Unattractive room, small, dark, smelly and very warm (felt like a sauna). No airconditioning in the room. Although the room was paid in advance for 1 night, we immediately left after entering the room and booked another hotel in Maastricht.

Wonderful

Cozy and clean. Would recommend. Would go there again. Safe area and nice to walk around. Great dinner in the restaurant, and lovely typical European breakfast.

Business stay

The hotel is in a very convinient location and easily accessible with public transportation. Staff is very friendly but The room service was not satisfactory at all. During a 6 nights stay the bed sheets were not changed once. The room was very cold although i turned the heat to the maximum. Curtains were moved by wind leaking from a poorly isolated balcony door. Very cold and not clean enough. The bathroom smelled a bit. But overall it was ok for a business stay.

Restaurant closed

We checked in at 1945 with the intention of eating in the hotel restaurant. We made our intentions perfectly clear with the receptionist on arrival so after putting our bags in our rooms imagine our surprise to be told by the waitress that the restaurant closes at 2000. We could find no mention of this online or with the booking confirmation. We then had 2 very hungry 5 year olds and after much online searching we found a kebab shop down the road. It seems nothing in the local area opens after 2100. We couldn’t walk the children into the town as it was too far. That aside the hotel was clean, comfortable and the breakfast was perfect. The location for the Christmas markets was perfect, only a 20 minute walk.

VALKENBERG 2018

Room 305 was a converted attic. Shower had no screen so result was everything in the bathroom got wet and water ran towards the bedroom. Staff at hotel new to their jobs and not orientated. Need to make dinner bookings by 5:00pm or like us after travelling all day and arriving at 6:00 you will have to find your own restaurant.

Nice hotel. Breakfast was good. Polite staff. The room was neat and comfortable. The staff at the hotel speak good English and hence communication was not a problem.
