We checked into The Inn at Honey Run with the anticipation of having an upscale romantic evening/getaway. The website for this place claims to be "casual upscale" but it was, for us, just an outdated old Inn with no real charm or anything to make it upscale other then the prices. The building itself needs a lot of attention as far as decor. Very dated. Our room was super small and oh so ugly! Gross, old brown carpet and cheep furniture that looked like it would fall apart if we blew on it. No upscale charm at all! I will say that it was clean at least. The staff was friendly but not overly helpful and they defiantly did not make you feel like you were somewhere special. We tried the continental breakfast that came with the room and it was so awkward! You must be seated by staff and order from a menu of maybe three different items like fruit, oatmeal or a muffin. They obviously are expecting you to order from their pricier breakfast menu that included nothing special. Again, we really wanted to like this place, it could be so special if they tried a little harder but it felt like an old place trying to place "dress up". The Inn at Honey Run has the potential of being a nice place, the location is great and private. They fall short on attention to detail and updates. Very very dated decor and rooms. We have stayed at much nicer places in "Amish Country" for much less.
