We stayed at Spicer Castle Inn while celebrating a friend's birthday. It is a beautiful Inn located on a gorgeous lakeshore setting. The food was phenomenal, the staff super friendly, the bartender was one of the most fun individuals we have ever met and the room was very cozy. We are already planning on going back to participate in one of their Murder Mystery Dinners. We would highly recommend Spicer Castle Inn.

A rustic, history home in a perfect setting to get away from the noise of life. A delightful adventure, good food, and a fun setting to enjoy. Breakfasts are included and dinners are available (and good). The lake is beautiful and the neighboring towns are genuinely interesting: from the Harley shop in Raymond, to mr. B' Chocoltes in Willmar.

We spent our 25th anniversary at Spicer castle! We would definitely recommend this bed-and-breakfast to our friends and family! ❤️ The hospitality and conversation was wonderful. The staff was all very friendly and helpful. We went into Willmar for supper under the recommendation of one of the staff as the restaurant at the castle was not open on Monday nights. Her recommendation did not disappoint! 🤗 We really enjoyed listening to Allen tell us the history of the house and of his family over breakfast. We stayed on a Monday so we had the house to ourselves. We watched the sunset over the lake as we drink wine and had chocolate covered strawberries provided by the Castle. 🥂 It was the perfect ending to a perfect day! We enjoyed all the sights and sounds of nature while we took in the property. We stayed in masons room and it was very nice. A couple of the windows were facing the lake so you can also see the sunset from the room. We can't wait to go back again!

Surprise birthday weekend was MORE than we hoped for! What a great place to get away from things for a weekend!! Will DEFINITELY be coming back!! The history behind the castle was extremely interesting and the facility was perfect for what we needed! The staff was very helpful and pleasant to converse with and coffee was ready first thing in the morning! The food was incredible for the dinner theatre but the breakfast was truly and experience!! Could not have asked for a better stay!

I was looking for a fun and different place to take my wife for her surprise 50th birthday. She had mentioned once that she would like to go to a Murder Mystery Dinner, and this place popped up on a google search. What better place to experience this but in a 1895 bed and breakfast where all the rooms are pretty much original. Most of the furnishings and decor appear to be original and you are completely surrounded by authentic antiques, old family photos and the smell of a summer cottage. When we pulled up at Spicer Castle, it looked and felt like we had gone back in time. The place isn't fancy, looks a little neglected and reminded me of a rustic fishing lodge that had recently been discovered and re-opened after being closed up for decades. If you're looking for luxury accommodations or expect the Hilton, you are definitely in the wrong place. No TV's (a real plus), but all rooms have air conditioners, electricity, bathrooms, and Wi-Fi. Breakfast and dinner are served on the glassed in porch overlooking the lake. The staff was very welcoming, friendly and ready to make your stay a memorable experience. You can actually have a cocktail prepared by the desk clerk while checking in at the front desk, or help yourself to a cup of coffee or glass of ice tea. Food options were simple and delicious and they were even able to accommodate our special dietary request for gluten free! At first we were a little stressed because it wasn't exactly what we thought it would be, but our stress quickly disappeared, and a sudden calm came over us. We felt like we had finally escaped the 21st century, and time actually seemed to stand still. We wished we could have stayed longer!

Hubby and I went here for our anniversary. Stayed in a cabin. Not a great experience for lots of reasons, but my story with management really sums it up … I left something expensive there that staff literally just took home. When I called to retrieve it they lied to me - multiple times - and said they didn't have it … until I wouldn't let it go. Then staff told me that an employee just had to come to the hotel on her day off and show them where it is. Strange right? They didn't realize I was just around the corner, so when the employee arrived I was already at the hotel and I literally saw her take it from her car. Then staff tried to tell me she got it from a back room, and when I called them on that they changed the story. They lied to me countless times, literally in front on management. It was so insulting because they couldn't even keep the lies straight, so they kept changing them. Beware - there is no accountability there. Management has clearly given up. There's tons of maintenance, cleanliness and professionalism reasons not to stay here. But all you need to know is that staff felt comfortable enough to blatantly steal from me and obviously lie about it IN FRONT OF MANAGEMENT.

This hotel could be a little cleaner, it was interestiing and fun since it was built in the 1800s, the staff was very nice and helpful. We couldn't get on wifi though. It just could use some updates. The lake view was beautiful.

This was built in 1895, so time has taken a toll, but that's part of its charm. If you are looking for all the modern conveniences, this isn't the place to go. But if you are looking for good food, good service, a relaxing view of the lake or a relaxing place to read a book, this is the place. We loved the antiques spread around the house. The breakfast was excellent. We would definitely go back.

We had a lovely quiet getaway not too far from our home in Marshall, MN at the Spicer Castle Inn. Good service, delicious breakfast, lovely afternoon tea. Great view of the lake from our second floor in Russell's Room. Interesting to find out more about the history of the home from Spicer's grandson.

The staff is great and easy to just have casual conversations with. The Castle is simple and not overbearing. The rooms are well thought-out and nicely isolated from one another. The food was fantastic and every meal a delicious treat. We went late winter, but a summer or fall trip would have some fantastic walks
