Empire Landmark Hotel

3.0 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

I've read the Empire Landmark is being closed down soon (Sep 30, 2017) and likely demolished in favor of high rise condos. Too bad, even though the rooms are a bit spartan and need some work, the EL's strengths are many: incredible views especially facing Stanley Park and the harbor from high floors, Cloud 9 revolving restaurants even more spectacular views, a great location on Robson and only a few blocks from Stanley Park, and often times affordable rates. For years I've been willing to overlook the two-star rooms in exchange for all the other benefits. The hotel will be missed and I'm glad I was able to stay as many times as I did.

Helpful staff, pleasant rooftop bar, good views of the city. Room was very basic but comfortable.

It is very convenient location to shopping, food and heart of the downtown and near to Canada olace where we catch our cruise to Alaska. It was an excellent view of fireworks from our room on Canada Day.on Aug 5th.

The a/c did not work very well. We had to leave the sliding door open to cool down the room, but even that was extremely loud and squeaky when we went to close it. The bed was very uncomfortable, making for two terrible nights. The staff was moderately helpful, never rude or anything, but nothing special. The only good thing about it was the location. They are barely keeping this place alive.

Wonderful sunset, wonderful view of Vancouver from the room and the restaurant. Balcony in the room well appreciated. Old hotel not in good shape, not well maintained would need refreshment. No hair dryer in the room. Breakfast buffet not good.

Location is good - near restaurants, Stanley Park, even a grocery store. The lobby is nice and spacious. We did have clean towels and beddings. However, the hotel needs a lot of improvement. The draperies have holes, glass doors need cleaning, cigarette butts and tissues on the floor, dusty railings, etc. on the balcony! Bathroom floor not mopped. Bad internet connection. Never been to a hotel where access to business center is limited to passengers of a certain airline.

First time to Vancouver. I was blown away by the how helpful the staff treated us. Great location, close to fashion stores, parks, restaurants. Fabulous city view from our room.

Moved to a different hotel because we felt gross just being in the room. The bed was old and very uncomfortable. The room was old, never updated/remodeled and the deck was gross and old and dirty. We cancelled our reservation asap and left the hotel. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone.

very enjoyable experience. Walkable to Granville Island ferry , cruise ship just a short cab ride away and Robson street is most enjoyable.

Average, the view was amazing but room was ok. Room is outdated, wish they would renovate it. Parking can be improved.

The hotel was older and dated, but a perfect location to explore Vancouver.

The hotel was in a great location. All of Downtown Vancouver was in walking distance and destination places such as the Sea to Sky Gondola, Capliano Suspension Bridge, Cypress Mountain, Airport, Van Dusen Botanical Gardens were accessible cost effectively through a cab/ event provided shuttle. I stayed on the 30th floor and had an amazing view of the downtown. The hotel does not provided a shuttle or continental breakfast. The associates were extremely helpful.

Short sheet did not cover end of bed. Did not refresh coffee or shampoo.

The location was excellent, and for the most part the staff were nice and helpful. The only thing is that they placed us in a room right next to some sort of mechanical room or something, and all night, I kept getting awaken by the loud sound of what seems to be copper water pipes. Otherwise it was pretty good, but the noise was certainly a major issue.

i left my iPad in the room after check out , left the country call back to the hotel household service, they found my iPad and send it back to the state for me.

We had a great stay and found the hotel clean, comfortable and a good price. Earlier reviews stated it was outdated but we did not. The location is perfect in the West End and close to everything. Highly recommended.

The hotel is very old and dated. It was adequate for what we needed and we liked that it was convenient to everything. The interior needs upgrading and just some overall cleanliness steps taken. (scuffs on walls and doors) Overall "old" appearance in the hallways where the rooms are and inside the rooms. The internet connection is marginal at best. The staff was helpful but not much. Its not the hospitality you would expect in most hotels in the US for the same price. They also charge about $13 per day to park in their parking garage.

The hotel has seen better days, The room was comfortable, but furnishings were old (dresser, bathroom, table, headboard). One visible outlet and it was being used for the table light and refrigerator. Windows had not been cleaned in sometime. Staff was very helpful and informative. Most would expect more for the price.

Arrived to the hotel from Seattle around 3:00pm.The parking was easy, the checking was smooth, the hotel staff we're welcoming, pleasant and informative. We loved the restaurant in the 42th floor. The view from our balcony was breath taking. We absolutely go back again.

The only bad thing is that PARKING is NOT INCLUDED. You have to pay 18 CANADIAN dollars to use the parking structure. Other than that, this is a great hotel. I have been twice and will be back soon. Robson street is fantastic.
