The location of the property cannot be beat. However, the description of the amenities provided was misleading. There was no kayak as listed and the paddle boards and other water supplies were old and falling apart. We ripped our board shorts on the paddle board because it was broken and we were just very thankful it wasn't our flesh. It shouldn't be there as it's a liability. The surfboards were useless, basically garbage. The property was very relaxing and comfortable though, but we were looking forward to using the outdoor water toys as advertised so that was s great disappointment to us. Would have been 5 stars across the board if for better water toys

This property was a true treasure. The river was warm and perfect for paddle boarding or floating. The beach is a local surf beach. You won’t find a lot of tourists here so mind your manners with the locals. You are a visitor in their space. We made a fire right on the beach every night and collected sea glass every morning. A few things to note-1- The drive to the house is tight because everyone parks on the street to access the beach. Be chill and patient and it won’t be an issue. 2- There is no AC anywhere except the base level kitchen (we called it the beer cave). But fans have been provided all over the house and we found this to be sufficient as this side of the island is a lil cooler. 3- There is an Ohana that is absolutely perfect for an extra person or couple. My sister is local and she loved being able to stay with us but still in her own space.4- There are lots of stairs. We didn’t mind this but some families with older folks might.5- Don’t rely on the water gear. There were beach chairs and plenty of towels but boards were trash and no paddles to be found. The kids used them and didn’t care but like other reviewers said, it was a bummer because the river and SUPing was a major reason we booked. I’m sure previous guests are the reason for the state of the boards but it sure would’ve been nice to use them. We would definitely book this place again. Perfect for a family or group to spread out, enjoy peace, and a taste of local life.

Wow! What a place!We love the Big Island, but beaches are few and far between. So having this house ON THE BEACH was amazing! It is literally the only house on Honoli'i Beach, and having the surf break on one side with the river on the other side meant there was something for everyone.The house itself is beautiful and every night we were able to choose a different lanai for happy hour.This was our 10th trip to Hawaii, and we all agreed this was our favorite house.Mahalo!
