We had an excellent time at Posada Gosen, finding it to be the perfect location for our family retreat. The accommodations were superb; the kitchen was well-equipped, the beds were very comfortable, and the grounds were beautiful, providing a peaceful and relaxing environment for our break. As noted in other reviews, the highlight of our visit was the exceptional service provided by Eduardo. He was incredibly welcoming and helpful, immediately addressing all of our needs. He provided a wonderful tour of the coffee farm, which included a hands-on coffee roasting experience, and kindly arranged for a yoga instructor to visit one morning. These personalized touches greatly enhanced our vacation. .Additionally, we enjoyed the local area, specifically the nearby parks with hiking trails, waterfall, and the viewpoint overlooking San Jose.

Eduardo and Betty were FABULOUS! They could not have been nicer, more courteous hosts! The house was perfection and the home cooked meals were INCREDIBLE!The property itself is BREATHTAKING and very secure. It is behind a heavy electric gate, so we felt very safe!Eduardo communicates very efficiently and was so helpful in navigating our excursions… I hope some day to be able to have the privilege of staying at Gósen again and would give it 10 stars!!

We had the most amazing stay at the Gosen House! Eduardo and Betty are the best hosts ever. It felt like we were staying with family. Just the nicest people and we loved talking with them and learning all about the farm and Costa Rica. The place is so beautiful - flowers and fruit in abundance. We also saw lovely birds all over the property. And they had the most precious dogs which added even more fun to the visit! We ordered the dinner and breakfast and everything was absolutely delicious. Homemade and fresh fruit and juice from their garden. We took the coffee tour and it was so informative and fun. We enjoyed the experience of roasting some coffee beans at the end of the tour. It was so awesome to be able to buy some coffee to take home and know exactly where it came from and that it is made with love. Our stay was too short - we did not want to leave! But hope to visit again one day. Thank you so much Eduardo and Betty, for making our stay in Costa Rica an unforgettable one! The Campbells

Probably the most beautiful property we have stayed at in all of our travels. Eduardo and Betty were the most gracious.welcoming and warm hostsThe property, meticulously maintained and manicured daily, is a marvel to living in and among Costa Rica’s rich forest while enjoying the fruits and vegetables grown on their land and drinking the coffee from their family plantation that backs up to the national park. And add in the trail down a five minute walk to the richest and most tranquil and private Brooke side rest area….simply breathtaking. We have have already booked a second three night stay

You should go ahead and request to book this property right now. It's hard to summarize how wonderful it is, but I’ll try.Eduardo and Betty have created a paradise within a paradise. The grounds are beautifully maintained, full of native plants and wildlife—we even saw a sloth in the garden on our last day. The main guest space is a glass enclosure surrounded by lush landscaping; it’s especially peaceful during rainstorms.Eduardo, a Costa Rica native, is incredibly knowledgeable about the area. If you arrive without a set plan, he’ll help you design an unforgettable experience tailored to your interests. We loved the coffee tour—our 6-year-old especially enjoyed roasting and grinding the beans. She also spent hours happily exploring the swings and gardens. Eduardo is both an artist and a gracious host; he even took beautifully framed photos of our family.Betty’s cooking is phenomenal—every meal was a highlight. We loved everything: chicken curry, paella, eggplant lasagna, gallo pinto, arepas, guanabana en leche, salchichón, and especially the fajitas. Our daughter’s favorite was Betty’s homemade Oreo ice cream—better than anything we could have bought. We already miss this place and will treasure the memories forever. Muchas gracias, Eduardo, Betty, and Daniel!

Unique Local Flavor
This property is not quite a traditional VRBO, as the owners live on-site. However, for our family that was not a drawback, as it meant that Eduardo would wander by with four servings of whatever delicious item Betty was creating (homemade flan, Spanish tortilla, carrot cake, oh my!) That also allowed us to participate in a coffee history lesson and coffee roasting--truly one of the exceptional experiences we had in Costa Rica. Eduardo also was very accommodating as our check-in time got pushed back later and later due to the insanity of traffic in downtown San Jose (we had to drop off a friend before heading up into the mountains). The property is beautiful, with gorgeous flowers and fruit trees. It smells amazing, and the quirky architecture of the main building is completely unique. That being said, I might hesitate to recommend this property to families with small children. Each space (kitchen, social area/main bedroom/second bedroom) is separated from one another and requires some amount of time outside to move between spaces. That worked just fine for our family with two teenagers, but I think it could have been challenging for families with smaller kids. If you have older kids, or are two couples traveling together, this is a one-of-a-kind living experience. And Eduardo & Betty make it exceptionally special. Fair warning: If you try their coffee or coffee-tea, make sure you budget to bring some home. It's just too good to leave there!!

Beautiful property!
My husband, daughter and I wanted to stay in a house near San Jose, and this worked out really nicely. The property is just gorgeous with the flowers and greenery everywhere. Eduardo and Betty are so sweet. We paid extra for dinner and breakfast the first day which was a huge help until we could get to the grocery store.I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone elderly or with little kids—no railing on the stairs or paved paths. You need a car to stay here, for sure. And the bed in the main room was so hard we bought an air mattress to put on top of it. But otherwise, it was a wonderful stay!

Hospitality is the bottom line :)
This was our 4th trip to CR, and we have stayed in a different VRBO each time. This was the least-expensive home we have stayed in. While not luxurious, it was welcoming and comfortable. The gardens are stunning. My husband is a "pacer," and he spent lots of time strolling through the gorgeous hydrangeas, birds of paradise, etc. Hummingbirds and butterflies also enjoy the gardens. Eduardo and Betty are first-rate hosts. They were available without being obtrusive. Eduardo gave us a lesson in coffee roasting, and we brought home the 2 bags we prepared. Betty made us two meals, both wonderful. There are a couple of living spaces. The main lounge seating area is on the outdoor deck. Because of the winds, we weren't able to spend a lot of time there. The kitchen and dining area has table seating, but no couches. Two game tables fill the space. This area also has ample sliding doors that can be opened to gain access to the gardens while also letting in the breeze. I was surprised at how cool it was in the evenings and bought a pair of sweats to change into after the sun went down. This was a wonderful "home base" and we took Eduardo's suggestions for hiking areas within driving distance.

It was an amazing adventure would be an understatement!!
Before we booked the property we were a bit skeptical, all of these excellent reviews?? Could this place be that great?? Well, let me tell you YES, the property and the owners are that great and then some!! From the time Eduardo picked us up at our hotel we felt like we were part of the family, on our arrival we were greeted by Eduardo's wife Betty and their two wonderful doggos, Anute and Legertha... The building was gorgeous and well appointed, waking up every morning to amazing views, the sounds of birds and the river running through the property was sublime!! We were asked if we would like to learn about coffee farming, we immediately said yes!!! We picked beans, shelled, dried, roasted, ground and packaged the coffee beans, Eduardo is a walking encyclopedia of coffee and Costa Rican information.. Betty is an amazing chef, we sampled many dishes and fresh fruit juices during our stay!! But the thing that stands out about our stay is the way Eduardo and Betty invited us to experience daily life... Whether it be a trip to the mall with their granddaughter, tacos from a local Soda, or our absolute favorite attending a soccer match between Saprissa and Vancouver, an event we will never forget!!!!! They allowed us to be immersed in daily Costa Rican life and to us that was so special!! We did the tourist things as well..Hikes and waterfalls and wildlife, but our favorite thing was the end of day sunsets and the solitude that the evening would bring.. What an adventure we had!

The temperature is cool and mild and theres a great view of the surrounding vegitation from the second story. Eduardo and his wife are beyond hospitable and welcoming, and made every effort to find ways to make our stay memorable and comfortable. I would highly recommend you purchase their delicious, aromatic coffee. Ots grown on the property otself, and Eduardo grinds it freshly for you at your request. Costa Rica Paradise
The Bible describes Goshen as a land or place of plenty and comfort (Genesis 45:10). Gideon, the coffee plantation and guest accommodation of Eduardo and his lovely wife, Betty, offers plenty and delivers comfort. Their jewel of a vacation get-away, located near the university town of Heredia and a short drive from Costa Rica’s capital of San Jose, offers its guests art. Architecture, fauna, flora, fine food and friendship.
If you’re interested in art, Eduardo’s private collection along with his own paintings ( he’s quite an accomplished artist in his own right) will captivate the viewer. If you appreciate architecture, their main accommodation is a Mid-Century Modernism style building that offers a 360 degree panorama of the surrounding plantation and neighboring forest with their abundant plants and wild life. One can view various tropical birds coming and going while multi-colored, spotted lizards dart through their gardens. An occasional sloth might even be seen. The grounds are visual delight with many tropical flowers and fruit plants that Eduardo has cultivated. Not only are they feast for the eyes but for one’s stomach, as well, because Eduardo and Betty serve up many of the tropical fruits that are grown on their plantation. Betty is an excellent cook who prepares and presents full course meals that can only be described as the finest of fine dining. Their warmth and hospitality are unlimited and you will find yourself fast becoming friends with your hosts.

Incredible hosts
There are no words to describe the beauty of this property. It is cared for with love and it is pure joy to sit in the garden and soak it all in.
We have travelled extensively over the years and have never encountered such incredible hosts. No request went unanswered. We did not have a car so Eduardo was kind enough to help us get around locally. He is also a marvelous tour guide and has extensive knowledge about the history , culture, flora and fauna of Costa Rica. We visited several natural parks with him including experiencing first hand the processing of coffee beans from harvesting to roasting at his plantation
Betty, Eduardo’s wife, delighted us with so many wonderful meals and surprises, like breakfast on our first day and a birthday cake and a surprise departure breakfast in addition to home made goodies throughout our stay. We highly recommend Posada Gosen but being at over a mile high make sure you dress appropriately as it was quite windy and cool specially in the evenings unlike the coastal areas.
Thank you Eduardo and Betty for your wonderful hospitality.

Quiet getaway outside of Heredia
Fantastic stay with Eduardo and Betty, they are excellent hosts who went above and beyond. They make you feel right at home, we will miss them.
The only 'con' would be that the house is so remote, not close to any sites we wanted to see, however, we had no issues getting Uber rides and Eduardo was also willing to offer ride service.
