House needs repairs and has distinctive smells
The neighborhood is phenomenal. Just want to say that first off and the home was super convenient to stores and restaurants. But this house needs a lot of repairs and it does have an interesting medicinal smell.. The host apparently makes hemp soaps so there are a lot of smells in the home. For people with breathing issues, this causes major problems so that needs to be expressly stated in the ad. The upstairs air conditioning does not work at all. Host installed window units in two bedrooms but the remaining areas were awful up there, which caused the downstairs to also not cool as well. Both bathroom sinks upstairs did not have hot water since both were leaking and they had been turned off. No shower curtain in one bathroom and we had the hang it ourselves. Toilets would run and you have to fix them constantly. ANTS! After the rains, ants were everywhere. You could not even sit on the (broken) couch without ants getting on you. Contacted host but no response. The only way in was through coded garage and you could easily accidentally lock yourself out the way the door locks are designed. Kitchen was nice but trash was full when we arrived. Pool table was fun for the families so that was a nice bonus but the room was so hot, we could not play for long periods. Host had tons of cable channels and a nice sound system on the TV. Internet was fast. House was pretty clean and beds were mostly comfortable but really small. One bedroom could not be used at all because it was so hot. Host does live in the home but not too many personal items in the way. Host allowed us to check in early, which was nice. Washer and dryer were really nice to have. Hot water was not hot so if you need a hot bath or shower, you will not get one. No coffee pot so we had to buy one. The neighbor came over and checked our license plates at one point (walked in driveway to look at cars), which was really strange. Overall we had a decent stay but the ants caused us lots of issues and I wish the host had at least contacted me about the issue. I was afraid to spray (would have had to buy some) since that can cause health issues in some people so I was trying to be respectful to him and his home.
