My family and I stayed here for one night (wife and 2 teenaged boys). I do not make completely negative reviews on hotels, but in this case it is warranted. First, let's talk about our room. It's a modern design with nice lightening, sleep number mattresses and cool LED lighting. That's where my positive comments end. Now let's start with the negative: 1) When we entered the room the first thing that struck me was the smell. A strong air freshener odor hit me, which u could also smell cigarette smoke mixed in (which they were attempting to cover). 2) My wife's bed sheet were not clean and we had to ask for new sheets soon after we arrived. 3) Also, the beds are full size mattresses. These are basically useless if attempting to share them with another person (other than your significant other). U need to gave queen size mattresses. 4) The pool was not functional. This was one of the biggest reasons why we booked this hotel (they need to advertise this). Kids were very disappointed. 5) They do not have complimentary breakfast. They do have a buffet but want to charge you 9 bucks a plate. Why? Too many competitive hotels offer free hot breakfast. 6) one of our towels had a hole in it. This makes me wonder how thorough our room had been cleaned previously. 7) staff approached our complaints with an indifferent attitude. A "I really don't care..are you finished" facial expression. Overall, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone with a family. It's definitely not worth $100 a night. It has potential to be a nice, clean hotel, but probably poorly managed.
My wife and I chose the Radisson because of the hotel website's pronouncement of "Attend Concerts at Nearby Blossom Music Center." What we experienced was an "average" stay - except for the woman's thong which I found hanging in the closet area of our room. That was unusual. The room apparently was given a cursory cleaning before our arrival given the presence of the thong in the closet and the absence of regular coffee packets on the desk, only decaf. Beyond those items - the down-like material in the bed comforter had clumped considerably but uniformly across the surface of the comforter leaving a lumpy appearance and texture. The top sheet of the bed had a gum-like spot on it and the extra blanket which was kept in the closet area had bare spots where the fabric had worn completely off the backing. In addition, the internet service was very slow compared to the service my wife and have experienced at other hotels. Taken as a whole, our stay was an "average" experience. The concert, on the other hand, was well above average.
Hotel was kept in average shape. The room was ready when I arrived. It was clean and made up. Staff made me feel very unwelcome. Each time I interacted with the staff it felt as if I was inconveniencing them. Bar tender did not want to serve our group. Breakfast staff was uninterested in serving us breakfast.
I regret when the manager (at least that is who he seemed to be) asked, as we were leaving, how we enjoyed our stay and we did not keep it real. This place seems "tired". Like the surrounding area. Akron is not for tourists . You pretty much come here because you have to. This may explain why this Radisson has been around for many years. Honestly, it's prime has past. There have been superficial updates including flat screen TVs, bright lobby decor and paint colors. But there are still popcorn ceiling and dreaded ill operational sleep number beds!! My advice is to get rid of those beds and get real mattresses. Lumpy and poor fitting bedding do not make for real comfort. For tech users, there are no USB ports, normally found in newer hotels. Also, the swimming pool is underwhelming to say the least. On the other hand, the room was clean and there was no stained carpet! For the most part it was quiet except for the occasional rattling from the AC. Sounded like it was struggling, like I am now, trying to write a balanced review.
I had a level of expectation when I booked. I had just stayed in a Homewood Suites, a Hilton and even a Country Hearth Suites in the previous four weeks. This ranks as by far the worst. Poorly kept grounds, unfriendly staff who would rather ignore guests than welcome them or even talk to them. 90% of the times I went by the front desk there was no one there. Needed sheets and was told I could walk to the front desk to get them if I wanted them. The interior of the room was nice and I loved the King bed firmness. When that's all I love about a place, I really didn't lvoe the place.
I stay here every year when I come to Akron to visit family and friends in Cleveland & Akron. Hotel is perfectly situated for this purpose: easy to access, off the road so quiet, lots of restaurants & shops close by, very accommodating & friendly staff, good price, clean rooms.
Very clean. Pillow were great. Staff was friendly. Quiet surroundings. Convenient to where we needed to be. Would stay here again. Offered military discount which we appreciated. Would stay again in the future if needed.
I stayed in this hotel a couple nights ago and was extremely happy with the room. I got a king sized sleep number bed! This is the first time I've ever slept on one of those and it was very nice. The room itself was huge with a desk, computer chair, love seat, and a standard chair. The room was clean and tidy and very well appointed. It seems that it may have been renovated recently it was that nice. The front desk staff was courteous and friendly and the bar area looked very well laid out and stocked up. If I'm ever in need of another nights stay for any reason I would gladly stay there again.
We held our wedding in the Copley/Fairlawn area and reserved a room block at the Radisson for our wedding party and guests. The hotel gave us a phenomenal price, all the guests were extremely happy with the hotel's friendly staff and beautiful amenities, and throughout the entire planning process, the Radisson was patient and pleasant. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to out of town guests.
We stayed at this hotel when we attended a family wedding (as part of a block of rooms). Having read other reviews, I was not surprised that breakfast was not included- but others in our party were. Evidently some rooms have fridges- but not any of the rooms that our immediate family stayed in. Other reviews have mentioned that the Sleep Number beds didn't work. Ours only sort of worked and it sounded like a vacuum cleaner when we turned it on. I was never able to get it to a comfortable number. The rooms are not fancy, but clean. No ventilation fan in the bathroom so there was some peeling of the ceiling from moisture. Highway noise is definitely a factor (or it was in our room). One thing to note unless you are very short- several of us noticed that the way the comforters were tucked in at the foot of the bed they only came up to about mid chest height. I remade the bed after the first uncomfortable night and it was much better. Staff were not unfriendly, but they did not go out of their way to be warm and welcoming. All in all not a terrible experience but I expected more from a Radisson. Given a choice, I would probably try another hotel in the area.
