Spacious rooms, clean bathrooms and very friendly staff. Self serve laundry was a huge plus. Breakfast buffet had a little of options and was well stocked. We enjoyed our two nights here and would return to the same hotel if ever back in Yakushima.

JR Hotel exceeded all of my and my husband's expectations. From the moment we arrived, staff were incredibly helpful and patient. They escorted us to our room and in detail explained the onsen process and all of the amenities in the room and throughout the resort. The morning we left, the front desk staff loaded all of our bags onto the public bus for us. Truly top notch service. The breakfast was a large buffet of both Japanese and Western options, and dinner was delicious although it was honestly probably too much food! The onsen is small but a nice touch for a hotel, and feels great after a long day of hiking. The hotel's gift shop was also impressive; we purchased several gifts to bring back to the states. Last but not least, the view from our room was absolutely stunning. It felt like we were on a cruise ship because the hotel is right along the coast and all you see from your room is water. Overall a wonderful experience; you will not regret staying here.

Excellent hotel with onsen

We loved the hotel. Comfortable beds, courteous staff, (nude) onsen (men and women separated but young kids of both genders can come in with one parent), food delicious. The only minor issue is that you have to decide in advance at what time you would like to have dinner and what you are going to eat (I guess that they want to make sure that they have enough tables and that the food you like is available). Not close to some of the hiking places but the fantastic natural onsen at the ocean that is only accessible at low tide is only about 1500 ยฅ away by taxi.
