Never stayed at the property
We never stayed at the property though we had a confirmed reservation. We never received check in information. I messaged through the VRBO app several times as instructed to get the check in information and never received any response through the app to my request. I attempted to call the host directly as suggested in the app when check in instructions are not provided but there was no answer. We drove to the property and continued to attempt to make contact to no avail. I had to call the VRBO help desk who were very helpful in trying to connect with the host of the VRBO and then to facilitate a 3-way call. When a connection was facilitated, though I attempted to speak slowly to the host in my halting French, there was clearly no attempt to communicate and respond. The person immediately hung up on me when my communication was not good enough! A host ought to attempt to communicate with guests and facilitate communication. I knew enough French and had Google Translate so would have held up my end of the conversation but there was no attempt to have a conversation. The host just hung up! VRBO was very helpful and will facilitate our refund. Be sure you speak fluent French and get check in information well in advance!!
