The Westin Bear Mountain Golf Resort & Spa, Victoria

We were here to celebrate mywifes convocation and I booked based on recommendation of a co-worker. Overall a great hotel with wonderful views and grounds. We didn't use any of the pool or hot tub or fitness centre as they are in a seperate building and with the wet weather and cold it was not a plausible option. Therein lies the only issue, we were here for 4 nights and therefore charged 4 resort fees plus taxed on that. No problem with fees if you use the facilities but there should be an option or credit for those who don't. Its easy to verify with the room card system. Dtill all in all a nice stay and staff are fantastic.

My wife and I went to the Sante Fe Spa at the Westin Bear Mountain resort (just outside of Victoria, BC) for our anniversary. The facility was very clean, warm and welcoming. You can relax in a robe in the lounge area sipping herbal tea enjoying a fireplace and the view of the mountains. The massage therapists are very good with a relaxing ambiance in the room with your choice of scent to relax. You can also use the outdoor warm saltwater pool and enjoy a relaxing view of the mountains. Back inside there are also wet and dry salnas and private showers to freshen up. I recommend the spa for the travelling guest staying at the hotel or for locals wanting a local nice getaway.

The Westin Bear Mountain resort is a 20 min. drive from Victoria. It's beautiful up there with a full length golf course. Weather was a bit cold at the time so I didn't play. The hotel itself is great and the staff is courteous. Food was very good in the restaurant. Definitely a place to visit in the spring and summer.

The resort is first class. I have never had a bad experience. The Spa is by far away the best one on the Island of Vancouver by a country mile and beyond. The service, the attention to detail, the estheticians, their advanced skill set and product knowledge. First rate. Most importantly the latest technology and how to use and explain thoroughly, thoughtfully and carefully every step of the way. The Spa rooms and overall facility, top notch

This resort is an oasis and a great spot to escape the city. Fabulous service from the bell staff (Nick, Kaelin, Mark), front desk (Shayne, Kristina, Sara, Sarah, Judith, Alexandra, Amadea) and food and beverage (Deepak, Dana and Scott) sorry if I missed anyone My room was spacious and absolutely spotless clean; Karen the Housekeeper was very friendly and attentive.

I found my room to be spacious and comfortable with a nice view of the golf course and Mt. Baker. Should you feel like waking early don't pull the blackout curtains and enjoy watching the sky turn brilliant orange as the sun rises over the mountains to the east. Upon arrival I was surprised to find what seemed to be a bustling community up Bear Mountain, interestingly this activity did not impose on the setting and the room was nevertheless quiet and peaceful. I wish I had not booked so many other activities on my trip as I did not get to try the many amenities the hotel has to offer. I did however have a chance for a quick lunch in Master's Lounge and I can without a doubt say the salt and pepper chicken wings are the best, excellently seasoned and with a perfect crunch! In addition I was able to enjoy their happy hour one afternoon and it offered excellent value. Bella looked great but my schedule did not permit me time to try the fine dining room this time around. Overall a wonderful setting, with a hotel I can highly recommend. Read Less

Our travel agent booked our 3 nights stay from the UK, and although it was a little way out from Victoria we still had a great time. We weren't golfers but the course and surrounds are very impressive - some nearby developments were still to be completed. On arrival we were upgraded to the main building with a huge twin double bedded room with breakfast area, large bathroom and large balcony overlooking the golf course and social area below. This area and the whole complex was never noisy. On day one we took the very convenient bus service to enable us to have a gentle introduction to the Victoria Inner Harbour area and surrounding sights. On day two we drove in - for our successful whale-watch trip. The extensive road-works on the road into Victoria did cause delays especially at peak-times. All of the staff at the hotel were very professional & extremely friendly - nothing was too much trouble - be it for arranging our whale-watch trip, finding out the bus details or directing us around the hotel complex.

Upon check in, I was told that I was 'upgraded' from the Fairways building originally booked to the Clubhouse. It only took a few hours to realize that was a HUGE lie. I was placed on the 2nd floor above a Wedding convention along with many of the other party goers and attendees. After multiple phone calls about the base too loud and how upsetting this situation was to my family, I got no apology but was told the truth about the booking. The resort was overbooked, so I got bumped to accommodate their oversight. The Manager in the morning discounted my bill but they did not give me any reason with sincere regret or apology to return. I book group blocks for hockey stays and we were considering this property for a future tournament in January, but we will be taking our business elsewhere. BEWARE of room upgrades!!

Booked the 2 night stay, with 50% off the second night. Great experience right from the warm greeting at check in. We stayed in the Clubhouse Building with a huge balcony overlooking the golf course and the mountains. Large room and decent size bathroom. The bathroom needs more shelving to store your stuff, hang towels etc. Wonderful and memorable experience.

This is the second time my wife & I have stayed at this Westin. It is located a few km's outside of Victoria but certainly worth the drive. It is a quality property...period. It is well looked after and staffed appropriately. I golfed, went to the Spa, and ate multiple meals at the resort. That's where the surprise came... My wife & I drove into the core of Victoria to eat at a few recommended restaurants. What we didn't realize was how good the restaurant, bar-pub, breakfast, outside patio food really was. Once we discovered the quality and value of the food we stayed at the resort and only ate there...this was an excellent choice. Not one meal was average...all of the meals where excellent. Anyways, if you are on your way to the Westin Bear Mountain, enjoy!
