Moonlight Ridge Cabin — Listing Description
4.99 stars across 162 ratings — Guests tell us the photos don't do it justice. The views are bigger, the quiet is deeper, and the cabin is even more comfortable than it looks. Come see for yourself.
Perched on 15 private acres bordering the Flathead National Forest, Moonlight Ridge sits high above Bootjack Lake with panoramic views of the mountain ranges west of Glacier National Park. It's the kind of place where you'll spend your mornings with coffee on the deck watching the sunrise, your evenings grilling dinner as the light fades over the mountains, and your nights around the fire pit under some of the clearest skies in the country. And when you finally head inside, the beds are so comfortable that guests call it the best sleep they've had in a while.
Just 30 minutes from downtown Whitefish. A world away from everything else.
A Day at Moonlight Ridge
Morning: Wake up to golden light spilling across the mountain ranges. Make coffee — you've got a Chemex pour-over, a Keurig, and a drip maker — and take it out to the deck. This is where you'll want to be. Guests tell us they spend hours here and never get tired of the view.
Daytime: Hike right from the property into the Flathead National Forest — over 2.4 million acres of trails, lakes, and wildlife, no driving required. Or take the 30-minute drive into Whitefish for restaurants, shops, and mountain biking. Glacier National Park is about an hour away. The nearby lake is just a mile down the road for fishing and views.
Evening: Cook dinner in the fully stocked kitchen — pots, pans, a full knife set, gas stove, and everything you'd need to make a real meal. Eat on the 330-sq.-ft. deck overlooking the valley. Guests regularly choose to cook in rather than eat out, and once you see the deck at sunset, you'll understand why.
Night: Head down to the fire pit in the meadow. Bring a drink, build a fire, and look up — guests have compared the stargazing here to a planetarium. When you're ready to turn in, the wood stove will have the cabin warm and cozy.
Sleep: Two king beds, a queen Murphy bed, and a queen sleeper sofa across 1,850 square feet with three full bathrooms. The beds and high-thread-count linens are one of the most-mentioned things in our reviews — guests consistently say they're the most comfortable they've slept in at an Airbnb.
Your Private Montana Retreat
This is the only cabin on the property. No shared spaces, no neighbors in sight. You get the entire 15 acres — the cabin, the deck, the fire pit meadow, and the forest beyond. It feels like your own private corner of Montana, because it is.
The cabin is fully furnished with thoughtful touches throughout — a library of local maps and guidebooks, board games, a smart TV with streaming access, and a washer and dryer. Air conditioning keeps things cool in summer. The wood stove and mini-split heating make winter stays just as comfortable, with snowshoeing and tobogganing right in the yard and deer wandering through daily.
Whether you're here to explore or here to do absolutely nothing, the cabin works for both. Many guests tell us they came for Glacier and Whitefish but ended up spending most of their time right here on the property.
Amenities
- Coffee Station: Three ways to brew — Keurig for quick cups (starter K-Cups provided), Chemex pour-over with a grinder (pick up whole beans from Montana Coffee Roasters in Whitefish), and a Mr. Coffee drip maker for a full pot while you watch the sunrise. - Full Kitchen: Gas stove, oven, microwave, full knife set, pots, pans, serving utensils, dishes, and glasses. Guests have cooked everything from weeknight dinners to full Thanksgiving feasts here. No dishwasher, but dish soap, towels, and a drying rack are provided. - Outdoor Grill: Propane grill on the deck with a high-top table, chairs, and a solar-powered LED umbrella for evening dining. - Fire Pit: A large fire pit in the meadow — the perfect gathering spot for evenings under the stars. Use deadfall from the surrounding forest. - Entertainment: Smart TV (bring your own streaming logins), Wi-Fi, board games, and a library of local maps and books. - Comforts: Washer and dryer, firewood for the wood stove, plenty of towels, bear spray by the front door, and air conditioning in every room.
Pet-Friendly — Dogs Love It Here
We welcome dogs at no extra charge — just let us know they're coming. With 15 acres of open land and forest bordering the National Forest, your dog will have room to roam, run, and play fetch to their heart's content. Guests consistently tell us their dogs were "in heaven" here.
For the comfort of future guests, please don't leave dogs unattended unless crated or confined to a single space. We can't accommodate cats (severe allergies). Exotic pets? Reach out — we're happy to discuss.
