I stayed here last night, and while everything else was acceptable, I couldn't believe I was asked for $5 for internet access. How stingy! Not impressed by this sort of cheapskate move at all. Won't be returning.
The place can definitely use some sprucing up. The wifi is antique and not free, the staff is willing if not terribly efficient. But there aren't many choices in Lower Hutt. The decor is boring. Rooms are spacious, beds are okay as are the amenities
Awesome place very helpful staff clean and tidy. Sunday night meal was awesome so much to choice from. Our room was very quite and parking wasn't a problem I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay close and easy to get the ferries.
Spent several nights here as part of the Lions' Tour of NZ and have been happy enough with what's on offer. The staff are very helpful and friendly, the food (breakfast buffet) is tasty enough and plentiful, and the rooms are comfortable enough, albeit a little tired. Internet is a bit dodgy at certain parts of the hotel, but it's good elsewhere. Yes, on balance, I'd stay here again.
Comfortable clean hotel.our room was spacious but had no drawer space or room safe which was a major draw back and would stop me staying here again. Breakfast was standard buffet. They charge $5 a day for wifi. All in all a basic but comfortable hotel.
Stayed 1 night for business. Very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are spacious with older decor. There's a mall and restaurants and a supermarket across the road. I would recommend this if working nearby.
I came down to Wellington to work for 10 days ant the company put me up at The Angus. Very happy they chose this hotel. Great rooms with lots of space. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is ok too. Generic menus, but well done. If you want to eat elsewhere Pitone has an amazing array of restaurants and bars.
Poor woman @ reception had a number of people trying to book in all at once. She handled the pressure well after a few 'hiccups'. Husband & I were 'upgraded' to a room with a walk in shower, however after the plumbing failed us, it felt like we were 'downgraded' as we had to be relocated to another room. All in all, Staff handled it well as it was a very busy long weekend (QB) & a plumber couldn't be sourced. Restaurant offered breakfast & Dinner at reasonable cost. Variety was good. Very handy to Queensgate Mall. Rooms were basic but comfortable (no cooking facilities). A hot drink, hot shower, bed & TV was all that was required. NB: Wifi had to be purchased. Would be more than happy to stay again!
Stayed for two nights and had everything you needed on a premises. Food from the restaurant was nicely presented and very tasty. Both bar areas spacious and nice the smaller bar had a gaming room with some pokies and was cheaper then the main hotel bar. Staff friendly and nothing was to much trouble. Close to everything in Lower Hutt, would recommend.
Stayed for business. Loved the room, which was large, really well furnished and had those little things that make a difference, for instance, plunger coffee, a sink in the room that you could fill the kettle from (so annoying when a kettle is provided, but you can't fit it under the tap!). A wee packet of tissues in the bathroom, a bottle opener, well upholstered chairs etc. The bathroom was clean and there was a bath, it was clearly not recently refurbished, but it was perfectly serviceable and everything I needed was there. The room was spotlessly clean including the bedcover. There was a heat pump for heating and electric blankets. The staff were happy, pleasant and helpful. I loved this hotel, and would very happily stay again!
