To get a new experience it was fine. Near Chinatown and short distance from cruise ships. Everyone very helpful.

Poor area, full of homeless. Very old facility, small room with mo Ac, no hot water between 11am and 5:30pm. Room has nothing beside a small tv. Not recommended.

They have bed bugs. I got all bit including my face. Terrible. This hotel must be shut down. The streetis full of prostitutes day and night. There must be a standard to be held for hotels. This one falls really down. I also paid for parking for 2 nights and get a ticket! Amazing!!

The room was relatively clean. The location is really horrible!! I didn't know that, but we booked only for one night before. I thought, it's okay for one night. A stranger tried to get into our room and HIS key matched OUR room!! Thank God I locked the door with the chain, otherwise he would have come in! That is not how it works! I even had a nightmare about this and the location. Too bad, it was definitely a nice hotel in the early years, but now the street is full of drug addicts and homeless people of the worst.

The building itself is old but reasonably maintained. The carpet is a little worn, but clearly vacuumed, etc. This is a great *room* for the price. The neighborhood isn't good. I had my car window smashed even though there was *nothing* in the car. (I know better than to leave things in a car.)

I should look for another hotel somewhere else far from the downtown or old Chinatown area. It was one of disappointed experience I have.

The staff was very helpful, and nice. The room was very small, but it worked for one night. The area is not good. There are a lot of homeless , and addicts very close by, but they never gave us any problem.

Walking distance to Gas Town. Bus service is good. I parked my car to load baggage. A strange woman opened the car door and got in. I told her I wasn’t doing business this trip and she went away.

Hotel staff were cordial . The location was good. But the rooms have no resemblance to those provided in the advertisement. The rooms were so congested with a small window which was about a feet from the next building. TV had just 12 channels. There is no AC and the table fan was pretty noisy

Grand old place with character and charm although a little creaky with its age.

Hotel ok for one night. Surrounding neighborhood frightening and depressing.

Serious updates needed but pretty limited due to age of building. Would have been a better experience if it was located in a different location of town so no fault of the hotel. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable of area. Very helpful. Unfortunately the neighborhood was not ideal which I can only say so nicely.

Scary neigborhood.not worth money and time spent there. U will lose more for the less money u pay

Never had to cancel an Orbitz hotel res before - until now. Made res in a hurry - didn't view reviews - big mistake. Warning To All - this hotel is in the worst part of Vancouver - SKID ROW. We tried to walk to the hotel to check in but could not get close to it. This hotel is in the heart of EAST HASTINGS - the worst Skid Row area I've ever seen and I've traveled around the world. Orbitz should not have this hotel listed in its system. We got to about a block away from the hotel by walking to it and it was like a scene from The Walking Dead. Junkies openly shooting up on the sidewalk, prostitutes, needle exchanges, stench of marijuana, filth, excrement and used needles laying on the sidewalk. Canceled hotel and took hit on late cancel - gladly. Stay Way Away from this hotel and this entire portion of Vancouver BC. Never seen anything like it.

The location is horrible. When we got out of the taxi in front of the hotel there was a prostitute on the corner. Many, many homeless sleeping on the nearby sidewalks. We walked to breakfast a few blocks away and saw many used needles on the street. Many vacant buildings in the area contribute to the transient population. The vast majority of the people that walked by the hotel were obviously strung out on drugs. Our first room smelled like urine so they put us in another room and that one was fine. However, the hallways smelled of urine and marijuana smoke. They do keep the area in front of the hotel free of transients but they are all around the area. They rent rooms by the month as well as by the day.

Yes the hotel has a lot of history of the Canadian culture. I was impressed with the pub and the rooms was to my satisfaction with some updates needed for more comfort. I enjoy the short walk to the main attractions there and felt safe.

The saying you get what you pay for applies here. I will say that it wasn't all bad. The area itself is full of homeless shelters and homeless people so they are around all hours of the night. The plus side is that the hotel is close to Gastown, within walking distance, but thats if you want to walk around that area. I cabbed it everywhere. The hotel is more than 100 years old they have a really cool old switchboard operator in the lobby. The food at the pub next door is pretty good. The staff need work on their customer service skills.

It's definitely for the budget minded. Very close to skid row, but we walked one bock up or down from Hastings and really had no problems. Skid row folks kept to themselves. Room was very small and our tv didn't work. The front desk staff was great! They let us check in really early and they were really nice. Beware of rooms by the LOUD elevator that runs all night.

Hotel should not be on list of "normal" hotels. It is located in a horrible location, where hundreds of unfortunate homeless gather, engaging in drug use amd prostitution. The hotel staff is actually quite nice, however, providing sincere help whenever needed. I think the issue is that Vancouver is a very expensive city, and this hotel is, much much less. So, it could serve its purpose for certain folks.
