Confusing check in process. Restaurant staff is your only point of contact. When restaurant closes, you have no one to reach out to (Only open 10a-10p). Uncomfortable bed in a tiny room. Room not well cleaned.
Wanted convenient hotel..not in the heart of the city and not at the airport.. with restaurant to spend our last 2 days in Scotland. Room was well appointed…large rain shower. Restaurant and bar were busy with locals…great food, service, selection at reasonable prices. Thanks to Mike for a warm welcome and help in getting around
The staff were amazing and friendly and very helpful. We honestly couldn't have asked for better staff.
We booked a Deluxe King Room and we were disappointed as it was rather a small room. In the description for the room there was a cappuccino machine (as well as a kettle) heating and the room was soundproof. There was a kettle but no cappuccino machine, the heating was a space heater that was rather noisy when turned on. and the room was most definitely not soundproofed as we could hear the music from the bar downstairs and our tv when we went into the hall. But the most disappointing thing was the bed. It was so uncomfortable. We could feel every spring in the mattress and none of us slept at all.
Also there were two lights out in the bathroom so we were basically showering in darkened room.
The people were great but I would hardly call this a hotel. The rooms were tiny and nothing like the photos on the web. There was no lobby and you entered the room from an outside concrete stairway. I would call it a couple of rooms above a bar rather than a hotel. There wasn’t even a chair to sit on in the room.
Everything about this room was wonderful!… H the staff were amazing !! Anything I needed he was there for us. Super fun and friendly loved the Torfin! Would definitely stay here again!
We chose this hotel because of its proximity to the airport. Our experience was disappointing. When we got there, the restaurant was closed and that is where you check in to the hotel. It was raining and we had to walk around the property and stand outside trying to figure out how to check in. We ended up having to scream through a window until somebody heard us. The person that finally opened the door and checked us in was apologetic and very nice. The rooms are in the back of the restaurant and there is no lift, which is inconvenient when you have a lot of luggage. The rooms were small but comfortable. The location is only 10 minutes from the airport. So that is convenient. We did not eat there so we cannot comment on the food, which is supposed to be very good.
I think the experience would have been better if they would have explained the check in process ahead of time.
Perfect spot for our last night in Scotland. Small hotel above a great local restaurant/pub. Room was clean and comfortable and the staff very helpful before and during our stay. Friendly staff at the pub, too. Primary reason for booking this location was easy access to the airport for an early morning flight and so for that reason: mission accomplished. Easy access from Haymarket Station when arriving and 10-minute morning cab ride to the airport.
Staff was wonderful. However, the room was stuffy and loud. Located on a busy street. If you open the window, which is the only way to cool off the room, the traffic noise makes sleeping difficult.
Again, the staff who welcomed us were lovely. Best part of the experience. Room: not so great.
