Charming, comfortable, very friendly staff. Excellent location in the heart of old town, but at the end of the main terrace that is away from traffic and night life, so it’s very quiet. Loved having my room made up and getting treats in the fridge every day (bring Canadian or US cash for tips). The hotel sells bus passes and local canned beer, and can connect you with their shuttle. Super easy to walk to all of the main attractions, and many have accessible ramps. Endless nearby options for shopping, dining, scenery. Avoid the public buses during rush hours.
Tips:
Parliament is free to tour, but reserve in advance. Also reserve ahead for other tours because they tend to fill up. While not free with reservation fee and generous tip, I much enjoyed https://www.afreetourofquebec.com/. The Parks Canada app can help with the tour below the Terrace and other attractions further away.
A few blocks away is a little grocery store called "Epicerie Richard”. Further down, “Le Don” has must-do, affordable, rotating daily lunch specials. It’s a vegan restaurant, but anyone who enjoys fresh, quality food with real vegetables would love it - they make even Impossible burgers taste impossibly fabulous.
In old town most business with greet with “bonjour/hello” to indicate that you can respond in French or English. Outside of the walled city it’s hit or miss, with some irritated by English, so always at least approach with “bonjour” and be humble if not able to communicate in French.
