Fly to Reno-Tahoe International Airport
If you want to visit Reno, Nevada, known as the Gateway to the Old West, then you'll want to fly into Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO). Reno's casinos are a major draw for many visitors; others pass through on their way to the world famous Burning Man festival, as Reno is the closest city to the temporary Black Rock City.
The surrounding desert terrains offer some fantastic mountain biking opportunities, notably in the Peavine Mountain trails; but remember to take plenty of water.
The Truckee River Whitewater Park runs right through the downtown Truckee Arts District, so you can combine some outdoor adventures with gourmet dining and upmarket shopping.
