Hotel staff met us at train station to take care of our bags-was a real treat since walk to hotel was all uphill. Easy check-in where we were given a damp towel to refresh ourselves. Settled in our room which was an upgrade with couch and table and fireplace. Windows overlooked a raging Urubamba river. Quickly signed up for 2 complementary excursions (5 included if you can fit them in). Twilight walk with our guide Neyssa was fun and informative of a lot of local customs and superstitions and her experience with a Shaman. We then had a delightful dinner (included). We walked the grounds and returned to nice comfy beds preheated with hot water bottles. The next morning was our Birding walk where we did see the elusive red bird which is the country’s bird - Coc of the rock or something like that (made my daughter’s day - checked our bags to pick up after Macchu Picchu, and off we went- well rested for a busy day of exploring on the mountain.
