The photos of rooms are deceptive at best. The actual condition of the hotel is poor to very poor. The bathroom had mold, and the tub did not drain. The towels were scratchy. The room felt "sticky" and dirty nearly everywhere. The beds were covered in plastic making for a sweaty night. There were cigarette burns on the blankets and couch. The tv was an old tube style and did not project well. The room smelled of cigarettes even though it was non-smoking. The hotel is located in a very bad part of DC (even by DC standards) and is uncomfortable at best. Bottom line spend the extra $10-20 and stay somewhere nicer.
The room smelled. It was non-smoke, but it kinda smelled. The price was good though
There were some crazy people yelling late at night, but they eventually stopped. A little security would have been nice.
It is across from a big concert venue, so we stayed in a big group of people and walked to the venue. Very convenient
THIS HOTEL WAS IN A BAD AREA AND WAS NOT A GOOD PLACE TO STAY
This hotel makes it sound like it is situated in a really good area of DC but the truth is, it is actually in a really ghetto part. Though it is only ten minutes drive away from the center of historic DC, it is not worth it because it is in a dangerous area. This also seems to be the spot for prostitution. The breakfast was terrible too, it consisted of toast, bagel and butter, croissants and cereal. The staff was very friendly though. I definitely give them a thumbs up!
We visited all the museums and memorials with the knowledge that we could return to our hotel to gain energy to begin again on our tours. The only thing we needed was a closer ice machine. It was an enjoyable stay.
Ironing board but no iron. Unfriendly staff. The concessions area smelt of urine. The room itself was comfortable, even if the area was somewhat sketchy.
It was noisy; of the 6 nights I was there I only got two good nights of sleep. Otherwise, clean, comfortable and staff polite and helpful. Shuttle to downtown was a big plus.
We were definitely not expecting much based on the price. That being said, we were not disappointed. If you expect a 5 star room at a 1 star price, you're going to be upset. 1st of all, the shuttle to the subway station is the #1 reason you'll want to stay here. The staff made a special exception for us our first day since we had missed the last shuttle by about 3 hours. They made a special run for us. the staff here is about 10x friendlier than they probably should be so no worries there. There were some negatives though. The area is a little scary. Our air conditioner leaked every single night and made the carpet all wet on that side of the room. And with our room being far out on the end away from the lobby, we had almost zero wifi signal. So if internet is important to you, make sure you get a room closer to the main office. Other than that you'll find the rooms are clean and the staff is extra friendly.
Hotel was great, especially with the convenience of shuttle service. The only disappointment was not having the complimentary breakfast in a.m. This is a priority for our family, so although we were satisfied with the hotel, we most likely would choose a hotel with breakfast for convenience.
This hotel was more than I expected. the hotel room was big, spotless clean and very well taken care of. The hotel is a little bit far from the center, but there is a shuttle from the hotel to Union St. (with a very nice and friendly driver). There's places to eat nearby and a beautiful park just in front.
Rooms were clean. Staff were courteous, informative and friendly. Location was a bit distant, but very quiet and restive..
Upon arrival we had a lengthy wait to check in because the clerk was on the phone. I am not sure if it was important conversation because he was not speaking in English. Once we had our room key we made our way to the room only to find out it was not what we requested, back to the front desk through the pouring rain. This happened three times! Nothing was dramatically wrong with the rooms but I do enjoy having the type of room I request when making reservations with clean towels, curtains that close and tvs that work. The hotel was not very expensive but they struggled with hotel basics 101.
I had to move rooms due to sketchy people in next room.
It was cool
Lobby is boring and awful. Noisy st right off a highway. Door to room was stuck and then would swing open with force. I guess price was decent. Unusual check in and out operation. No signing or paperwork at all. Slept well on beds though.
The staff was helpful and courteous. The shuttle service was invaluable.
Alarm clock in room didn't work. Received no wake-up call. Almost missed my flight out of Reagan. [...]
the Days Inn at the Gateway was a very nice hotel for the price. The room was very clean and the bed are very comfortable. very good van service to and from Union station. Most of the staff were very friendly but lack knowledge regarding land mark in washington. I would stay again One plus to the hotel free parking
