My family and I were visiting Wainwright, Alberta for my sons graduation from infantry training for the Military and we were treated very well. We were all extremely happy with our stay at this hotel and would recommend it to anyone.
We booked a king room with a pullout couch for two nights. It was enormous! We were on the fourth floor. More than enough space for luggage and a playpen as well for kid #2. Mini fridge and microwave. Air conditioning. The bathroom could have been bigger, but was fine. We had no problems with our room or the front desk staff. The pool needed chemicals added Saturday morning, but we enjoyed it once it was ready. It has a ramp and sprayers and benches in the pool, a fast tunnel waterslide and hot tub. The breakfast was good, lots of variety, I liked the waffles with frozen berries on top and the cinnamon buns. My kids liked the yogurt parfaits and hard boiled eggs and juice. They should add more types of teas- only green tea and lemon. My moms room had an issue with the card reader, so she had to get it reset every time she left the room, that was inconvenient. The maintenance person couldn't fix it. Hopefully they compensated her. Overall, a good stay and would stay here again!
After a HORRIBLE experience with a competing Hotel in Wainwright - we were worried we would be left without accommodation on a very busy weekend. Thanks to amazing desk staff - we were hooked up with a beautiful suite. Thanks so much to Joanne and all the other great staff at this location.
Fine place to stay...comfortable, clean, spacious room, staff exceptionally pleasant, breakfast included with lots of choices, enjoyable hot tub.
Hotel is nice and clean, breakfasts are okay but Holiday Inn Express are better, our room had 2 queen beds and a desk but no sitting area to sit and eat at or socialize. Huge waste of floor space empty could've used a small table as we've seen in other hotels. Internet was pathetic at best! I've never had such poor internet at any hotel before this. It needs a lot of work for sure! The staff were very nice and courteous.
We were on a little driving tour of east central Alberta and chose to stay in Wainwright because it was the only large center on our route. We chose to stay in the Ramada Wainwright because we have stayed in Ramada hotels in other locations and were quite satisfied with them. The hotel is fairly new and located just off the highway (Alberta 14) on the east end of town. There is one other newish hotel nearby, a Best Western, which I expect is comparable. We were assigned a room on the first floor which had high ceilings and was decently appointed. One thing to be aware of is that there was no outlet to charge your cell phone or portable device without using a 120 volt adapter. Not what I would expect from Ramada in 2017. So if you are used to taking your charging cord from the car you had better remember to have the 120 volt adapter with you. I didn't have one with me as we were used to staying in hotels that provided appropriate outlets. Our room was also expensive (almost $150) compared to what we pay for similar Ramada accommodation in cities like Edmonton and Calgary. The Ramada Wainwright seems to be partly at least a 'work crew hotel'. All the rooms on the first floor had doors which opened on to the parking lot so patrons could back their pickups right up to the door of their room. A bit of a retro feature reminiscent of the old 60s and 70s highway motels. Not a feature that attracted us but clearly important to some patrons. When we were there there was at least one work crew staying at the hotel as well. The hotel is four stories, frame construction, so now as sound proof as larger concrete structures. We experienced some noise in the morning even though we were at the end of the hallway and I had hoped a quiet location. A decent 'hot continental breakfast' was included. There are several fast food restaurants in the neighborhood including an A&W restaurant right beside the hotel and a McDonalds just down the street.
We came one day (and left the next) to attend the RCMP Musical ride and at the same time meet family living in the area. The continental breakfast had healthy items and had a good variety of choices. No complaints. Very good experience.
An enjoyable stay and the staff were very accommodating to meet the needs of those of us who were working shift work.
Nice clean, comfortable rooms and extremely friendly staff. If you are spending time in Wainwright this is a great place to stay close to all restaurants and very easy to find. The complimentary breakfast changes regularly.
We stayed 2 nights while in town for a ball tournament. Check in was quick. Desk staff was very friendly and welcoming. There is a convenience area with toiletries and snacks/drinks for purchase. The pool and hot tub area was very clean. Very happy with our room as it was spacious and extra clean. Beds were comfortable. Air conditioner was adequate. The ice machine on the 3rd floor was capable of filling our cooler. Breakfast was very good. Coffee was hot and fresh. Convenient to have an A&W right next door as well. Tim Hortons is also nearby. Overall very happy with our stay and would recommend.
