My boyfriend and I stayed in Venice in mid December. The hotel was difficult to find but Venice is a bit of a maze so that was not unusual. The hotel is small and as mentioned in other reviews is connected to another hotel with limited signage. The room was small but clean and cosy! The room is nothing fancy but it was definitely adequate! Especially for the price 😀 The building is pretty and it has a nice atmosphere, it seems to be a family run business. The location is quite good the hotel is only a short walk from the train station. The breakfast is quite average but cheap! Limited choices but I enjoyed the croissant's with Nutella. We were lucky to get a fairly cheap price for the stay as it was winter so off season. Not sure what the rates are like in summer. Overall a decent hotel, would suffice for a short stay.
Clean rooms and bathroom. Had good breakfast. Host was very kind (our check-in was really odd time). We have to pay city tax 2.5 euros per person per night in cash. It was a pleasant stay and hotel is near canal.
Really calm and lovely place near to bus and train station. It's in the city center so everywhere we can get on feet.. price include breckfest buffet with fresh meals. Owner is helpfull gentleman witch speak really good english. RoomService nice and polite. For that price its Perfect standard espetially in Venice.. We like It a lot :)
Venice, what can you say? This is a very basic hotel offering, tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. If you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel on the main Island, this will more than suffice. The hotel shares a front desk with another hotel, Hotel al Malcanton. You must enter into the lobby of the hotel in the large yellow building to check in. Then the rooms are entered through a locked, gated courtyard. There is a charming sitting area in the courtyard with flowers and vines overhead. It’s a quiet, romantic spot to share a bottle of wine or pastries. Through the gate and then up a long flight of stairs (no lift/elevator-not handicapped accessible) to the hallway with the rooms. Our room was quite small with three twin beds, (two pushed together) and one separate. The room has a wonderfully strong, easy to use, AC unit. There was one wardrobe for clothes, and surprisingly a folding rack for a suitcase. We kept our clothes in our suitcases. The room does have a safe with an old fashioned skeleton looking key. The key to the room and gate are provided and are traditional keys. There is a large window that overlooks the neighbors with a heavy pull down shade to open/close for privacy as desired. The bathroom is quite new looking but very tiny. It does have a bidet but the corner shower only provides a very narrow opening to enter/exit. We are large people and barely fit. We included breakfast in our stay. The hotel breakfast included: milk, ACE juice and water. Hot tea, coffee, cappuccino, espresso are available. Corn flakes are the only cereal. Many different flavors of yogurt. Salami, ham and provolone cheese were offered, as were plain rolls, sesame and poppy seed and croissants. Butter and jam, honey and Nutella. We found the breakfast to be totally sufficient. All the employees we interacted with were friendly and spoke English well. The area surrounding the hotel offers many welcoming restaurants and shops. Everything is a fairly quick walk away. The nearest Water bus stop to San Marco is at San Tomà and a bit confusing to find. Look for the signs and spray painted directions high up on the building walls on the way.
It's kind of hard to find this hotel. But Venezia is kind of hard to see map. This place is near by P.LRoma takes about 8min to walk which is very great and quiet place. Breakfast is not that fancy but good.
This is a mix of hostel and hotel. The hotel's front desk is located at the hostel - where you can get the keys, and check in. First of all, they requested me to pay the city tax in cash when I arrived. So I did, and didn't get any receipt to that. Second. You have to leave the hostel and find a small gate in the other side of the building, up stairs, because there is no elevator in the building. (Imagine doing that with a couple +65 with their luggages). So you'll find a front desk which there is none there. I was lucky to get a room at the first floor. Third. The breakfast was very poor and disappointing. Fourth (and the worst). We were supposed to checkout around 7am and for our (bad) surprise, there wasn't anyone in the front desk of the hostel!!! We had to wait around 15 minutes to find someone there. The person responsible for the breakfast (and NOT for the desk) came and helped me out. Nevertheless, she asked us again about the city tax!!!! The only two good points are: the cleaning and the location. If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Venice, I feel very confident to tell you'll find better options there. I don't recommend this one!
This is a great hotel! Perfectly located and you can walk anywhere in Venice from here. The owner is a really great guy and he personally runs the hotel, they offer a really good breakfast and we had to leave early in the morning to catch the train and he even open the breakfast area early so we wouldn't leave without eating first! How cool is that! Not even on a 5 star hotel they would do that for a guest!
If you are looking for the perfect spot to get in, out, and around Venezia quickly without sacrificing sleep or "atmosphere" quality, Locanda Gaffaro is it! The location of the hotel is impeccable: although only a 10-minute walk south from the train station or the parking garage, the hotel is yet in the center of a residential neighborhood and is quiet at all times. Further 10 minute south is the S Toma vaporetto station which you can easily reach Piazza S Marco. Frari and S Rocco, along with many cheap eats particularly in the local favorite Campo S Magherita, are even closer to the hotel. In other words, you are essentially in the center of the authentic Venice with easy access to other parts of the city thanks to its proximity to many vaporetto stops! While the hotel room itself is not glamorous, its homely setting makes it a perfect place to rest from exploring the beautiful Venezia because of the quiet environment. The included breakfast is a simple yet high-quality selection of choices of pastries and cold cuts to give you a jump start for a new day of exploration. If you are a family or a group, you even get your own balcony over the serene courtyard! No matter what though, a beautiful canal is literally steps away from the hotel door. Overall, I highly recommend staying in this hotel, regardless of the length of your stay! The location simply cannot get any better especially if you plan to use vaporetto.
We stayed at this hotel for a few days before Christmas. It is in a very good location, close to the main bus/train station and close to the main part of Venice. All easily by foot. We walked every where when here and only took around 15 minutes to get to st marks square. The hotel is very clean and the staff are nice and welcoming. The rooms are nice and spacious for two people and include a safe at no extra cost. The breakfast is nice, including croissants, cereal, eggs bread. As the hotel is in a quite area, it is close to reasonably priced restaurants and cafes (€10-€20 for a meal). We would recommend this hotel 100%, we also only paid £42 per night which is very good for a short trip.
This hotel is located in the dorsoduro neighboorhood (just 8 minutes on foot from the Santa Lucia train station). It's in a very quite part, but yet gives you quick access to the San Polo neighboorhood; within 3 minutes you are at the Scuola di San Rocco and another 5 minutes at the vaporetto docking station of San Toma. I had an attic room which was spacious enough for one person and clean! Breakfast is included but was very poor in its varieties. Mind you that the wifi in the attic room was very poor.
