We booked 4 King Bed rooms to accommodate 4 families. When we reached there the hotel staff says we have to pay $25 for each kid and they did not leave to pay $400 extra for all the kids. There was no hot water coming on the shower. When we complained, hotel staff says this is not the star hotel. We had to take baths outside of the pool showers. Breakfast was ok. Overall we had worst experience at Great Escape B&B hotel. I would not recommend this to anyone. I did book the rooms and all my relatives who came along with me and stayed here have been scolding me for not booking a good hotel.
Great Escape is a beautiful place to go relax and disconnect from everything. This bed and breakfast is located on the top of a hill overlooking nature on all directions. The sound of the wind chimes, rustling of the tree branches against the wind and the ocean in the distance fill the atmosphere with serenity. We had the opportunity of getting to know the owner Dana who lives there. This place is but a reflection of who she is. On a previous review someone described her as being capable of mothering you without smothering, to which I can personally say that, that is a great description of the care she provides. Dana was always interested in our wellbeing, she was always making sure that everybody in the hotel was happy. I really like the honor system in the hotel. There is a full bar and well stocked fridge, whatever you take you write it down under your room number. The week we went all the cars in the island were completely rented out. Dana was kind enough to arrange transportation for us. I will definitely come back and stay here as well as recommend this place to everyone!
We booked this room last minute on our way to Puerto Rico as our other travel plans fell through. The site said this hotel was 40 miles from the city center of San Juan but did not mention that the hotel was on a separate island. Not having a lot of time to book I also take blame for not doing more research on the hotel but I book as our plane was taxing to the runway. When we landed at 11pm in Puerto Rico the man at the rental car facility advised us that the hotel was on a separate island and there was no way there that evening as you had to take a ferry to get there. This left us stranded and exhausted in the middle of the night without a room with a 14 month old baby. We tried repeatedly the next day to get a hold of the hotel to advise them we would not be there for the additional night we had booked. We called several times and left several messages. We received no call back. We left after two days of missed reservations for a cruise and were unavailable by phone. When we returned we (both my husband and I) tried getting a hold of them again. After several days the hotel manager Dana finally called me back. From the minute I answered the phone she was very defensive and would not let me even speak. She told me that the mix up was my fault for not doing my research and she would not do anything to work with me. We even asked for just a partial credit as we took some responsibility for the mix up. She advised it was not her fault that the site did not say the hotel was on a separate island. I have never talked to someone before that treated me so poorly from the get go. She didn't even want to hear a word of what I was calling to speak to her about. I would never recommend this hotel just from the way the staff treated my family. The customer services was the worst I have ever experienced.
Property is located in a tropical haven of floral, trees & an awesome pool. Dana is an incredible host & serves a great complimetary breakfast. Hard to find at first, but easy from Esperanza once you get there.. Would highly recommend!
