This was our third trip. We look forward to every kind.
One big reason people plan a trip to Williamsburg in Virginia is often to see Colonial Williamsburg. While that living-history museum is part of the Historic Triangle and definitely worth your time, there is more to Williamsburg than just that. Start off a unique city trip in one of the boutique hotels this city has to offer for a relaxed and unique city getaway.
As mentioned, Williamsburg is famous for its historic relevance. However, Williamsburg has been quite important to the state of Virginia for another reason for years now. It is home to the Williamsburg Winery, which is responsible for one-quarter of all the wine that is produced in the state. Of course, you can do various wine tastings here and learn more about its history. If you plan to visit, schedule in dinner here as well, which will include delectable wines to compliment the food.
There are several art galleries and museums to discover in the city. The Muscarelle Museum of Art is a famous example. No need to stop there. In the area surrounding Colonial Williamsburg, many studios and galleries are open for you to visit. Anything from contemporary art to cutting-edge works of art has found their home in Williamsburg.
You will soon discover that Williamsburg has many sights to explore and there is no need to only stick to the most famous hotspots. If you are lucky and visit Williamsburg around September-November, you might catch Williamsburg Fall Arts. This festival combines theatre, music, arts, crafts, and food into one amazing happening.
