Looking for an experience? Our stay at Hakone Fuga was oozing with Japanese authenticity and traditional charm. Spacious room for a family of 4 and the private onsen on our balcony was a welcoming site after days of walking the streets of Osaka nd Kyoto! While a bit remote, we loved our stay at Hakone Fuga.
Hot springs are nice and very relaxing. The only inconvenience is that they don´t have service restaurant without previous reservation, and that was not clarified at reservation time, so, I couln´t buy dinner inside the hotel
Impressed with the staff and service. Nice touch with the welcome drink at check in. We had not ordered dinner and they happily drove us to a local eatery and picked us up when we were done. Breakfast was great. The room was average, but clean. The onsen nice! Great for place for couples. Will return.
This place was amazing! The room was very comfortable and the service was really good. I’d love to stay here again when I come back to Hakone. It was not the easiest place to find though (with the bus) but it was ok considering what we got at the hotel.
We spent 2 nights here while on honeymoon. Nothing to fault with the place. Cleanliness was off the charts and so was service. We would love to come back again. Thank you!
Hotel Fuga is Japanese paradise. The people working at the hotel are the ultimate when it comes to hospitality and service. Check in was very nice when we were seated to a complimentary beverage and cake because it was Christmas. The facility was beautiful and tastefully furnished. Our room included breakfast In the dining area. Each dish was artfully arranged and delicious. Upon leaving we were driven by the shuttle to our bus stop for Togendai.
This was my second stay here. It would be my only choice visiting Hakone.
This was a real treat-- I was fortunate to get a great deal on one of the few remaining rooms, and I was amazed at how luxurious the hotel and grounds were. From the complimentary glass of wine at check in, to the beautiful foliage view from my room, to the wonderful onsen baths, to the delicious breakfast-- everything was top of the line.
I stayed here overnight towards the end of my trip so I could unwind after two weeks of pretty fast-paced travel. The hot tub was amazing - so good for sore muscles and so relaxing - and the apartment (I can't call it anything less than that) was gorgeous. I also appreciated the free drinks and nibbles that were available.
This ryokan is a little bit out of the way compared to some of the other ones in the area (still accessible via public transport) - I'd probably choose a different one if I was looking to explore Hakone - but for my purposes it was perfect.
The hotel is a bit of the beaten track. The rooms are not too big but comfortable and the bathrooms could be a bit more luxurious. The spa, especially the outdoor tub is very relaxing in a tranquil setting. we opted for dinner at the hotel and the qualir ty of the food was exceptional.
A smaller style property, very clean and stylish. Jazz plays in the foyer and there is a nice small bar. Our room was larger than others we’ve stayed in which was a treat.
We stayed here to visit Hakone. It was fairly straight forward to get to Hakone proper, though this property is a little out of the way and at busy times of day the buses in this area are unreliable and often late. I think if we were visiting again we’d choose somewhere closer to Hakone or Hakone Yumoto.
The hotel offers free shuttle pick up and drop off to nearby locations which made transport connections easier. The breakfast offered is only Japanese style set menu (no Western breakfast offered, though we thought this was an option when we booked). Tasty. Similarly, the dinner is a long set course meal of traditional and locally sourced foods - definitely an excellent meal, though quite expensive (was about ¥10000JPY each I think). There are a couple of noodle places for dinner nearby but not much to choose from.
TLDR: hotel great, location not so good, food traditional and a bit expensive.

Nice stay
Food was great, rooms were very nice, clean and friendly staff. Jacuzzi was wasted opportunity.. Replace with a proper rotemburo. Outside onsen needs a good scrub down on bottom. Bed side table looks out of place.. Old looking..
This is a beautiful hotel! The onsen was nice. As was the spa. I had both the Japanese and Western style breakfasts and found both to be tasty. All of the staff are very polite and helpful. There is also a car that will take you to several places nearby that I found very convenient. There are some great things to do nearby like the Choanji Temple and train/bus stops that will take you to all of the area sights. I highly recommed this hotel!
