I don’t often feel the need to review hotels on TA. I do so whenever I feel a particular hotel is performing exceptionally well or exceptionally poor. In this case I however found our 4 days stay at the Budget Host a awful experience. Firstly I need to point out that I booked this motel for the sole reason that it had parking. It also had a slightly higher price tag than the Days Inn just down the road. Unfortunately I noticed it had a better rating on TA so decided to go with Budget host instead. I do need to point out that there were hotels inside of Washington that were considerably cheaper than the Budget Host so this Motel is by no means affordable as many claim. So we arrived and found the friendliest man in reception. In fact all the staff at this motel was extremely helpful. Unfortunately this could not dwarf the terrible experience that would lay ahead of us in the coming 4 days. This motel is ancient to say the least. I expect its inevitable demolishment in the near future. That is if it does not burn down before then. We were awoken one morning around 3:00 by fire engines arriving to put out a electrical fire caused by old cabling. Is the place clean? For my own sanity I would rather say yes. We found a clean bathroom on arrival however I do have my suspicions about the woolly blankets on the beds. I cant see them washing these after every visit. I strongly suspect that only the sheets are changed between customers. We had two double beds in the room. One was half ok but not comfortable by any means. The other mattress could have just as well have been collected from the sidewalk in the Bronx for all I know. Its structure had clearly collapsed meaning that you would inevitably roll to the middle of the mattress. If there are two of you this resulted in both persons ending up on-top of one another. If this was not terrible enough the mattress felt as if it was stuffed with pieces of torn foam. Our 4 and 6 year olds ended up getting this bed. The pillows was also awful but then again Im difficult when it comes to pillows. The curtains were completely incapable of blocking out the lights from outside. This included the streetlights as well as sunlight in the mornings. We were also constantly awoken by the passing traffic which was only a few yards away. The door itself had a gap at the bottom that caused a draft when closed as well as contributes to the added road noise. Breakfast is really nothing to look forward too. There is literally a tray of 14 walmart mini donuts, 6 bagels and a bowl with either apples or bananas in reception for you to “feast” on. The coffee was good though. My wife stopped going after day two. I however was in two minds wether I should write this review because the staff we met was excellent. Helpful and extremely friendly. I however do feel that there is just so much wrong with this establishment that I simply cant keep quiet. I do think you are better off using the Days inn literally a block away if you are planning on booking with this demolition in waiting. In general I often overlook many a fault at a hotel as I only see it as a place to sleep while on holiday travels. In this case we ended up leaving extremely tired due to the lack of quality sleep after staying here for 4 days. It made us loose a further day of our holiday at another hotel because we ended up sleeping during the day in an attempt to catch up on lost sleep. I would sadly not recommend this motel to anyone.

I have been staying once or twice a year at Travelers Motel for perhaps twenty years. As other reviewers have said, it is clean and well kept. This time I stayed in a room with classic furniture in a dark mahogany color, If they applied a little Old English scratch cover, the furniture would look brand new. The shower pressure was good and the water temperature was good and reliable, so bathing was a pleasure. The staff are very friendly, and it is clear that this motel was started as a family business, even if it is now part of a chain. The rooms are very comfortable and homelike. I always feel like I'm coming home when I stay at Travelers Motel; thanks especially to manager Paul and staff members Alan and Jeanie!

We stayed here two nights and I am very happy with my stay. We checked in around 11 pm and it was no problem. The room was very clean. The bed was comfortable and the location looked very safe. I loved the shower pressure in the bathroom! It felt great after a long day of walking in the D.C. heat. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I liked that you could hop the shuttle in the morning to the closest Metro station and head right into D.C. in about 20-30 minutes. My only complaint is that I didn't care for the non-fitted sheet on the bed. The first night, the sheet over the mattress was basically laying over it...not even tucked in. At one point during the night I could of easily reached up and touched the mattress. That is just kind of gross. Also, if you toss and turn a lot like me, the sheets get moved all around. I was worried I'd wake up and actually be laying on the mattress...luckily, that was not the case. A fitted sheet would be much better. I'm seeing that a lot in hotel rooms now so I don't know if that is the new thing. All in all, I'd definitely stay here again. We paid less for two nights than what we would have paid for one night in D.C. Well worth the money.

We stayed here just one night while on our way home. We didn't want to pay the very high prices in DC. We were very pleased. It wasn't fancy, but was very clean and functional. The staff was very friendly and the bed extremely comfortable. A simple continental breakfast was available too. I believe it was less than a mile from a Metro stop, so it would be easy to take a taxi/Uber there and then get to the city. This hotel was a pleasant surprise!

We were traveling through on our road trip home, and based on other reviews we decided to stay here for the night. This motel was clean (though the furnishings were outdated) and fairly quiet. It was an affordable price. The room was clean and spacious. It had a mini fridge and microwave which was nice to have. My only negative about the room is that the bathroom door didn't fit correctly in its frame. There were a few inches between the door and frame so the door couldn't click into place and you could see into the next room at a certain angle (and vice versa if you really wanted to look in). I was told they provide a shuttle to the D.C. Metro but I'm not 100% certain since we didn't need to use it. We would definitely stay here again on our way through. We might even consider staying here if we were visiting DC.

Well, The Budget Host is a nice hotel in a good location. They also have a good daily rate. It is close to DC via the DC Metro only a little over half a mile away. The bed was fine. they have a fridge and a microwave. It is a nice average hotel. They also have a parking lot which a lot of DC hotels do not have. All the rooms are ground floor rooms.

I recently stayed at the Budget Host Travelers Motel for two nights. The room was nice and clean upon arrival. The AC was nice and cool, which was great after walking the National Mall for two days in hot humid weather. Bed was very comfortable and shower had good water pressure. Seems to be in a relatively quiet and safe area. There was some traffic noise being right off of Route 1 but not too bad. Staff was warm and friendly. I'd stay here again if in the area!

We found this gem online and it is conveniently across the street from my nieces apartment. Reviews online were all good, the price was right and we literally only needed a bed and a shower. Rest of my family opted to stay at the Holiday Inn Express down the road for $30-40 more per night and I think they may have over looked a great little spot that is a throwback to those places you'd stop at with your parents on a road trip back in the day. And it's IMMACULATE. Like not a spot in the place. Granted it is outdated but it really doesn't matter. Had a flat screen tv and a good shower. Only downside were the pillows - needed a few more and it was too late to ask. And the towels are tiny. Otherwise the place is perfect for a quick visit.

We stayed here for three nights as we wanted to visit Washington/ Smithsonian museums. The staff were very helpful, Dan drove us to the Metro each day and gave us many helpful tips about using the Metro, and things to see. It was a 15 minute walk from the Metro back to the hotel. It is not fancy, but clean and offered all we needed. We were given an actual key to the room, and a continental breakfast was offered at the office each morning. We would definitely stay here again, thank you to the staff for an enjoyable stay.

This is a great place to stay when visiting the DC area. The motel is older but it is family run and has a very nice staff. Because it is older the price is cheaper than all the hotels in the area. Location: this is just off of the 1 in Fairfax county, so it is several miles outside of DC, but it is only about a 15 minute walk to the Huntingdon metro station which is the best way to get into the city. They also provide a shuttle service to the metro at half hour intervals in the morning. Once on the metro (yellow line) it is only about 15 minutes to the National Mall. It is also just a short drive from Old Town Alexandria which is great for shopping and dining. Safety: This area felt pretty safe to us. Cleanliness: The room was fairly clean when we arrived, and was cleaned nicely every day. Breakfast: They have a small breakfast each morning, usually bagels and donuts. There is no place in the lobby to eat, so we had to go back to our room. Amenities: there aren't very many amenities except microwaves, minifridges, and wifi. They told us some people had trouble with the internet, but it worked for us.
