We loved our visit. It was a great space with outstanding views. The beds were comfy and everything in good working order. The staff were super kind and helpful (a storm came through and we lost power temporarily).

The main thing about this house is the beautiful view although to be up high you naturally had to drive up there. I would suggest to definitely get there in daytime as the road is gravel and winding and long. This house is part of a camp which was not in session when we were there. The entrance is right across from the office by a small boardwalk. The office is where you check in and we did have a little confusion with the host with communication, but she was very nice and helpful when we connected. There are lots of windows facing the view and an ample living room and kitchen. They provided a Keurig when we asked for it. The price was much lower than surrounding places, the beds comfortable. The house is on several levels so you have to be comfortable with stairs. The house is generally not locked so no key provided but it could be locked from the inside. It felt quiet, peaceful and we left our windows open for the cool breeze although there is AC. The house was clean but trash not emptied in the kitchen. The library had a single bed but it wasn’t actually a bedroom and right off the dining room. The house was on an overlook so maybe not great for little kids. Overall us three ladies really enjoyed our one night stay. It was great to enjoy the cool mountain air! I would recommend if you are not looking for fancy, but a wonderful view and mountain feel. We hiked to Glen Falls which was strenuous coming back up but well worth it. Bridal Veil Falls, Dry Falls great.

Cliffside Cabin is amazing! The cabin is perched atop Little Scaly Mountain and has stunning views of the surrounding valleys and mountains. It rained a good bit while we were there, and the fog and clouds would shift in and out over the days, sometimes opening to reveal the view, sometimes enveloping us in white. It was magical! The cabin is comfortable and basic, providing most of what you need. We didn't realize when we booked that it was actually part of The Mountain Retreat & Learning Center. Cliffside Cabin is one of the main cabins of the center, located in a central location next to the office. Everyone we interacted with was extremely friendly, helpful, and unintrusive, but people wanting more privacy might not enjoy the location. For people who like to hike, the property provides direct access by foot to the Glen Falls and Chinquapin Mountain trails. The staff provided maps and directions, and there are also hikes and beautiful areas to explore on the property itself.
