This hotel is in need of serious updating. The staff was nice, and the continental breakfast was good, but the room was last updated when my grandfather was in Italy, WWII. The only upside was that it had a swamp cooler running that helped cool down the room.

Staff was very friendly ,and good price for the location. Rooms were not cleaned throughout. If you just need a quick place to to get some sleep after enjoying the beautiful city of Venice, and your spouse doesn't mind should be good for you.

A really wonderful place to stay! The hotel is close to everything in Venice, and easy to get to from the Airport or train station. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was excellent! This not a fancy hotel, but I would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay at a good, central location in Venice.

Small room but comfortable. Wonderful view of the Canal. Comfortable bed. Hotel staff were very pleasant and very helpful.

Convenient place to stay, I Wish it's has a elevator

breakfast excellent - served from 0800 to 1000-it pays to get there as it opens! apart from the 3 flights of stairs to room at top of hotel and no english tv we were very pleased that we had booked this hotel and would definitely stay here again - i should have paid more then we would have got a room on lower floor!

Wife and I stayed here in October. Great location proximal to bus and train stations for our trip. Desk staff spoke great English and were able to sell us the concert tickets we wanted. Continental buffet breakfast was pretty good compared to the rest of our trip. The bedroom electrical outlet didn't work (TV, refrigerator), but the one in the bathroom did work (for charging devices). Some mold in the shower, but hey...it's Venice!

Venice has become extraordinarily expensive. Taking the overall expense of Venice into account, this hotel was not a complete ripoff, but it is hard to consider this a 3 star hotel. The small lobby was cramped and shabby. The room was adequate in size, but not large. The mattress was simply awful- it felt like sleeping on a sleeper sofa. The bathroom had capped stubs of pipes sticking out of the wall. While not important to us, the TV was postage stamp size. We woke up to a delicious smell from the kitchen. I'm not sure what we were smelling since the included breakfast was poor.

Great hotel in an incredible location. Very convenient to access water taxi stops, and close to the train terminal. Staff was very helpful and professional.

The hotel is close to everything you need to see in Venice! The design is not modern however, sometimes it is very comfortable to stay in old places. Also, breakfasts are tasty.

The hotel was very close to everything & the staff was really nice

I booked 2 rooms. Both of them face the river with pretty nice view. :) I left around 4AM in the morning, they packed breakfast for us ahead of time. They are pretty thoughtful. The shortcoming is Internet speed.

The hotel is in a great location, within 5 minute walk from the bus station. Our room was a little smaller than expected but we were in Venice. Shops and restaurants and the Grand Canal just outside the hotel. Staff are great, and the breakfast was a good variety of European standards. The Cappuccino machine was pretty cool. We enjoyed our stay and will return.

It is hard to get around Venice with your luggage. If you have a lot of bags this is a great place because there is only one bridge to cross (that doesn't have a ramp) to get to the hotel from Piazzale Roma. It is right on the Grand Canal and we had two adults and two kids, the room looked out the back but still had a nice view. The included breakfast was adequate with cereals, yogurt, granola, pastries, breads with spreads, Orange and grapefruit juice, hard boiled eggs. I would recommend this place and would stay again.

When we arrived late at night we were met by one staff person. With no elevator, the porter we had hired from the taxi was kind enough to carry our heavy bags up the steps. The room was not large enough for us and our bags at the same time. There was only one electrical outlet in the room and it was being used by the TV that sat on top of the tiny refrigerator. The only other outlet was next to the door in the bathroom which we ran an extention cord across the room for my cpap machine. There was no outlet in the bathroom! The bed was a 6 inch mattress on old springs just like the old roll away beds. My husband and I are not young and it was miserable. The "garden" was a small patch of grass and weeds with two small plastic tables and 4 plastic chairs. We stayed two nights and then cancelled our next seven nights even without another alternative. Thankfully we found another hotel down the canal which was much more appropriate, did not misrepresent what they were and was much less expensive.

Good experience helpful staff spacious room nice breakfast

The outside of the hotel is not the greatest, but I was surprised with how clean the room and bathroom were. The breakfast was fair and enough to get us started for the day and the staff was friendly and helpfull. I just thought it was a bit of a walk (about 35min) from the hotel to The Piazza de San Marco... that was kind of a down side for me. But on the same note, the hotel is located just across the train station and from the vaporetto stop, which is very convenient.

I reached Venice after 30 hours of air travel followed immediately by an overnight train ride. Needless to say, when I reached Canal hotel at 6 am Venetian time, I was bone weary. However, I had entire day of sightseeing ahead of me. The staff at the Canal hotel were super friendly. Upon explaining my situation, they were very accommodating and allowed me to check in early so that I could freshen up. The gentleman at the desk, Mr. Paolo allowed me to check in early @ 9am, although their check in time is 1pm. Moreover, since the only room that had been emptied so far was a double room, he upgraded me to a double room from my single room. When I offered to pay the difference, he refused to take my money. Lastly, since I had just arrived, and was not entitled to a free breakfast till the next day, he also allowed me to get the breakfast for 5 Euros instead of the usual 10 euros. This kind of customer service goes above and beyond what one normally sees at hotels. I would highly recommend this hotel just for its customer service.

We were very uncomfortable while staying here. Our room smelt like fresh paint, which was interesting since there were scuff marks all over the walls in the hotel and our room walls were covered in fabric. There was a wicker basket in the bathroom holding mini shampoos, lotion, etc. which was caked with dust and dirt. The desk, or vanity, in the bedroom had a crevice on the top of it outlining it which was also filled with dust and dirt. We had two windows. One faced the Canal Grande and the other had the curtains drawn. The window sill behind the drawn curtains was very dusty. The walls had satin fabric covering them which looked dirty and I can only imagine how dirty they actually were. The hotel is located on the Canal Grande, however we were not in the room much so the view really was not worth the cost, dirtiness, or uncomfortableness we felt staying here. Even the outside/front of the hotel looked like it needed major fixing up, and the hallways of the hotel needed fixing up as well (torn carpet, scuffed walls, cleaning supplies sitting in corners, etc.). We will definitely not stay here again.

The hotel is extremely well located. It's a 3 minute walk from the station, so you don't have to walk all around Venice with your luggage. Another thing I particularly enjoyed was the advice that we got from the Staff. We asked for recommendations for both lunch and dinner and the restaurants that they recommended were superb!
