Stayed one night when touring Wake Forest--just a few minutes away. Perfect for our family of six. We had a 2 bedroom, 2 bath unit with small living room and kitchen. Very comfortable and clean, breakfast was good, outdoor pool nice and a good way to cool off from the heat. There's a Dunkin Donuts, Baskin-Robbins, Dominos and Little Caesar's next door which is handy. Only negative was that the busy road runs right by the hotel but not a big deal really.
Bathroom was filthy. 2 different species of bugs in the bathroom. Pubic hairs on the floor. We had to wear flip flops to take a shower. Black/brown/greenish grime and filth in the grout on the tiles. Kitchen was filthy. Dust and grim on the shelves. Slime on the refrigerator shelves. Paid for a King size bed and received a full size bed. Was told by front desk there was an oven in the room when I purchased a pizza (that needed an oven to cook it) from the lobby convenience store. There was no oven in the room. That too was a waste of money. Over crowded parking lot. Construction materials on the side walk from the car to the room. ***The lady who ran the breakfast room is awesome. Soooo helpful and accommodating. She took great pride in her position and I was very impressed with her.
My wife and I were put into Suite 613, a handicapped suite. We followed the directions of desk staff on where to park. Amazingly, this necessitated going up 5 steps. We would been unable to do this if a couple of men from the staff had not come by to assist us with our luggage. They told us that we should have parked in a different area where we would not have to negotiate any steps and said that the front desk should have told us this. When we got to the room, the temp. was 80 degrees. I set the thermostat to 63, and as this was intolerable, we decided to go out to eat. When we came back, the temp. was 82! I complained to the desk who put us into Suite 511 next door. This was a regular room, which was much bigger and better equipped. We learned that all of Residence Inn's handicapped rooms are comparatively tiny compared to a regular room, and in either one you're going to have to negotiate the same bathtub side in order to take a bath. Handicapped rooms have queen beds and regular rooms have king beds. When I checked out, the lady at the desk blamed me for the temperature problem in the room, stating that my setting the thermostat to 63 caused the A/C to "freeze up." Needless to say, we won't be staying in a Residence Inn in the future.
I recently had to visit Winston-Salem unexpectedly because of a car accident involving some family. On the way to the city, I picked this hotel from the Marriot app without giving it much thought. As I had to deal with quite a bit in getting family squared away, it sure did help that the staff at this property was so kind and helpful. I stay at a lot of Marriot properties and generally the staffs are professional and helpful. That said, there is a limit to what you can reasonably expect. In this case, this staff did everything they could to take what they could off my very full plate. For their efforts, and always with a smile, I am eternally grateful. So, if you're looking for a place to stay with a warm and inviting staff, you won't go wrong here.
We stayed at this Residence Inn this past weekend driving there in a Tesla from Washington DC. I asked the team about charging the car and they were very helpful providing me a place to charge overnight. They were very flexible and accommodating. The rooms are spacious and clean. Overall the facility is well cared for. It is made up of several buildings with a parking lot running through it. If you're going as a group with multiple rooms, suggest asking to stay in the same building. Pool and outside sitting area are nice. No Bar on site. mav PS -- don't order from the dominos nearby. They are completely incompetent.
A bit off the beaten path, the Residence Inn may look like it has seen better days , but in actuality it is really very nice. The set up is like a small apartment complex with lots of greenery. Rooms are large and well appointed with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Very quiet too. The first floor rooms have a patio area.
I have this by monthly conference in Winston Salam NC and so far I have stayed at the Residence Inn Marriott several time in fact this is the only place I will stay. Even in a snow storm this hotel staff goes out of their way to accommodate and meet my needs, from the front desk staff with their warm smiles to maintenance with their southern hospitality. After a good night's sleep, the breakfast ladies, Precious, Theresa, Yolanda and Cynthia will have a delicious hot breakfast ready for you to start your day. These ladies are very caring and go out of their way to ensure you have delightful breakfast experience. They were all very pleasing and sincerely cared about each and every person going through their breakfast room. Thanks to these 5 wonderful ladies for a very enjoyable stay. By Tawanda Shaw
The staff was wonderful. The breakfast crew Cynthia, Theresa, Precious, and Yolanda was totally helpful and courteous. Cynthia was also great for the dinner social also. They good selection on complimentary breakfast. On Mondays thru Wednesday they have even socials that provide dinner. It was a great location, close to a lot of other amnesties in town.
Best place I have ever stayed. The staff here is beyond kind and pleasant. I appreciate the breakfast ladies Precious, Theresa, Yolanda and Cynthia. They consistently create a wonderful breakfast layout. Delicious choices, always exceptionally clean and right there anticipating every need. Cynthia sets up a lovely Evening Social. Never feel like a stranger here at the residence inn. I must admit that Regina is my favorite housekeeper. I feel spoiled by her wonderful care to me. She remembers my name and always leaves my room as if it was my first day here and she always leaves a note. Best place for a person traveling alone to a new city. What a joy to have made such wonderful new friends.
When most hotels offer complimentary breakfast, it's usually bagels, fruit and orange juice. The Residence Inn Winston Salem offers turkey sausage, bacon, grits, oatmeal, home fries, scrambled eggs, egg whites, boiled eggs, blueberry waffles, etc... More importantly, the ladies who served the breakfast were phenomenal!!! Cynthia, Yolanda, Theresa, and Precious went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure everyone had whatever they needed. Annie Hall is running an excellent hotel, and I recommend this hotel to anyone who visits Winston Salem, NC.
