Unique find!

Very unique hotel in a historic building. Any questions or needs were handled by Megan, Lindsey and other available staff. I look forward to staying again and seeing renovations in progress. Great location especially if you like to gamble!

Very convenient location for DT and shoreline

Really cool set up. Inconvenient with the shared restroom that requires code entry. However it was the cheapest place I found in Duluth while being super convenient in the DT area. Cheap parking ramp across the street. I had my son so couldn’t experience but noticed the downstairs pub with live music, really cool impression. Only issue I had was 1 associate in customer service was super incompetent. First call I did was to verify my reservation and he couldn’t understand I didn’t want to make a reservation. Second time I assume same guy I inquired and reiterated I wasn’t canceling but wanted to be educated on the canceling process. He still attempted to cancel my reservation and thank god a different associate contacted me who could actually understand English, so the process was stopped. Just super annoying. Place is totally worth it and the manager and this other associate had awesome customer service.

Beautiful room with amazing lake view. Property is under construction, but I can imagine it'll be wonderful when done! Responsive staff. Convenient location in downtown Duluth.

The hotel was under construction which we found out about the day before. It got to be loud around 7am with them starting work which was not fun! The hotel otherwise was cute and very clean. We had issues finding our room and they were very quick and responsive on getting back to us. They had a few snacks and easy instructions on getting inside. The hotel is across from a casino and packing garage. It is convient to park there, however there are a lot of homeless people out asking for money ask you are going back and forth to your car. The parking garage is locked with a code you get when you pay though, which was nice.

Liked this business concept. But the remodel makes "Everything" outside the room is chaos. Bar is closed on Sunday and Monday. Neither mentioned on Expedia when making reservation. Wonderfully unique room. Great room amenities; fireplace, dimmable chandelier, massage shower. But no chair? Or stool near bkfst bar. Beds are super comfy! Nice break from the busy city right outside the door. Thanks!

Fun room and environment.

The only wish or thing we would suggest is door barrier to hall. Guests were out socializing- being respectful - but the environment had an echo and even the quiet voices were loud for us. This included the gap at floor if door in bathroom. It was odd!

Charming!

This was such a fun and unique place to stay. We went in not knowing what to expect and were completely charmed. The place (at least the first floor) is under renovation, but they confine the work to M-F working hours and we never heard any construction noise from our room on the second floor. Do not let the construction scare you away. The room was large, with everything we needed, and comfortable. The mattresses were comfortable, the temperature was easily controlled, there were sufficient pillows and towels, the place had personality, and it was clean. We were able to hear road noise, but it was fairly constant and not a bother. We never heard any other guests. The location feels safe (there was some loitering outside the casino across the street, but I never felt unsafe), but we were always in by 9 so I cannot speak to what it is like later at night. Overall, the only drawback was the parking situation - small town rural girl, so it took a bit to figure out the parking garage across the street and the on street parking (which is on an app). The Oliver Inn (as clearly stated) does not have any dedicated parking. I thought we were prepared, but there is not even a loading/unloading zone, so be prepared to carry your bags and everything from the parking garage. Take the time to go down to the Rathskeller - it is worth a visit and the drinks are delicious.

What a refreshing experience compared to normal hotel stays. Unique features, tons of parking, shops, dining, etc. Has its own personality and the rooms are in great shape. Very secure with all the passcodes, will look here first next time I am in Duluth.

We really loved the art all around the building. Very esthetically pleasing. It was exactly what we were hoping for. Parking was the only downside. Overall it was a great place! It was a very special weekend getaway for us and we got engaged in the room. The set up we got for the romance proposal package was wonderful and really made it special.

It is super cute, clean, and beautiful. Having no windows was not a problem, and the heater, fan, beds, microwave, and sink were lovely features. The stone walls are very cool, as is the general aesthetic. We had a shared bathroom, but it was no problem with 2 bathrooms shared between 4 rooms. I never once saw anyone else using it. The beds are nice and comfy and they give you a million pillows. What could be bit of an issue were the loud people from the Speakeasy located nearby. They are frequently up quite late laughing and yelling. If you go to sleep early, then you probably want to avoid the hostel rooms. The property COULD do a better job about enforcing the quiet hours. That said, it was no problem for us, and eventually they quieted down. We will definitely be back.
