The rooms are always clean and if you would have something wrong with anything the staff is very helpful. Breakfast is warm every morning and they had plenty of food and drinks to choose from. In the afternoon the man at the front desk is very friendly when we are checking in. I have stayed here for about a month now and going to come back for sure.

My family and I came down over thanksgiving to visit family. I searched high and low for a quality room. Since I am in the hospitality industry I am very particular on where I choose to lay my head at night. Everything about this property screams excellence. The room was spotless and beds very comfortable. The Fairfield inn and suites in Ames Iowa is a hidden gem. This is everything I come to expect from a Marriott property. Staff is very friendly and adheres to the 15-5 rules which is critical in any property. I wouldn’t stay in any other hotel. Thank you for allowing us to “travel brilliantly”

Used tripadvisor to narrow down for pet free and pool/hot tub. This seemed the only hotel that fit the bill for a visit to Iowa State. Used double queen suite and it had plenty of room. Wife thought queen beds small (but we have king at home). Easy checkin with Nick at night, who also brought extra blanket and sheets for the sleep sofa to the room right away. Shower okay, but hard to figure double shower head (twist knob on top separates two heads). Morning breakfast was good and well supplied.

We have stayed here several times visiting our daughter at Iowa State. Everyone is very pleasant and accommodating. The rooms have always been clean and to our liking. Breakfast is included. We found out they have feather pillows, so we did have to change those out, as I am allergic. We will continue to stay here.

This review is long over due. We have stayed here 2 times, for a little over a week each time. The first year was pretty good, only complaint was we had a first floor room near the side door. This sounds great, but the side door allowed lots of bugs to make their way into the room, maybe we only noticed them because we were there for a full week? My only complaint this year was the limited parking. It was almost full or full the majority of our stay, we always managed to find a spot either in their parking lot or the hotel next door, which shares a parking lot and is owned by the same people. I'm pretty sure we took the last spot at least 2 nights, however, if we couldn't find a spot, I'm sure we could've parked by the front door. This is a minor complaint and in no way a deal breaker. Now for the good, this year's stay in September was AWESOME. Huge shout out to TAYLOR! She made our stay go from good to just down right awesome. It would've just been any regular hotel stay without her, nothing to write home about. Taylor went above and beyond to make us happy. I could list lots of things she did but this review is already going to be very long. I had made a comment about being sad the breakfast ended at 9 during the week, which is a totally normal time. However, we were there for the super nationals in Boone and some nights ended with us getting back to the hotel at 2am or later. Getting up to eat the breakfast wasn't fun, but it was good and free and we're cheap haha. TAYLOR ASSEMBLED US A BREAKFAST PLATTER SO WE WOULDN'T MISS IT! She brought it to our room! She also recommended great places to check out for our time not at the track. Taylor is such a pleasant and fun person to be around! I seriously cannot say enough about her. She knew who we were after talking to us once or twice and this was during a booked weekend! VERY IMPRESSIVE! We saw her often during our week long stay and could tell she was working tons of hours as staffing was short. She still managed to be this great. Again, she made our stay! Taylor knew we were going to stay the following year and we wanted to make reservations for the next year while we were there. We couldn't book that far ahead. She took time out of her day a few days ago and called us the first day that we were allowed to book. This was to assure us that we would have a room and at a good rate. Thank you so much, Taylor! My experience was excellent - the staff is excellent, so much better than my last time. I had stayed there a few months ago and was hesitant to write a bad review because I knew I'd eventually be back. When in Ames I stay here and at the Towne Place next door. I try to get the names of people who I feel need to be recognized for their performance. I introduced myself to Taylor, I think she said she is the Assistant Manager, she was bubbly and very pleasant. I was surprised to recognize Curtis from the hotel next door, I spoke to him for several minutes, I told him I'd see him soon when I'm in town for more than a couple of nights. This is more applicable to Towne Place but he is one of the hardest working hotel Managers I've run across, he takes so much pride in his hotel you'd think he owned it. Jana the breakfast person is really nice and eager to please. I also encountered Damon when I checked in late at night, what a nice guy who was very empathetic to my flight being over two hours late getting in. The staff really made me feel welcome during my stay and always went above and beyond normal duty, thank you! I would recommend this place to others. I'm not sure what is going on but this hotel is much better than a few months ago. The only negative is the internet. If you're in Ames for a night or two stay here.

Even though I am an Elite Marriott loyalty club member, I was assigned the worst and smallest room (as measured by the fire escape chart on the back of the door) in the hotel. Asked at check-in, for free upgrade and quiet room and told none was available. Preassigned room 106, right next to lobby & coffee bar, and across the hall from restrooms and breakfast area. Morning breakfast noise started at 5am when staff started making coffee service. Lots of truck and car noise right outside my window pulling in and out of portico. Lots of people-noise from lobby. I could hear the phone ring at front desk and lobby conversations. Noise from staff shouting at one another during day; and girls running up and down the hall screaming. Place must be made of wood because somebody on second floor was loudly stomping around, and children were running around making lots of noise. It was not all bad: at least the room was away from pool, elevator, and vending noise traffic on the other side of the lobby. Small room did have tall ceiling since it was on first floor, which helped with the claustrophobic size. Breakfast: usual Fairfield fare, powdered scrambled eggs, sausage patties, breads, unbranded cereals, fruit. Gravy mix does give some taste to the scrambled eggs. BEWARE OF IN-ROOM LIMITATIONS: 1. Bed very tall…needed stepladder to get in it. Bed is about same height as vanity top in bathroom…too tall for short people. 2. Microfridge brand very tiny microwave oven with old fashioned rotary timer dial rather than touchpad. Very low power/heat that does not do a good job on popcorn. 3. DirectTV/ATT satellite TV small package, no movie channels. I complained about noise at check-out and was informed they will try to do better next time. With so many other hotel chain choices available in Ames, there will NOT be a next time for Marriott properties.

Comfortable rooms. Wi-Fi was a bit sketchy in our room, but the comfort was great. Breakfast is always good here. Easy access to the interstate for getting around. Would stay here again without question.

Visiting our daughter in Ames for a week and found out her little house was much too small for five people to live comfortably, so booked our last 3 nights at the Fairfield which was right down the road. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The bathroom was huge! Beds were very comfortable. The breakfast area is very large and inviting with many options to choose from. Our first morning we were treated with omelets, fresh fruit and a very nice variety of different coffee's. The attendant was bustling around making sure everything was full and clean. We enjoyed using the pool and the hot tub was very nice after a long day of hiking. Elevator is kind of hidden on the first floor....I walked by it several times before I actually saw it! We enjoyed our stay so much that we just booked another 3 nights for when our daughter graduates from ISU Vet school in May.

Upon arrival we were greeted by acknowledging our Silver Elite Rewards status. Quickly checked in to a great room. Our room was clean & very comfortable. Their facility was attractive and very clean. Great staff. They impressed us.
