Had a short four night stay (checking out this morning) - was allocated room 915 with a great view of the South Gate and wall - imposing in the day - brilliant at night. My review this time relates to the inhouse service during my stay. The Concierge and bell hops helped at all times during my stay..always smiling - their limited English was definitely better than my limited Mandarin. The reception staff were efficient and welcoming - only hiccup was a request for a RMB 2,000 deposit although I had prepaid, with breakfast, via my local travel agency in Hangzhou. This was sorted to a RMB 500 deposit which was just enough to cover my incidentals. I'd reckon a deposit of RMB 1,000 would be practical if you are staying approx seven days. The buffet breakfast in Cafe 21 is good...plenty of choices - I enjoyed freshly cooked omelettes each morning - well done again to the omelette chefs. I also enjoyed one evening meal from their "a la carte menu". For Halloween last night there was a special buffet - I invited my local friend to enjoy the spooky decorations and absolutely creepy desserts - it was fun. Dined two nights at the Golden Dynasty Chinese restaurant on 2F - nice menu choices - enjoyed the spicy crispy chicken snack and the mushroom soup in particular. When the waitresses and I had any trouble with communications we went to our translator apps -this created a few laughs - I did order Tsing Tao Beer which is Qingdao Pijiu in Mandarin - and had it cold "Bing"... if you want a cold beer just ask for "bing Qingdao Pijiu" ..it won me. The room was the same size as in my first review - large, comfortable and quiet. It is affordable at around AUD$105 inc breakfast and wifi. If you like the South Gate area and want easy accessibility to nearby malls, metro and the main attractions inside the wall - this hotel will suit.
Very nice hotel with fantastic rooms and view of the hisoric center of Xi'am. The room was wide amb very confortable for 3 people. Great buffet for breakfast. We enjoy a lot there. Walking you can go to the ancient wall and inside the streets. Nice.
When I've arrived to the hotel, the reservation made on Hotels.com was not even in the hotel's system. I spend half hour there, by the lobby, waiting and waiting. Four people by the desk, only one speaks a little bit of English. My passport taken from me for a while, then returned back, then taken again. I was trying to ask people what's going on, but instead of some answers, there was just stupid laugh from these other three people who didn't understand English. I was really pissed.... Finally I got my room. Location of the hotel is really great. The view from hotel's room was great too. The service by the desk was less than poor. When I was checking out, also there were some weird questions which I couldn't understand and there was again that stupid teenager's style laugh from the service desk crew. I am not recommending this place ONLY because of the unprofessional service they perform.
While to reservation staff was nice and the hotel was suitable, we felt ripped off by the guys working at the Concierge's desk when we left. We asked for a taxi to take us to the airport. Although the fare should have been 60 CNY the concierge working told the cab driver to charge us 120 CNY. I tried repeatedly to contact the hotel to let them know that concierge took advantage of the fact we were American tourists but the hotel never responded to any of my emails. We also used the hotel car to go on a tour of the Terra-cotta Warriors which costed 450 CNY. We think they had a tour guide waited to try and convince us to use her when we arrived. We did use her and she was fine but she became somewhat irritated with is when we did not want to purchase anything in the local stores she took us in. Maybe the cost of the hotel car was too expensive, too. The driver was nice. However, I would not stay here again because of the experience with the taxi service when we were leaving.
Located conveniently within earshot distance from the south gate, Ginwa plaza hotel is a clean and nice hotel but it has a 20 year old loot that is yelling to be renovated. I the other hand the price per room is very reasonable hat one can certainly able to overlook the details.
We had a conference at Xi'an organiser selected this hotel, I spent 5 nights in here. Ginwa location is great, just opposite to ancient city wall south gate. - 10 mins walk to the south gate tourist centre entrance and park - 20-25 mins walk to bell tower - 5 mins walk to Yongning Man Zhan subway, which will bring you anywhere in the city My room overlooking City wall great view. Rooms are dated but clean and tidy. Conference facilities are modern with big LED screen. The gym has several machines on the 2/F along the hall way, don't think anyone use it lack of privacy . I shall rate this as a mediocre hotel. Chinese restaurant food was good. A pleasant stay !
Met promptly and checked in with no hassle. Shown to lovely room with view to city wall and south gate. All staff at this hotel from the cleaners and laundry staff to the reception team went out of their way to provide assistance. Our laundry came back the same day with a 1 yeun coin that had been found in my pocket and a note from the laundry staff wishing us a good stay. The facilities are a little dated but the service more than made up for it. We had a buffet breakfast each day which had a lot of variety and was well attended by the staff. Thanks for a great stay HJ.
I think this one is my worst 5*hotel stay, the only +thing about this hotel is the location, and I dont think this hotel worth a 5*,perhaps 3+ plus is quite good already. Breakfast was awful,Another 3 star hotel will b better, wifi was not working properly, hot water was not stabil Will sure not to stay at this worst hotel anymore and sure will not recommend this hotel to anyone
Recommended by my tour operator...it is a clean and tidy hotel, the lobby and reception areas make a good first impression. Reception, restaurant staff, bellhops and the concierge have good English. The location is directly across the road from the city wall, which is stunningly lit at night. There is a metro station about 500 metres to the right of the hotel, Further along are some high end shopping malls with huge range of products and food options. About 20 mins walk through the South gate are the Bell and Drum towers as well as the Muslim Street. The rooms are very comfortable, I was in room 615 for three days, checking out this morning. The bed was just right...excellent sleep..the room was reasonably sound proof, after 10.30pm the passing traffic drops off. The bathroom had a separate shower and bath, plenty of workspace and a tv that pivots around as you need. The free wi-fi throughout the hotel and rooms was fine for my needs - ok for laptop or smart phone. Had breakfast in Cafe 21 each morning, the omelets are cooked fresh and to order...well done to the egg chef...they were delicious. The cooked buffet options should satisfy all tastes...it was constantly refreshed with hot food. Also had lunch there yesterday....would you believe I had a great burger and chips...very tasty. Also had dinner there on Friday evening with my local friend, we both enjoyed a steak with vegetables...nice! Had dinner last Thursday night in the second floor Golden Dynasty Chinese restaurant...enjoyed a shredded chicken dish, pork noodles and shredded cold mushroom salad...all were delicious. This is a good hotel..it's definitely ok for tourists depending on your budget.
I stayed here with my tour group. When the bus pulled up to the entrance to the parking lot the guard wanted us to unload out luggage there while it was pouring rain. The walk to the actual hotel must have been at least 30 to 40 meters, uncovered. Our tour guide told him he was crazy and had the bus driver go to the entrance of the building. The breakfast staff also tried to tell us that our rooms each only came with one breakfast, despite their being all rooms with two beds meant for two guests. The fault here lies not with her, but probably with the failure in internal hotel communication. The free wifi required accepting the TOS every few minutes for it to continue to work. This made it impossible to do any meaningful work. This was not a problem on our end, as the same thing happened on three different devices. Some positives: The hotel was quiet, the bed was comfortable unlike typical Chinese beds, and the television was pretty big.
