This was our first stay at a secrets hotel. We had very high expections from reviews from people whom stayed at Secret resorts. We stayed in a perferred level ocean view room. The room was very clean and housekeeping did a great job of cleaning the room daily. However, the bedding was old and worn, the towels were rough and the robes old and ratty. The shower is very small. The room was close to all the restaurants and did have a beautiful view . We stayed in room 104. The food was average at best. The room service menu had more options than the restaurants. The seaside grill for breakfast served us burned pancakes and runny eggs. The italian restaurant was very good. All of the staff were friendly and exceptional. Especially the entertainment group. However, The bartenders at the pool bar seemed like they did not want to be there. We walked thru the spa and it was very old. Did not seem like a spa at a five star resort.

This is a very clean and nice property. The level of service and amenities does not match the price. We have stayed at places in Costa Rica that are nicer and better attention to detail but for much less money. You would think that breakfast should be included at the very minimum. Bring your own water to drink they charge $4.50 for a 20 ounce bottle. We would recommend the La Paz Waterfall Gardens as a day trip but find other lodging nearby if you are price conscious. Also, there are lots of steps no matter what part of the property you are going to. If you are not able to do up and down stairways very well then do not stay here. Good experience overall. Too pricey.
