A goods nights rest at a very reasonable price. We found our room clean and well maintained. Breakfast was so, so. No coffee in the morning, I had to ask check in. He ran down the cook and within a few minutes we had coffee. Thanks!
This is a large hotel. All of the rooms are accessed from the interior. Many of the rooms are arranged around the pool. However, you might want to avoid one of those rooms if you don't like the smell of chlorine. The gentleman who checked me in was very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable. However, the common areas could have used some picking up and most of the trash receptacles were over full. Breakfast and the breakfast room were very good. Overall, I thought it was a good value.
I came here for a 1 night business trip using a Friends and Family code. First, I've used these codes several times and I've received much nicer places for $35 a night. I was shocked to pay $49 for a night at this place because it was subpar to other Choice Hotels I've stayed at. Check in was nice and friendly. My room was all the way in the back right along the highway. Understandably, it will be noisy, but if you're a light sleeper, ask for a room not in the 150's or 250's. The hallway in that area was not well ventilated and smelled very stale and musty. When I opened my door, I immediately smelled old, stale air. Yuck. All of the carpet and furniture is old and outdated. The room was very large and the bed was comfortable. Rooms also contain a microwave and fridge. The tv was a large flat screen with cable channels. Breakfast was ok. Standard scrambled eggs and sausage links for hot items with make your own waffle station. Yogurt, muffins, toast, instant oatmeal, and fruit. Continental breakfast. Overall, I think this hotel needs a major makeover. It's very outdated. I don't think I would ever stay here again.
Wanted to spend a night between the UP Michigan and MSP airport - Wausau is about half way. TA had some good prices, and we like that the Quality Inn had a bar and restaurant on site. Had a great sleep, and a nice dinner - get the grilled Walleye, a nice dinner plate. Pool and hot tub were clean and nice - not crowded at all. This will be our stop in the future when traveling this area. Fwiw - the drive north thru Eagle River north to the UP is beautiful.
This is one of our two Wausau, WI options (the other being Country Inn). A mid-July 2017 trip was our third stay. Staff were friendly and responsive. The property is an old Holiday Inn "Holidome" motel. Pluses are a normal-sized pool, whirlpool and big area for kids and adults/families to hang. Downsides are the echo chamber of that courtyard if you'd prefer quiet. (Area is open until 11 pm) It is a bit maze-like-- but good because there's room to a wing away from the poolside rooms. Typical mid-level free-breakfast options-- waffle-maker, cereals, breads, yogurts, and 1-2 warm options (e.g. eggs, cubed potatoes, commercial biscuits-gravy, etc.) Oranges and apples for fresh fruit. There is a bar of the old Hoffman House restaurant. Rooms were recently remodeled, but halls and some room aspects still old-- no bathroom fan in our room. And we had a toilet clog after a normal use, but were able to get a plunger and an apology from the evening-desk staff (who said it's not uncommon). Attaboys for blinds and curtains that completely closed, and walls/windows that sealed highway noise (our room faced the main freeway) Decent price, and we like the location.
We stayed here this past weekend for my cousin-in-law's wedding, as this was the hotel they reserved a block of rooms for. At the rate of almost $100 per night after taxes, this wasn't worth $20. Here are the list of issues we had: * There were at least 4 long dark hairs in the bathtub * There were toothpaste spots on the bathroom mirror and streaks on the entire outside of the mirror where it looked like they wiped it but didn't actually clean it * I sat on the bed and looked over at the headboard and it was so dusty that I could write in it * There is about an inch of dust/dirt around the entire outside of the room where their vacuum couldn't reach. You can see where the brushes hit the edge, but there is literally a line between the clean and dirty * I made the mistake of opening up the curtains because I could see the dust like crazy under the dresser. It hasn't been touched in forever, I'm sure. * The furniture in the room was worn out and tatted and one of the chairs has a gross stain * The air conditioner is old and leaks water onto the carpet in front it. On top of that, the vents where the air comes out of the air conditioner is incredibly dusty and gross - and that's the air we are breathing in. * If you look under the heating vent along the floor against the window, there is dirt and gross stuff under it. * There were cobwebs on the bathroom ceiling. * The hair dryer has dust on the vent part of it * Finally, we couldn't get over the TERRIBLE SMELL of the room. And I wasn't the only one who felt that way...our family gathered around the pool tables for coffee in the morning and people were saying they wish they would've brought a candle or air fresheners to make it at least bearable. It smelled so terrible. Stay ANYWHERE else. This place was trash for a name like "Quality Inn".
Have been to this hotel many times before. Seems to have gone downhill. Attempt to update have been made, but it was done with sloppy workmanship. Tile in the pool area has been replaced but the stuff is extremely slippery and the joints are way out of alignment, creating a trip Hazzard. To top it all off, my wife is temporaryally handicapped and we wanted to use the hot tub. They have a handicap lift for the pool and hot tub but it didn't work. I asked at the front desk and the girl was trying to help. She said it was only her second night on The Job and called a maintenance man who said he never seen the thing work. Finally after my wife gave up hope and went back to the room, someone showed up with the battery which of course was dead. It was a very disappointed stay.
We stayed here while a relative was in the hospital. We got a king room and the first room was so dusty dirty. Upon the inspection of the bathroom there was molf all around the tub/ shower and in the grout. We asked to be moved to another room where we found the same thing. Only the mold wasn't as bad, but bad enough that when shown to the manager, she said it was unacceptable and refunded our money . My husband went to eat the free breakfast. When he scooped up the scrambled eggs onto his plate they were green and black on the bottom. He then walked out to the front desk and handed the plate to the check in person saying, "here have some breakfast!" The response was "Ewwwwe!" My husband went back to the dining room to get a cup of coffee and he Sees the cook come out thinking the cook was going to remove the scrambled eggs. Instead the cook stirred them up good!!!! When the manager was informed of this, she explained that the food was provided by an outside company. We will not be back! I don't like to write reviews like this, but stay here at your own risk!!
When I first checked in, I was given a room in the very back far wing of the property, and when I sat down to do some work on the computer, there was no wifi signal. This was a business trip, so not having Internet was completely unacceptable. I returned to the front desk, and asked to be moved to a room closer to the router / antenna. The staff complied, and put me in one of the rooms overlooking the pool, and what do you know, the wifi signal worked. There is a very large pool / hot tub / recreation area in the center of the hotel, with numerous rooms overlooking it. It was very clean and neat, and seems like it would be a great amenity for kids and family. The location is fantastic too, just up the road from the Granite Peak ski area, so if I were in town to hit the slopes, this is definitely where I'd stay. The rooms could use a little updating, but they were spacious, clean, and comfortable.
I booked through expedia and the dates of the reservation were messed up. Expedia booked our reservation for the wrong date. The manager kindly honored the money we had paid a month a go for the wrong day. She did not have to do that and we really appreciated not having to deal with expedia to get our money back. I have been staying at this motel since my grandma brought me in the 70's. Always have had great customer service. If they installed queen beds instead of the doubles it would be perfect What we appreciate about this motel is the room to meet as a group. Most new motels do not have the room and family atmosphere that they do here. Hats off for keeping such a nice place for our group to meet at
