception. The room was interesting as they didn't have the heating and cooling unit turned on. There were no tissues in the bathroom under the sink. They also had the alarm clock unplugged. I imagine this was to save money. Not a big deal, but unusual.
Although the hotel manager was very nice at check in, the hotel itself was not very clean, our room had flies! We couldn't change rooms as they were full and all other hotels in area were booked. Our refrigerator was missing. There is some major construction all around this hotel which is not their fault, however, it's till loud and annoying. Duff is a busy street that this hotel sits on. Parking lot was small and I noticed someone had a grill set up on the side so I wasn't sure how safe my car was there (who does this grill belong to?) I wouldn't stay here again.
When I arrived at the room, I opened the bathroom door and it smelt like cigarette smoke. All the towels in the room also had that odor. I talked to the supervisor about the smell of the towels and he told me that he doesn't know why they would since they use bleach, soap and softener. I was told that there is no way he would be able to help me or to give me a discount or make any changes to what has happened since it was made online. Everything was done and I couldn't be helped at all.
