We stayed here based on a Travelzoo deal. Really easy to get to and it's a short drive to Hampton Court Palace. The hotel has lovely gardens to walk around in too. The hotel is undergoing refurbishment and it was a bit of a maze to get to our room (no lifts that we could see, so pack lightly). Staff were mostly friendly, though the dinner service was average. Drinks are a little expensive at the bar. We might try it one more time, but will wait for renovations to finish.

I stay at Oaklands 4/5 times a year on business always happy with the hotel . Will certainly stop again in the future. Thank you. I prefer the rooms downstairs near the Resterant as they are more spacious.

First of all, this is just a beautiful old hotel with nice grounds. There's a river running past it. And there's a few trails you can walk around to see the grounds. You can also walk into a nearby town. My room was huge. Nice big bed. Desk was sufficient. Had a tub and shower combo. It always annoys me when hotels do not have wash cloths (face cloths). This one did not. I'm a Southern American girl who needs plenty of cool air to sleep. I turned the Air Conditioning as low as it would go and also on high speed fan but it did not cool the room. I ended up opening the windows at night so it would be cooler. That was okay but it did allow some flying bugs to come in. There was a high dryer in the room that only blew cold air. I asked for a better one and had a new one in my room the same night. Breakfast was included in my room rate and the dining room is large and overlooks the back yard. They served a traditional English breakfast which was okay. They had fruits and juices and lots of breads. It was lively in the hotel. Seemed to have something going every night in the dining room.

Having been to the Oatlands park on several occasions I recommended that my friend and I had tea here on Saturday. We were disappointed that we were not seated in the main restaurant but instead were in a dark and hot side room, which felt dated and stuffy, the windows were privacy glass and closed, we didn't even have any view at all -(it later transpired the air con had been turned off, when it was 26 oc outside, madness!) When we asked if we could be moved, we were told no since there was a wedding on, however, at this time the guests were all seated for food in the main restaurant so I don't see why we could not have been moved outside. When we asked again, we were told we could go outside afterwards and then we were told this was not possible (at this time my friends baby was really feeling the heat and getting grumpy which made it stressful and not enjoyable for her mum). It seems communication is an issue for the restaurant team. The manager of the restaurant was fairly condescending in his manner and gave the impression that he thought he was above us. When I explained the sandwiches were dry and below par I was told "Madam we have been doing this a long time" if this is the case, I suggest they try something new because the sandwiches were tasteless and dry and only 4 fingers each, the macaroons were clearly ordered in, hardly what you expect for £30 a head. During our tea, you could notice the tension between the staff and one point an argument was taking place between them in the room, hardly what you expect from any professional establishment let alone one that I am told prides its self on excellent service. Perhaps it would be an idea to not offer afternoon tea when a wedding is one as it is quite clear service levels and customer experience drop dramatically.

Our wonderful day was turned in to a nightmare. We arrived around 630 to a room that was nothing like advertised, we were moved to a room upstairs again nothing like advertised, but better than the first or so we thought. We had no robes, menus or HOT WATER, so the bathroom upgrade was useless. We were offered another room the other end of the hotel only just to wash in! Trying to shrug this off we walked in the gardens only to find skips everywhere due to massive renovations. Still trying to salvage something good we went to the bar and ordered champagne, £120 champagne that whilst we waited we had to endure staff running in and out swearing at each other at the top of their voices. The large party directly under our room went on until 12am, and then they had the nerve to call our room in the morning and ask when we were checking out. My beautiful wife was reduced to tears at the point where they told us to read the fine print about the renovations and only gave us 20% of a £250 room and two dry burgers we had to fight for the night before from the restaurant. Absolutely ruined our wedding night. Never stay here.

I arrived back at the hotel after a long day’s work. I wanted a reasonable dinner ,but nothing elaborate , and in a relaxed setting . I couldn’t find the room service menu in my bedroom and , as I didn’t really want to eat in the bedroom, I didn’t call reception for one . So instead I went to the reception to ask for my dinner options. In simple terms it was two : an elaborate dinner in a far , far too formal dining room which only had one table occupied or the alternative was snacks such as sandwiches from the bar menu. I was appalled that there was no option in-between. So I ended up having to have food from the room service menu at its inflated charges . If this hotel thinks it caters for the needs of businessmen or women it is very sadly mistaken.

This was our second visit using a travelzoo deal! This time we had a beautiful reburbished room overlooking the lake. The room was huge. The staff were friendly and polite. The food was excellent at both dinner and breakfast. Cannot fault this hotel! Top class.

We recently got married at The hotel on 15th June. Ella who was our wedding co ordinator made a lot of huge mistakes on our special day and did not listen to our needs & requests. They are listed below: Entrance music for myself was wrong, I specifically listed this many times to Ella and as I walking down the aisle the music was wrong for myself nd my bridesmaids. This is basic that the bride should walk into here’s come the bride song but they still managed to Mrs this up. The whole co ordination on the morning of our wedding was a disaster. No one at reception had a clue what was going on. We had the florist, videographer and the photographer given wrong information. I paid for the bridal suite the night before my wedding but it was chaos in the morning due to the lack of Organization from Ella and the operation team. No one had a clue what was going on and I had phone ring constantly all morning whilst I was trying to get ready. Room for my groom parents who his mum is partially disabled we specifically asked for a ground floor room wasn’t given one and their room was tiny. The food was not right, we specifically had given instructions following from our menu tasting how we wanted the dishes to be. The dessert was awful we ordered sticky toffee pudding which had been left under hot lights so was dry and crusty it was inedible. Also I’m a professional chef so this was highly embarrassing when half my guests could not eat the dessert. It just like no one seemed to care about all the issues we had. This is just a few issues but there were many many more. I sent Ella hundreds of emails back and forth and every time I got the response all noted, no problem etc. But when it came to the big day none of all the details and information that I had spent months finalising and confirming with her was even passed across to the events team running the operations that day. It seems this hotel or the sales team like to say to their guests yes just to tick the box but then never follow through. Considering both myself & my husband work in the hospitality sector you would think this hotel would take extra care to ensure everything was perfect for our special day. I did not even get a follow up email from the wedding / sales event team to ask how everything went. I honestly felt so dissappointed from the service we received on our wedding day and all the errors we encountered. It seems this hotel just cares about how many weddings they can sell in a year rather then the personalised service you expect when you book your wedding here.

the room was suitable for location for our final destination, the staff were great but the room itself was not worth the money , I feel your paying more for the main entrance than anything else. the was a wedding going on at the venue which meant drunk people making noise around 2 30 am.

A beautiful hotel, set in lovely grounds. Our room was very large, with a separate seating area and huge sash windows. The communal areas were all immaculate, and the reception area was huge and impressive. We had a bed breakfast and evening meal package, the staff were all friendly and helpful, and i enjoyed the food. My minor grumbles would be that we were over the function room, and it was quite noisy for a while, but it certainly didn't go on late. Also, there were five - yes FIVE short and curly hairs in the bath that certainly didn't belong to me! The bath obviously hadn't been cleaned after the previous, hairy occupant! The rest of the room was very clean, it was probably just an oversight - but not what you expect in a four star hotel. It wouldn't put me off staying again.
