We were meant to stay at the Grand Mercure but were bumped down to the Mercure. The hotel was still of a great standard - very comfortable rooms, very quiet and laundry was reasonably priced. We had our meals at the nearby Sofitel (part of the complex) and the food was excellent with a good variety.
We arrived on Sunday 15 Oct and departed on 18 Oct. Room was the right size and extremely comfortable on the ground level with right amount of airconditioning. Very clean and pleasant to return to rest after a whole day out exploring the streets of Xian and food for the duration of stay. Staff were courteous and willing to help. Felt very safe and secure all the time in the guarded compound of the Remin Square. Thank you to all the staff for excellent services and smiles all around. Leong and Wai
The Mercure gave us what we wanted, comfort, quiet and peaceful. Less plush and glitzy than its neighboring Granid Mercure and Sofitel the subdued old world elegance was a welcoming, warm and comfortable. Set in large leafy grounds one still enjoyed a sumptuous breakfast and drinks in the modern Sofitel next led beside the Mercure. As it was the last hotel on the block one was protected from the bustle of arrivals and departures which was very pleasant. The location was perfect for visiting the sites and walking the ancient city wall, the Muslim markets and the local famous Big Hong Kong Restaurant.
I booked this before reading the trip advisor reviews and when I did I was a bit apprehensive. However, when we got there the room was clean, the beds comfortable and we had no problem communicating with the reception staff. There are no actual laundry facilities on site unless you want to pay for the hotel to do it for you.
Stayed here as part of a group. We were supposed to stay at the Grand Mecure but they were full. All food options are available at the Sofitel as are most of the facilities. The rooms are very small but they have all amenities except a bath. Staff are very helpful. Good location. The gym at the Sofitel is adequate and the buffet breakfast excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would stay again.
My husband and I stayed here for two nights. The room was small but nice. They gave robes and slippers and many small amenities. The front desk was very helpful they arranged a taxi to the terra cotta warriors and the wild goose pagoda at a reasonable price.
The hotel is situated in a nice Renmin Square among other luxurious hotels. It's very neat, well kept, and private square. You cannot hear the traffic outside and it feels very safe as the square has 24hours a day security at the front. Mercure hotel is one of the hotels in the square, and my experience with the hotel is rather poor. The room is old and dirty. Given the luxury front and the majestic feeling of other hotels in the square, this hotel does not share that sense of luxury. Stayed in two rooms, both smelled like cigarette. The carpet is visually dirty. The bed must be 50 years old. It makes a lot of noise just sitting on it, feel hard and hallow. I would not stay there again.
This hotel is priced amazingly by North American standards...the buffet breakfast is very good and only $15 canadian. The room was clean and comfortable and room service was reasonable. The front staff were very helpful and there was always someone who spoke English.
We arrived very early and weren't able to check in I know it's not expected but I always rate a hotel that allows their guests in early if they can and we had been travelling for 12 hours. The room was very nice with a very comfy bed, dressing gowns and slippers. The location was very good, the doorman arranged for a taxi to take us to their terracotta warriors which was reasonable priced and offered good advise to go as early as possible. We got there at 8 and saw most things by 9:30 at which point it was 5 people deep in order to get to the front being crushed. The only downsides was that the shower seemed to only be hot or cold and although we had access to the pool at the Sofitel that was also cold.
Rooms were nice and clean and very spacious. The staff were very helpful they accommodated us with all our needs. Breakfast was plentiful close to shops and restaurants. I would recommend this hotel if ever u are in china.
