We were in Leadville for the winter train and figured that if we stayed here we won’t have to get up so early. It’s very short distance from the train station. The hotel is nice and very historic. We love the old look and the bar downstairs is awesome. However, due to the preservation of the hotel, there is no elevator so don’t come with lots of stuff. Only bring what you need. Otherwise, you might have a hard time going up the stairs. Another thing is the hotel is known for its haunted stories if you do not like paranormal activities then don’t stay here. You may not be able to sleep. There are several rooms that are known to be haunted per the hotel staff. The hotel provided the list of rooms that are haunted to the guests. I think it would’ve been better if we didn’t know anything about any of these rooms because we were so paranoid about these rooms after knowing about them. Our room was right next to one of the rooms that it’s haunted. Nothing happened, but we were not able to sleep all night long because we were so worried and paranoid that something is gonna happen. Overall the cleanliness and the service were great. After all I love the hotel I would recommend to those who don’t mind paranormal activity but I feel like it is not for us and i am not sure if I will be staying here again. Might stop by the restaurant and the bar down stairs though.

Our stay was negatively impacted by repeated poor customer service from the bar hostess. On our first day, we specifically asked the receptionist whether we could bring our own drinks to the sitting area, and we were told that it was allowed. Based on that information, we felt comfortable doing so during our stay. By our third day, she began putting up signs and continued to harass us, stating, “This is the last time I will tell you,” even though we had already explained that we were acting based on guidance from the front desk. What made this especially uncomfortable was that we felt singled out, and the repeated confrontations came across as targeted and discriminatory, raising serious concerns about possible racial bias. Clear communication between staff and respectful treatment of guests are essential. Unfortunately, this ongoing behavior overshadowed our experience and reflects poorly on the hotel’s customer service standards. I hope management addresses both the inconsistency in policy communication and the lack of professionalism shown.

The overall impression is mixed. The staff is friendly. Our room was on the second floor. The floors are squeaky. When neighbors turn on the water, there’s a lot of noise and whistling. The room itself is small, but it’s okay if you’re tired. There’s no refrigerator or microwave. The mattress is comfortable, but the pillows are not — it would be better to have fewer pillows of higher quality. There are also very few outlets near the bed, and they give a slight electric shock. The thermostat works strangely — no matter what temperature you set, nothing really changes. Parking is a separate issue — it’s almost impossible to find a spot.

The hotel was built in 1886. If you're going to stay for the history, then this place is perfect for you. If you're looking to go to Aspen during the winter, it is not 18 miles away but 140 Mi away around the mountain.

This is definitely a Historic Hotel. The beds could use a little modernization though. Steps going up to the rooms are super steep making it hard to get up with a large suitcase. Staff was friendly and room was clean making our stay comfortable.

Was a pleasant stay. Had a mishap with my pizza, but Alex (front desk) made it right right away without hesitation. There are no microwaves or refrigerators in the rooms :(. The gentlemen that checked me in didn't hesitate to help me with my luggage to the 3rd floor (no elevators and very steep stairs). The beds were extremely comfortable and the pillows were even more awesome than the bed. Walls are thin, but didnt have any issues with other guests getting quiet at a reasonable time. The showers are really small so hard to maneuver in them and the water will got extremely hot multiple times out of now where, but goes back to norm pretty quickly each time. 4 outta 5

The hotel really did a nice job with the renovation in the restaurant and lobby. It's modern, but cozy. The room was great with a high ceiling. The floors squeaked a bit, but hey, it's an old hotel. It's part of the charm!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this little g of a hotel. Cozy, moody, historic, haunted (supposedly) with the nicest staff and the most comfortable rooms. The shower has lots of really hot water and great water pressure. The rooms were quiet, the food was delicious. Walking distance to the Leadville train, shops, restaurants, and bars. What an unexpected treat! Ask the for a print out of all the haunted rooms! Cannot recommend this hotel enough. We loved everything about it. It was so clean and perfect. Be aware, there are no elevators. They do intend to add them next summer. I wouldn’t recommend for mobility limited guests.
