We had a really nice stay overall. The house itself is cute, cozy, and well-stocked with thoughtful touches like board games, DVDs, and streaming apps. The waterfront setting is beautiful! We loved sitting at the kitchen table watching wildlife and even spotted eagles and osprey.A couple of things to be aware of: the bedroom layout doesn’t allow for full privacy, as there are open spaces on the sides of the rooms. This may not matter to everyone, but it was challenging for us since sound travels easily between rooms and some of us are very light sleepers. The only bathroom is downstairs, and the stairs are quite steep, so something to keep in mind for nighttime use.We also ran into an issue with the heat downstairs not working during a cold, 40 degree weekend, which made it pretty uncomfortable and unfortunately wasn’t resolved during our stay. Parking is shared with the other property and can be a bit confusing at first when arriving, and it’s very dark at night due to limited lighting (the street light was not working). That said, we really enjoyed the area. The island is charming, the people were friendly, and we had great meals at the two local spots. It’s also a quick drive to Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, which was a highlight. While the home has a lot of charm and could be perfect for a couple, the layout and heating issue would make me hesitant to stay again with a group.
