The beds made us over sleep two mornings in a row. We are normally very hesitant to stay at non-chain locations. We are so very happy that we branched out on this one. Nice facility. Nice rooms. Great beds!
It’s very picturesque and has good service and decent WiFi connections. They had live music at the on site pub the night I was there. The free breakfast isn’t anything to write home about and if you’re a light sleeper see if you can get a room that doesn’t have a connecting door. I also like that you can enjoy food from local restaurants that are owned by the same people.
Stayed 2 nights between Christmas and New Year's. Bed was comfortable and room was ok for cleanliness. Breakfast buffet was great. Adjoining room door allowed every noise to come through from next door room. Very noisy neighbor made our first night rough, finally covered gap at bottom of door and that helped until they packed up and left at 5am. Outside door to their room slammed constantly for an hour. Sigh... cannot pick your neighbors. Basketball teams came in the next night... If stay here again will ask for non adjoining room and a room with HVAC unit that allows continuous fan running to drown out noise.
We traveled from the UK for a funeral. so comfortable and clean.Only down side our room had an old smell to it but was not an issue really. we had 4 rooms in total and the other 3 were ok. Great breakfast and friendly staff This was a lovely hotel and hope to return on better terms one day,
The staff is very friendly and very customer focused. The facility is very much in need of an upgrade. They are pet friendly, clean enough as well as safe and quiet. They have a shuttle service to their off site restaurants which seem to be quite good according to TA. We had a pizza and beer at the pub. Would stay there again.
Super well maintained. Hardwood floors and the tile bathrooms were nice. Quiet and the staff was fantastic . Nice little bar and restaurant. Will absolutely be staying there again on my next trip. A nice change from the chain hotels.. a very nice change of scenery
Although this hotel was built in the 1950's, they have all the modern conveniences. All the rooms are on ground level. The campus is large with plenty of rooms well off the main street. Be sure to ask for a room in the back to avoid road noise. They offer a welcome beverage and a cooked breakfast as well.
We were excited to stay in this hotel. The pictures do not exactly look the same as the rooms. I do understand it's an older hotel and has been remodeled but the bathroom needs to be redone, but more importantly it needed to be cleaned. I have to say it felt like a motel 6 to me. The pool area was really good and the staff were super nice. The do allow pets which is nice as well. The pub was great service and good drinks, and the off site steak house they own was amazing and even had live music. The one day that the breakfast was there we had it and it was very good. I would not discourage anyone from staying here, they just need to do some upgrading and more importantly clean the bathrooms well. I have to say I am more a luxury hotel person and this is not one. So if you are looking for a 4 star hotel this is not it, a 3 star yes. Safe, yes.
This place was built in the 50's and honestly is starting to show it's age along with the nostalgia. My family lives in Albany, Ga and when we have large gatherings we usually eat at the Merry Acres Restaurant and enjoy it. We were only staying a couple of nights, til we could stay with relatives. We got room #105 and it was average size with large walk in closet that also contained the fridge, microwave, coffee maker, ironing board and iron. It had older furnishings and the bathroom was definitely needing some attention. The tub faucet leaked and I was afraid to force it too much. The door would not open from the outside on several occasions and we had to contact maintenance. John came right over and assisted us although it did it again later. Complimentary breakfast was included for the days we stayed and it was very good. The room was just across from the Manor House Pub, with live music til 11. This was not a problem. My main complaint was parking. There is no designated parking for rooms and when we got back to the inn we had to park in one of the back parking lots (this inn is on 10 acres) due to the pub patrons. I found this a great inconvenience and for that reason alone I would not stay again in that location unless we were assigned a designated spot. If you don't care that you can't see your vehicle and don't mind walking a bit then this would probably not bother you. We prefer to have our vehicle in site of our room, I stayed up til about 11 when our spot opened up and my husband held the spot while I hiked to the car and returned. The desk personnel were courteous even though a lot of the rooms were occupied by Fla persons escaping Hurricane Irma and there was some chaos. All in all the experience was good. Rooms clean, food good, personnel friendly. They have gym facilities, banquet and meeting rooms, pool and shuttle services. The charm of the 50's abounds.
This place has been around for a long time. It still retains the same basic look, but the rooms have been updated (mostly..still the original tile in the baths, which is neat). What sets it off is the bar. It's well-appointed and very cozy, like a country club of sorts. I've stayed here twice. Good place for Albany.
