We had a wonderful relaxing stay at this ryokan and thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The property is best accessed by car, and the scenic drive up was a highlight in itself. If you are traveling by public transit, the hotel may offer a shuttle service to and from the nearest train station, but you will want to contact them directly ahead of time to confirm details and schedules. The hot spring facilities are fantastic. Public baths are open 24 hrs, making it easy to soak early in the morning or late at night. They are very clean. Private family bath can be reserved for a free 50-min. It is perfect if you prefer not to use the shared baths. Note that while our room had its private bathroom, it uses standard tap water. The actual hot spring water is exclusively in the 1st floor public and family baths. Both Japanese style breakfast and dinner were exceptional. Every meal featured fresh, locally sources ingredients were prepared. We stayed in a traditional Japanese tatami room. Just a heads-up: while you are out having dinner and breakfast, the staff will enter your room to set up and put away your futons, so don't be surprised!! The staff members were warm, welcoming, and very attentive, with a few team members speaking multiple languages to assist international guests. Overall, it was an excellent experience from start to finish. We would love to return on our next trip!
