Spent a week with a conference at Merry Acres Inn. What a great location for a state-wide conference. The accommodations were excellent, the staff all over the grounds were very helpful and professional, the overall set-up allows for many group and separate activities to take place all in one location. Clean, professional, and easily accessible to the overall region. Definitely, a pleasant experience....
My stay at The Merry Acres Inn was very different, I usually stay at a Marriott, so this was a very different environment. It wasn't bad, because at check in you get a voucher for a complimentary alcohol beverage and complimentary breakfast. The room is ok but you can definitely tell that property has been there for a loooonnnggg time!
We are snowbirds traveling from Michigan to Florida and we will go out of our way to stay in the Merry Acres Inn. We love the clean rooms, comfortable beds and the music on the front porch. The first time I called and the person at the front desk said "turn around and come back you will not be sorry" and we have never been sorry.
The room/bathroom was dirty, unenviting and noisy. Every time the air conditioner came on it woke us up. The bathroom light was connected to the exhaust fan and sounded like an airplane about to take off. The outside noise, from traffic, was disturbing. If we had not arrived so late we would have made other arrangements. The place was priced as a mid range but it was more like "very" low.
My husband stayed here while working in the area. He injured himself and I drove from Houston to pick him up. He could not say enough about how friendly and helpful the staff was. The inn is great, I love the retro feel. This was the first time I I ever saw a square tub! Plenty of hot, not warm, water which was wonderful. The bed was extremely comfortable. My husband enjoyed the live entertainment at the pub and said the food was very good. I enjoyed the hot breakfast and was very pleased with Merry Acres.
An older multi-building one story inn that has been renovated maintaining the original history while offering the comfort and amenities of much newer properties. The hotel was experiencing the influx of both service teams responding to two extreme wind storms (one a F3 Tornado) in 3 weeks as well as many guests who had lost their homes, belongings and in some cases family members due to those storms. The staff maintained their humor and excellent level of service throughout our stay. The beds were very comfortable, and although the shower and vanity areas were small compared to newer hotels they were updated, clean, in excellent condition and always had plenty of Hot Water. The room came with a breakfast buffet at the nearby Merry Acres Restaurant that surpassed most Big Name Motel/Hotel Free Breakfasts. (Real Scrambled Eggs, Grits, Bacon, Sausage, Biscuits and Sausage Gravy, Waffles, Coffee, Juice and assorted cereals & Fruit) The Manor House Lounge is attached to the Main Check. It was both comfortable and had great service, Thanks Alan! Being a older one story hotel there can be a considerable walk to gety to various buildings. The property could use better/brighter markings of various speed bumps and changes in levels of walkways. They were tricky for a handicapped person to negotiate safely. Over all we enjoyed our stay and will recommend Merry Acres to our Out of town friends.
It is a cheap standard hotel for the price of a better one. Use your money somewhere else. The bar was to be open at 4 pm, it's 4.20 and the lady at the bar keeps walking and ignoring people sitting and waiting. Nothing is ready and no one cares 😎
I came across this hotel after I wasn't able to secure a room with my Hilton Honors program either at the Hampton or Hilton Garden Inn in Albany. This is an older property with the rooms spread out across the property. All rooms have exterior corridors that walk out to the parking lot. The room was very clean and had a pleasant smell on the inside. The bed was comfortable and provided a good night of sleep. The bathroom vanity had an updated modern decor. The bathroom floor and wall tiles could use could use some updating but other than that the room was perfectly fine. Since this hotel was spread out it had somewhat of a resort feel with the pool area, restaurant and pub areas being in different areas. I drove over to the restaurant, but it is easily a short walk. Being that I was here on business the wifi connection was also excellent. The breakfast was a good typical southern breakfast consisting of eggs, sausage, grits, biscuits and cereals.
I've been an actor for the last 45 years, so I've moved around a lot and stayed in many hotels and motels. I've never enjoyed staying in any of them half as much I have at Merry Acres in Albany, GA. It feels like I'm living in a small, friendly village. The staff is very helpful; the complimentary breakfasts are always hot and delicious; the walls of the rooms are thick enough to keep out all but the loudest noises; and everything is tastefully decorated and extremely clean. The whole feeling is of comfort and warmth. I had business in Albany and stayed at Merry Acres some seven years ago and was very happy with the accommodations, so when I was in town a few weeks ago, I stayed there, again. I was impressed, once more. It's literally a "home away from home."
Tons of rooms, very professional / friendly staff, rooms are clean & comfortable, nice hot complimentary breakfast as well as a great bar & restaurant with complimentary beverage (one daily - during happy hour / 5-6:30pm) frequent live music in the evening......great value.
