Novotel Aachen City4.0 out of 5.0

Nice hotel, nice team... But make sure the rooms allocated as premium are quite. Thanks to the staff who allocated us the 503. The staff is friendly! Keep this one for out next visits... Breakfast could be with more selections
I stayed with my two adult sons over the 25-28th August weekend, and used this hotel as our base during the F1 Grand Prix weekend. The bedrooms rooms were a good size and the bathroom very clean. The Hotel provides a very good breakfast, however we felt that the evening meals in the bar were rather limited and overpriced price for a burger and chips. The hotel has an underground car park which you can access via a lift, but this is charged at an extra 14 Euros per night, and the hotel is located close to Aachen Bus Station and has many homeless people sitting in the surrounding streets, so not an area where you would feel comfortable about your daughter walking alone late at night.
The Novotel Aachen is a very clean and pleasant hotel a 10-15 minute walk from the historic old town. The hotel is very accessible from the main road into Aachen, thus it is a convenient spot for those arriving by car. Parking is inexpensive and below the hotel. The hotel is in reasonable proximity to the old town and quiet at night. The walk into town is past a few somewhat unsavory casinos and crowds of the inebriated but in no way felt unsafe. I would certainly consider returning if I found myself in Aachen again,
The hotel is located around 15 Mins walk from the central station, very close to the city center, room is fine, big enough for two. Breakfast needs some more variety Overall it was a pleasant experience
Very friendly and helpful service at reception. It is our hotel of choice in Aachen as we come here twice a year. Car park is very useful. I would mark higher but location of hotel is not the best due to the high number of drunks opposite the bus station nearby. Having said that, touchwood, we have never had any problems with any of them. I mention this as i would not be happy for my daughters to make the walk to the town on their own. It's a shame that the hotel decided to go upmarket with its restaurant well over a year ago. Far too pricey to use!! Some simple bar food would be useful. Anyway - see you again near to Xmas.
We spent 2 nights in the Novotel, the room and bathroom were very clean and there was enough towels for the 3 of us! The staff are so friendly and wifi worked really well in the room. Parking onsite is really easy to use and the location of the hotel is only a 10 minute stroll to the old town. The breakfast was ok. Would recommend.
hotel located on a busy main road but you think you are in your own private little world. Wonderfully quiet rooms, spotlessly clean! Had a standard twin room facing back of house. Great welcome at receptio, were given a welcome envelope with city and hotel info inside...a little extra compared other Novotels we have been to. Lots of shops for food all around you as well as typical high street facilities and not far from sight seeing spots. Dont be on a diet! Amazing breakfast at hotel and far to many german bakeries with very yummy cakes tarts etc to enjoy :0
The Aachen Novotel is a modern, clean and has great (15 euro per night) parking facilities underground. We were travelling on a motorbike and the underground parking was great with lifts straight up into reception and ample parking spaces. The reception area and bar is spacious and modern and the greeting was friendly and helpful. The rooms , again modern, air con and cool and very clean. The location is very close to the historic city centre, its literally a 10 min stroll, not through the most salubrious area mind you...my hand was firmly on my wallet but ultimately no issues. Breakfast was a good mix of hot foods, cold meats, cheese, fruits and yogurt plus plenty of hot tea and coffee. My only gripe about the hotel (and this is more about the Hotel group and not this actual hotel, was that having booked it through booking.com I was not eligible for any Accor points, which is a bit of a rip off given I could have chosen to stay in any number of hotels in Aachen. However, and here is the relevant point, the reception staff did offer to cancel my booking.com booking and remake it via the Accor system, thus I would get the points..so full marks to them for coming up with a workaround.
The bathroom was wierdly arranged and the food did not have that many options at breakfast. But overall a nice experience and close to the city+ transportation which made it easier to visit and enjoy the surroundings.
This Novotel is fairly standard stuff in terms of the rooms. They're okay...nothing exciting but the price is quite reasonable. So it's good value for money. The gym is pretty disappointing. A few running machines and a multigym if I remember correctly. I was too uninspired to bother using it. The breakfast was pretty good as German breakfasts go but the coffee is still naff but plentiful in most hotels of this ilk in Germany. The staff were very helpful and pleasant indeed. The manager should be proud of them. Everyone I encountered in this hotel was pleasant and accommodating. The downside of this hotel is its location. It has good parking but a stroll to the lovely old town requires passing through a rough neck looking area around the bus station. Ladies might find this quite intimidating, particularly after dark.
