Best Western Palads Hotel3.0 out of 5.0

I have stayed in Palads several times. Mostly because the central location only a few steps away from shopping and restaurants. It is however getting clearer and clearer that some parts of this hotel is out of date. It makes it difficult to keep clean and up to snuff. I would like to give Palads a few more stars only because of the friendly and serviceminded staff, but the rest is to shabby. Low water pressure in the shower and it smells of sulfide. They even cut back on the breakfast buffet lately.
We made a reservation at the "Romantic room", and when we arrived, there was no flower nor choclate, as promised... The break fast is very poor and boring, one of the staf make you feel dum, but the rest are kind. The rooms are clean, light and nice.
This hotel is clean and located at the top of the Main Street in the town. The breakfast is good. Staff are friendly and attentive. We were across the road in apartments and the only problem was there was no lift but we were told this on check in and offered and apology.
Good rooms with all the comforts, the design of the rooms is quite basic, not too cosy in my personal opinion but very functional and of high standard. The location is perfect, you can´t be more centrally located in Viborg. The breakfast selection is really good, service is perfect and very professional, very friendly and ready to help. The price is too expensive in my opionion but everything is expensive in Denmark.
I`ve stayed in lots of Danish Hotels and I have to say Palads is unusual. The main part of the hotel building looks large and spacious but to my surprise extra rooms are also scattered around the near vicinity of the main building. I was given a room, well more than a room, almost a suite, which was only just over the road. Very spacious, furnished with some typical Danish furniture, some dating back to the 60`s and 70`s. Bed very comfortable and a balcony with table and chairs. The large bathroom with spa bath, sauna and shower was a surprise. According to colleagues also staying at Palads the quirkiness is a theme and other rooms are similar. Great breakfast. I really quite liked this hotel. Parking is remote around the corner by the way
Old style and extremely cosy hotel, "diva"-themed and with pictures of all the famous Danish people staying overnight in the area has slept. Location right at the beginning of the central walking street, free parking (just ask for a parking ticket) 3 minutes walk behind the hotel. I did not expect my room to have a spa (room 109) so that was a pleasant surprise. Minibar with fridge, small desk, seating area, free and fast wifi. Returning to Viborg would definitely choose this hotel once again.
Palads Hotel is spread over a number of buildings. Some new and some older. We had a very nice large newer room in an adjacent building with kitchenette, sauna and spa for the price of a standard room. The room was clean, the bed was nice and everything was satisfactory. We had breakfast included, which was quite good – except for the standard Danish filter coffee, which is definitely.
See reviewers that have the expectation that is a five star hotel. It is not, it's clearly marked as a three star hotel. Compare apples with apples and nothing else! I liked the place and to be a 3 star hotel it is really good. Friendly staff, nice and clean and of course it is in the middle of everything that happens in this small city. Set your expectations correctly and you will enjoy this place, for sure.
I was there for business one week only. The service and building were on the average. Some receptionist was not really smart and building room is old. Wi-FI is free but field of work is limited. Generally the hotel is not so bad.
I have stayed in this place 3 times now. It is something different form what we are used to in Scandinavia, but so what? The rooms have different sizes and amenities. Parking is included and you really are in the centre of this charming city.
