In general, I had a very good experience in this reservation, from the booking process in Mercure's website until the check-out. Room is well-equipped, air conditioning helped a lot in the cold weather and breakfast service had many options. During December, it's also an advantage to be located close to the Xmas Market.

My reservation was done by a big international company having a special agreement with Accor group. The reservation was done two weeks before my business trip for three nights and explicitly stated "Quiet room not on the street side". When arriving I was told that there is quiet room for me but I could ask for a change next morning. I could not sleep because of the noise from the street and when asking a change next day they told I could pack my things, leave the suitcase in the room and if there would a room becoming free on the yard side they would change my room. When returning in the evening I was directed back to the same room as before. Next night the same noise again and an sleepless night. In the morning my colleague was checking out from a quiet room with the same category as mine on the yard side, so I went with him to ask if I could change to his room. The same person as the day before told me in a very impolite manner that it was not possible to change because the hotel was full, even if my colleague had just released a quiet room. After that the person told again that I could pack my suitcase and if there would a free room later on, then they would change room. I did that but when arriving to my job, I asked our German assistant to ask the hotel once more if I could finally get a quiet room. The answer was no, so we decide to check out via phone and book another hotel. I travel about 50-60 nights per year. I have never experienced this kind of behavior anywhere else. I'm a gold member of Accor (I was asked to fill-in hotel form at arrival despite of being gold member), but now I need seriously think if I want use this hotel chain anymore after being treated totally unacceptable way. I filed a complaint to the hotel by leaving a letter at the reception. At that moment I could figure out that the person who had treated me in this way was the front desk manager of the hotel. I asked to talk to his manager i.e. the hotel director, but she was not present so I asked the person at the reception to leave my letter directly to the director without passing via the front desk manager. For me it seems that this hotel has a serious problem, when people without any basic understanding customer service, can become a manager and is not properly educated and trained to learn that. Or could it be that the problem is even bigger, totally rotten company culture with a general arrogant attitude and ignorant behavior towards customers.

It's always a plesure to come back at the "Mercure Hotel Aachen am Dom". This hotel is situated just near the center of the town; from there the whole city center is easy accessible by foot also the shopping area. This is very convenient during the christmas market; just park jour car in there own parking, make a check-in and enjoy the vicinity. The staff is very friendly and willing to help.

I had the worst room in the hotel : single bed, no space, 1st floor (with view on a busy street that was noisy, and lots of lights) plus the room was cold. Paid more than 120 euros a night for this room ! The staff told me it was not possible to upgrade

Location is very close to the city center. Parking is across the street, so not part of the hotel itself. There is WiFi. I’m a silver member of Accord but still need to fill out guest info even though it’s all in the system - this is not needed when checking in at Pullman for example.

Great location and service very kind stuff. I had some problems to fall asleep, because of a bit noisy air-conditioning and big pillows to which I'm not used to but these are really details. All in all very good.

Came to Aachen for the Christmas market. This hotel is in the perfect position for both that, and for the shops and shopping centre. Nice and clean, friendly staff. We didn't have any food or drinks in the hotel, but the local restaurants are good. It is on a main road, so the traffic (and drunk people) can be fairly loud, but these things cant be helped sometimes if you want to be in the centre of everything

With a location within a few hundred metres of the Rathaus, cathedral and other major attractions, Mercure am Dom is also very close to a range of very good restaurants. We were generally satisfied with our stay and the staff were friendly and efficient. However the air-conditioning in our room didn't work and it was very hot even in September. The breakfast buffet is also over-priced, and there are better possibilities for breakfast within easy walking distance

the hotel has no car park.We were told by a receptionist in serious need of a personality/charm transplant that we would have to park in a public car park a little way away.The room was ok and the breakfast was good. As an accor silver card holder it is usual to get a free drinks voucher for 2 drinks.A nice perk !!Here we were given a voucher for 3 euros.On return to the bar after dinner we had 2 glasses of white wine and used our voucher ,price 16 euros ,ie 13 euros nett (.Luckily normal service of 2 free drinks was resumed at our next stay in `Novotel in Breda which was very good.) The bar at Mercure Aachen has to be seen to be believed.There was nobody in it ( surprise !!!)and it has a 1960,s feel about it.with poor furniture ,looking very tired and some form of old red rug over a third of the small floor.area. I like accor hotels and service usually but would not recommend this except for it,s very good location

based on its best location within the centre of the city of Aachen this hotel is really recommendable for a sight seeing tour to Aachen. All important things in the city of Aachen can be reached easily by a foot walk. - easy booking - heartly welcome - air conditioned and clean room with all needed facilities available. - friendly and helpful staff - quiet room even having a room at the street side of the hotel. - easy check out - car park close to the hotel
