Clean, large rooms. Super friendly owners and personnel. Beach, forest and centre of De Koog within walking distance. What more can you ask for? Well, nothing really, but that's where Kogerstaete really distinguishes itself from other hotels. Because on top of all you can ask for, came: A bowl with snacks for the dogs in the room upon arrival. But not just that, it was put on the table out of reach of the dogs, leaving it up to the guest to decide whether or not the dogs could have it! Personal service for my vegan daughter (whatever she needed for breakfast, they would go and get it). A piece of apple-pie for breakfast on my birthday (my wife asked if they could arrange for something and they did). And knowing my daughter is vegan, they didn't serve apple-pie for her but a glas of fresh fruit (mind you, not the fruit from the breakfast buffet but fruit especially arranged for my daughter). And last but not least, when we arrived back in the room on my birthday, there was a lovely Happy Birthday banner and a funny hat singing "Happy Birthday to you" as well as a birthday gift! Believe me, this hotel is all you can ask for. And a lot more.
Very nice hotel. The room are quite big and well equipped with a nice balcony. The staff is very welcoming and friendly and the breakfast is very good. Perfect place to relax and visit the island. It is very close to the center of the town but still very quiet
The disadvantage: The additional cost for our 3 years old daughter: 35eur/day (excluding bed sheets and pillow) - which we never had in any other hotels we stayed (bed put in our room with bed sheets, pillow and towels for free as well). The advantages: Amazing place where we (my husband, our daughter and I) enjoyed staying for our 7th anniversary! The decoration has been made with taste. We had a very warm welcome, a bed was already put in our room. The owner explained us the functionalities of each equipment in the room (sauna, jacuzzi, UV shower). She also put a toy for our daughter in our room and she really loved it... Last but not least: the breakfast! It is a great one, various: sweet with croissants, marmelades, cereals, granola, yoghurt etc. and salty with salad, cheese, several kinds of eggs, FRESHLY baked breads, every kinds of cheeses (I am French so it was my favorite part!) etc. and of course, several kinds of coffees available too (capuccino, latte macchiato, expresso etc.).. anything you wish to start a nice day! P.S: the last day, the owner made Poffertjes (dutch speciality: kind of mini-pancakes with butter and powder sugar on top) for our 3 years old daughter, she enjoyed them a lot. Thank you again!
My family and I stayed in the apartment and were extremely impressed with the space, beds, bathroom, balcony and cleanliness. 3 minute walk to bike hire, restaurants and shops. Fast wifi and good tv. Family run establishment. Very helpful and friendly. A Highly recommended stay for your trip to Texel.
We stayed at Hotel Kogerstaete for three nights last weekend, and loved it! Dirk and Jeanet were very welcoming and friendly, and gave us plenty of info and maps for what to see around Texel. The room was spacious and clean, with balcony and coffee. Breakfast was generous and delicious, and included freshly baked bread. We'd definitely stay here again.
Me and my friend had the pleasure to visit Texel for a couple of days, where we stayed at Hotel Kogerstaete at the Koog. The hotel is perfectly situated near the shops, the beach and the bus station. Upon arrival we received a warm welcome from the owners. We had booked a suite which was very comfortable and nicely furnished. In the morning a generous and varied breakfast was served with self-made bread. The owners took time to tell us about the places of interest on the island and gave us a map and several brochures. Later we heard that Hotel Kogerstaete was the Gold winner of the Zooveraward. We were very happy with the excellent hospitality and service, and we would definitely recommend this hotel.
The experience I had here was amazing. The rooms are of the highest quality and some of the features caught me by surprise! An infrared sauna in my bathroom and a whirlpool bath! Now thats the height of luxury! Bed was comfortable and everything was spotless and clean, a lot of hotels I have previously stayed in have been dusty and had signs of aging in the rooms, but Kogerstaete was fresh and the rooms were light and modern. Jeanet, the Hotel manager was an excellent host and offer us advance on what to check out on our time on Texel and also Noord Holland. She made us feel welcome on the trip and always had time to help us with any questions and to have a friendly chat. My girlfriend and I would highly recommend Hotel Kogerstaete to any fellow travellers looking to explore the beauty of Texel and the surrounding islands.
The place is nice and the food is good, and very conveniently located near the center of town. THE HIGHLIGHT of the stay was a housekeeping staff member: Bo (as in Bo Derek)!!! She was fantastic, super helpful, friendly, and service oriented. She is the strongest argument in favor of this business. She really was outstanding. The CLEAR DOWNSIDE to the place is the owner. Given the low season, the hotel was empty, with (literally) only two rooms occupied. As a result of the very nasty weather, I changed plans and wanted to return to Amsterdam, where we live. When explaining this to the owner, however, he became vociferously agitated and started raising his voice in a very aggressive manner saying that he had blocked the room for them and now he couldn't sell it- as though he had people lined up demanding lodging. When, given the weather as mentioned, there were only two rooms occupied. In the end, they still managed to have a great time in the bowling alley and making bread and soap at a little workshop in the island. The owner's frustration is understandable if he saw one of his two customers leave and cut his already meager revenue cut in half. What is not justifiable is the need to act aggressively towards me, seeing me tied by- and in front of- my little girl. We ended up staying to avoid creating a scene in front of my already scared eight year old. He had no business raising his voice and acting threateningly. This is unacceptable and hardly reflective of the very hospitable Dutch people. Shame on him. In balance, I honestly CANNOT recommend this place based on the abusive attitude of the owner.
We were with our family in Hotel Kogerstaete Texel and we were surprised. what a lovely spacious hotel suitevery close to the village the Koog with lots of nice shops and cafes and also the beach very close. We have been beachcombers museum and admired the beautiful gown. Their was a little gift on our bed for the children.
