I have stayed at this hotel a few times now and it is always delightful. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The beds are soft and comfortable, rooms are large and spacious. I love the beautiful view overlooking the river. Breakfast is absolutely delicious! The hotel is located in a very nice area with a large grocery store/mall that you can directly access through the hotel. There are plenty of delicious restaurants and cute boutique shops within walking distance. Great location and I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Montevideo.
I've been going to this hotel for many years. This time it was a disappointment .For start: There is NO valet to park your car.No matter the weather you have to walk a short distance to the Punta Carretas Shopping Garage.God forbid is near X-Mas or any other holiday. The rooms are in desperate need of a refurbishment.Everything is old and passé. The good thing is: location and good service. That will be all.
We stayed here for one night over a Saturday. We chose this hotel to move to a hotel outside of the Old City for one night. The hotel is modern and clean. There were no issues with our room or bathroom. The club lounge on the 23rd floor was modern and had a good selection of food and drinks at night. The breakfast is definitely more a local selection. But the continental selection items at breakfast were nice and the club attendants were very nice. The bar on the lobby is small, but had a good selection of wines. The two bartenders we had while there were very good. The hotel is attached to a shopping mall, so that was convenient. The construction people mention in prior reviews is nearly done. They are building an aLoft (SPG brand hotel) that is opening in the next week or so. The property is located in a more residential neighborhood and seemed to be a much cleaner neighborhood than the Old City. You can quickly walk to the oceanfront that has a couple restaurants to try or if you just want to walk along the water. WiFi worked just fine for us while there; we had no speed issues. I would definitely stay here again, but if you want more to do and see right in the immediate area ... then perhaps something in the Old City or other neighborhoods would be better.
with a group of executives we stayed several days and were so pleased of our decision.we were received at the check in desk in such a quick way.in a couple of minutes each one had his room (all of them with spectacular views of the coast and the city!!) .as our work started the next day, most of us went to the spa located on the 26th floor.what a wonderful experience!!excercise, sauna, jacuzzis, warm big swimming pool,....The restaurant downstairs has a complete amazing breakfast, great lunch and superb dinner. our meetings were on the 25th floor where we had cozy coffee breaks.the staff of the hotel is very kind and helpful, always ready to solve everybody's demands. thank you Sheraton!!
The building is nice and comfortable, is very well located although there were some ongoing constructions when I was there. The Shopping Mall is directly connected to the hotel, beaches are not far from the hotel, there are a few restaurants around and you also have a car rental office just across the street. There is a parking at an extra charge but you usually can park on the street. The staff is very professional, nice and helpful. Breakfast is pretty good and there are some bikes you can borrow. The pool located on floor 26 is nice with a glass roof that let the sun light to pass. On the bad side, ther were no robes in my room. (It seems more expensive rooms on the upper floors have robes) and it was impossible to watch TV, the image was pixelated or disapeared completely and sometimes a weak signal message was displayed on the screen. Hot tubs need some maintenance, only half of the jets were working. The shower did not have the pressure one can expect on a hotel like this. Summirizing, with a very little effort, things could be even better.
Our party of seven checked into four club level rooms at this property. Despite early arrival we were all accommodated immediately, and clean, comfortable rooms with nice views of the city, and of Rambla Gandhi/Playa de los Pocitos. The club lounge on the 23rd floor is small--but never crowded and has attractive food and beverage options both at cocktail hour (6 pm until 10 pm) and at breakfast (6:30 until 11). The hotel has a direct connection to Punta Carretas shopping centre, and there are many good restaurants in the immediate vicinity. Oddly, of our four rooms, only 1 had a coffee maker. Only two were supplied with facecloths. Another did not have towels replaced during one day's servicing. While follow ups with the front desk were cheerfully accommodated, these shortcomings should not occur.
Checked in hotel asked for upgrade room and not accomodated . Staff not helpful or friendly . Cold and uncaring attitude . Have frequented this hotel several times in the past and it's a hit or miss for me . In addition , the rooms are very hot . Air conditioning not up to par!
Business trip - stayed here. Living up to their chain, the Sheraton maintains a luxurious atmosphere and caters to their guest in a polite and courteous manner. Granite and marble structures along with glossy wood trim in a contemporary setting. PROS: I consider luxury accommodations. Bed was great. Staff is friendly and helpful with many speaking English and politely ignore my poor Spanish. CONS: Pricey - however not is this is what you want. English was freely engaged which was helpful as my Spanish was non-existent. The lobby was clean and the rooms were the same. I felt very comfortable there but I would find it out of my price range if it wasn't a business trip. Again the staff was courteous and the room was serviced daily with no issues from me. The bed was comfortable and as I got a sinus infection and head cold, I spent several days in it so it was a blessing. Outside the lobby is their restaurant where I did breakfast - buffet. While the food wasn't bad, I found it pricey for all that was offered and I would imagine you could find something outside their facilities if you looked. However, for business related functions (or you are in a hurry and don't want to mess with looking elsewhere), it would be good. I believe they had regular ordering as well. You are also next to a mall which was extremely helpful and a great plus. I am not a mall person but being a foreigner you can go there and look around and "explore" in a safer manner. English was spoken a lot there too. Overall this place is excellent as it caters to what they wish to serve: Business class or those with more money or wish a little more pampering. If you are looking for a low cost place this is not it. If you wish to "live it up" then this could be your place.
I was in Uruguay for work for two days 2/16 - 2/17 and arrived on wednesday morning early at 4am so stayed at the hotel from 2/15. Upon arrival the front desk clerk was kind but being a platinum member, there was no offer for upgrade. I figured it was due to the early time I arrived and left it there as I was exhausted from my 4 plus hour plane ride red eye. I went to my room. I will say that smell is critical to me -- and there was a fresh smell of the hotel as well as the hallways. entering the room i was underwhelmed -- i feel there definitely needs to be some upgrades to the hotel. The carpet was patchy and old with stains as well as the wall and plaster -- the room was VERY stuffy and had that sewage like smell which means that the toilet most likely needed to be flushed but when still reeked a bit. I always wipe down the room with wipes and check the bed for bed bugs -- none noted but there was a stain on the inside of the sheet that separates you from the comforter so i called for room service a bit later and she came changed and left. Overall -- the rooms are functional -- but not for long time stay. I did not try the breakfast but did have room service. Being a vegan I ordered the vegan burger and it was A M A Z I N G! I was pleasantly surprised at how well it was prepared as well as there are a number of vegan restaurants in uruguay but to know i could order from the menu and work and be satisfied it was amazing and delish. it can with potatoes on the side and overall was Y U M M Y! I also sent my clothes for pressing and washing and they were timely and efficient and the clothes looked overall well. I think it is a standard sheraton with ok service. I would not recommend for long term stay but for business it is ideal.
Cons: We stayed in this hotel for 35 days, it is a long time and enough time to give full and honest review. First thing first: if you are planning on buiseness stay and you need strong, ever lasting Internet connection - look elsewhere. Here in Sheraton, the wifi is not only weak, but constantly dissapearing or flactuates from weak to super weak. Which is extrimely annoying and frustrating if you rely %100 on it. Breakfast - decent variety, constant, and never changing. You can entertain yourself watching ppl sniffing fresh squizzed juices to smell the flavors because there are no signs of what is that... Very intertaining. Rooms- are standard with tiny fridge and no microwave. Indoor Pool - is small and very smelly of chlorine and you can spot an employee splashing with her kid. Guess who she knows... Pros: Location- it is super close La Rambla but if you plan on going to Old City and other places, you will need a car or take a bus. Decide for yourself!
