Another good stay, some improvements needed

My second day at the Forest of Arden Hotel was another good one. It wasn’t 100% great as there are a few things that unfortunately let it down. Overall, the staff are wonderful! Every single member of staff that I dealt with was excellent and could not fault them one bit. My main issue is with elements of the service. I booked a half board rate and the fact that this excluded me from being able to have room service was quite weird, I also find it odd that you have a completely separate menu for people with a half board rate. I don’t know why that’s even a thing! I was happy to pay the difference but I was told that this wouldn’t be acceptable. They don’t make this clear when you book either so be aware that the food options are incredibly limiting if you book the half board rate. The rooms also need a little bit of TLC. I had booked a premium room, which was incredibly spacious but battered up and rundown in some areas. It’s well overdue for a refresh but it was very clean nonetheless. The pool was also incredibly cold, and I found that the showers in the ladies changing rooms were quite dirty and smelly.

A beautiful hotel, the rooms are spacious. Our 7 year old loved the pool and the basket ball nets in the grounds. The breakfast buffett is amazing we have never seen so many options.
