Our family of 4 stayed here for three nights in July, we chose this place because the website gives the impression that it is a big place with lots to do... but don't be fooled. There is one small pool with some chairs around it, and a nice hot tub that looks like another pool in the photos. The grounds are small, the tiny pond is buggy, and the food is overpriced. The shuttle is not free to Quebec and you can't walk anywhere, it is in a suburban neighborhood. It was disappointing because the photos gave us a much different expectation, great marketing, but felt a little like a bait-and-switch. Might be nice for a one-night visit but I do not recommend for family looking for things to do. We preferred staying in the city.
Would recommend hotel but feel they have to work on customer service to warrant star certification” The physical property met my expectations. The grounds were fabulous, clean and neat. The Junior Staff were exceptional, went out of their way to help. Instead of pointing and giving vague directions to the Jacuzzi the junior staff took us! After being told by the front desk that there were indeed towels at the Jacuzzi (after pool hrs) the junior staff jumped the fence to the pool and retrieved towels for us..... The Junior waiter at Napa was exceptional! The Senior staff of the hotel did not follow through on promises.... 1) on checkin the receptionist said she would request extra sundry products....didn't happen 2) was given the wrong parking pass( was supposed to be $15 a day unlimited)..and was charged after one hr of parking. Questioned upon return and was told we would be credited for the hr parking... didn't happen...upon checkout and further clarification we did receive the credit. Was at the Monte Cristo 3 times First time for dinner. Had good service and enjoyable meal. Second time for breakfast- left after 5 restaurant/ hotel staff passed without any sort of acknowledgement! Third experience went to outside bar for evening cocktail but told closed. We were directed to Monte Cristo Bar, after waiting for aprox 10 min., Bar / restaurant not busy and several staff passed by us,.we left.... Not good business practices.. I believe the Monte Cristo needs some customer service training... Friends ordered the shuttle for pickup which didn't arrive so we called and the hotel sent a van asap..said there was traffic..we didn't see traffic on the way back??
This was my 6th or 7th visit here over the years. I've stayed in downtown Quebec city but that is crowded, a parking hassle; this is so much more civilized and only a 20 min ride to centre-ville if you want to go. Service is strong here: vehicle valet; helpful, attractive, knowledgeable desk staff and Christine the concierge is excellent. The rooms are nicely appointed. I like the Urbania section; its more expensive but a lovely open bar happy hour and nice size suite. Pleasant pool and pool-bar or lunch area. Well-appointed grounds, and space to walk and enjoy the greenery on site. The maid service in-room is excellent. The bathroom is large, with a walk-in circular shower and double sink, you need good maid service and they deliver; turndown service too at 730 or 8p, nice touch. The owners have invested $ in this place and it shows. No longer the bargain hotel it used to be a dozen years ago, but well- run and worth it. Will surely return!
We stayed here in mid-July and we thought the price was very reasonable. The grounds are wonderful and we loved the pool. Our room was very clean. The location of the hotel worked just fine for us because we had a car and were able to drive into the city, but it is a bit of a drive. The staff were all very helpful and spoke perfect English (and were quite accommodating when we practiced our French with them). Overall a great experience.
This hotel charges as if it were wonderful but it is not. We arrived at about 11:30pm with a ton of bags after our flight had been cancelled. There was no-one to help us unload. We loaded the hotel luggage trolley and managed to get it to reception and the person who was responsible for the luggage had walked right passed as as we struggled (me and my two young boys) only to be required to help us later. The buffet breakfast was expensive and low quality. The fruit was not even ripe. The eggs were served like eggmcmuffins with no hollandaise. The fresh squeezed orange juice was a hit but the waffles which my boys tried to eat were rock hard. Same issue with the luggage when we were leaving even though I called for someone to come and help. Given its proximity to the airport I would expect better service with luggage. The one thing that is very impressive is that they have a hotel shuttle that will drive you downtown and pick you up. That is a wonderful idea for people coming to admire the beauty of the old town.
We came several times to this hotel. Although situated outside the normal tourist area, it's not far and gives great value for your money. Everything was done with taste and attention to quality (except for the towels which are just OK, but not up to the rest - a small detail). Their upscale business Urbania section is especially good with its great perks such as a private lounge stocked with free breakfast goodies and cocktail hour drinks and goodies.
Resort has a lovely feel to it and we were excited to arrive to an upmarket resort after travelling from New York. Family room is in older section of hotel and you have to access a flight of stairs with suitcases. The room is very dated with chipped furniture and old bathroom. Child's room smelt musty and half of games were broken or missing. Hotel pool has nice setting but is cold and barely heated. Nice heated spa. Room service ordered club sandwich and got a whole chicken breast in between two soggy pieces of bread! Charged for parking even though is outdoor and not secure. Very basic breakfast that should be included in the room rate. On checking bill days later charged for mini bar that we did not have. I never use the mini bar as a regular business traveller and we had a car so picked up supplies from supermarket while driving. Have never had this OVERCHARGE from any other hotel so disappointed. Still trying too get money reimbursed. Check your account a week after you leave to make sure no extra charges. Also be prepared for very high tax rates too.
We've stayed at Le Bonne Entente for 5 nights, in a family of 4, including 2 teenagers aged 12 and 14. The hotel, though a little away from downtown Quebec city (10 min drive) is a gem! Very spacious room, with 1 King and 1 Queen plus a large bathroom, with a very modern bath tub (that even dries itself!), a wall massage shower and a tropical rain shower! Splendid in many ways. The hotel staff was courteous and room cleaning was very good. We only had a minor glitch with room service once, but nothing to worry about. Overall, I recommend it whole-heartedly!
I had stayed at this hotel before so I expected it to be fine. Unfortunately, our room really needed some updating. There was no shower which was not mentioned to me on arrival. The air condition was exceptionally loud and interrupted our sleep. Various things in the room didn't work. We were there two nights and our room was not cleaned until I requested it at 6 p.m. We stayed there in part because if the pool but we were not able to enjoy it because it was too busy. Dinner at Napa Grill was terrible. All around, not a great stay.
Like many of the others on this thread I have pretty much nothing but good to say about our experience - from the rapid check in to the TV mounted over the bath tub, this hotel has it all. In particular it has M. Gigeure - a member of the hotel management team who took a particular interest in our comfort. The hotel very much has the feel of a resort within the city limits. The pool area is lovely and it's possible to order lunch and cocktails from your lounger. The bars and restaurants are lovely as well - food is wonderful and service beyond compare. It's nice as well that they have a 4-7 cocktail hour which for a reasonable price gets you a bottomless glass of wine or prosecco and a variety of tasty munchies. The rooms are lovely with premium bedding and therapy tubs. The tubs are extra deep so getting in and out can be a little challenging if you have mobility issues but it's a minor complaint. The complimentary robes and slippers are a treat as are the premium toiletries. You truly get value for money. We'll be back.
