An amazing place!!! Our family rented the Hacienda and we had a blast! It was one of the best family vacations ever! We recommend the breakfast ride, the Team penning, the evening activities... we loved it all! We highly recommend the White Stallion Ranch!!!
Excellent facilities in a historic, family run ranch. A very warm welcome awaits, with fantastic amenities and everything that you might need for a riding vacation. The horses are well cared for, well schooled and appropriately matched to the guest's riding ability. Lots of daily rides and lessons to suit family riding and plenty of alternative activities available e.g. rock climbing, hiking and a tour of classic movie locations on the ranch land. The food was lovely, evening entertainment great and the staff knowledge and support was spot on. Great spa (massage with Mary was amazing!) small gym and lovely big pool. Many families visit year after year and we could see why. Can't wait to go again!!
We just returned from an incredible week at the White Stallion Ranch with a large extended family group ranging in age from 7 to 70s, and we could not have asked for a better trip! We were celebrating our parents' 50th anniversary and had spent a lot of time looking for the perfect place for this special adventure. From the moment we arrived, White Stallion exceeded our expectations. The ranch is located in a beautiful and peaceful desert setting, and the accommodations are charming and extremely well appointed. We stayed in a spacious and beautifully decorated family suite with our 3 kids and loved the comfy beds, upgraded bathrooms, and outdoor living spaces (patios with fireplaces). We were right next door to the rest of our family members, who also loved their accommodations and space. It was great for a big group because all of our extended family could be close together and yet each individual family could have its own separate living space. The kids loved having the freedom to run around, play in the game room, pet the animals in the petting zoo, go to the pool, etc. We all loved a break from the hectic pace of life in a beautiful setting where things slow down and you can just relax. Everything is very low key and casual, and you can do as much or as little as you want to on any given day. We loved that there were lots of options for activities, but no rigid schedule for guests to follow. The emphasis is very much on guests spending time with their families doing what they want to do. The food was wonderful and varied and offered something for everyone at every meal. Highlights were the breakfast rides where you ride to their cookout spot in the desert, and a hayride to a lunchtime cookout in that same beautiful spot. Something about that setting makes the food the absolute BEST you have ever eaten! We also loved the amazing patio dinners at the ranch each night. They have an outdoor kitchen area where the food is grilled, set up and served while you dine with other guests under the stars. Each night after dinner there was fun entertainment. The horses are of course the centerpieces of the week and the reason most of us choose a dude ranch vacation, and they did not disappoint! The ranch does a great job matching you with a horse for the week, and part of the fun is building a relationship with your horse over the course of your stay. We had a wide variety of riding abilities in our group, from years of experience to complete beginners (to one who said he wasn't going to ride at all, but who wound up riding every day and loving it!). The ranch made the week outstanding for each person in our family and with the huge variety of riding opportunities there really is something for everyone. The grand parents enjoyed one slow scenic ride each day, while others in our family rode 3 or 4 times each day and took advantage of every single opportunity to be in the saddle! The horses are well cared for and the wonderful wranglers know all the backgrounds and quirks of each horse, which is not surprising given the incredible attention to every detail we saw over and over again at the ranch. Mountain rides and fast rides were highlights for our family, but I have to say that team penning was about the most fun thing we did all week! It is not to be missed if you are lucky enough to get to spend time at this amazing ranch. We were there over spring break, which is one of their busier weeks, and the staff still went above and beyond in helping us make our family celebrations special. I cannot say enough about the wonderful people are at WSR. The True family's personal commitment to guests can be seen in every aspect of the ranch and the staff is outstanding. The genuine hospitality is absolutely 5 star in every single way. It isn't any one thing - it is everything they do to make you feel valued and welcome. Some of the family lives onsite and they are visible everywhere each day, interacting with guests and attentive to everything that happens on the ranch. Every one who works there - from the front desk staff to the housekeepers to the wranglers - is just fantastic! We also enjoyed the other guests we got to know during our stay. Most of the guests are repeat visitors, and by the time you leave you can't help but feel part of the WSR "family" and want to think about when you can plan your next visit to this beautiful, peaceful slice of heaven in the desert.
We've been wanting to go here for a few years but it never fit into our travel schedule. This year we did. We booked nearly a year in advance and still did not get the exact dates we wanted but that's a GOOD thing because it seems 90% of the people are return guests. We met people that had been 10 years in a row, others that had been going there on and off for 30 years. No joke! Ok, back to the review: The riding is awesome. We are beginners and only took slow rides but there is enough variety that over 8+ rides we never took the same route. They have over 3000 acres so plenty of places to see. If you are more advanced (and you can take lessons on property) the fast rides and all day rides looked awesome. The food was great. Cooked to order in the am, nice lunch options buffet style and buffet dinners. However, lots of variety on what to eat and where. Breakfast rides were our favorite. Also a hay ride lunch. Great food, even for those of us that don't like buffets. The lodging was very nice. We did a Family suite with a separate room with 2 double beds for the kids. Nice patio out front. Rooms were in great shape. Comfy beds. The people were perhaps the best part. It truly seemed like everyone there wanted to be there. And the staff ratio is very high. Always someone around to help out. The bar at night is self serve but the prices are very low. Lots to do for the kids with the pool, basketball court, petting zoo, etc. No one was bored in the 4 days we stayed. We can't wait to go back!
This ranch was absolutely phenomenal. I have previously been to Ranchos de los Caballeros and Tanque Verde, which were both amazing, so I thought that this would be a let down. I have never been more wrong in my life. The food was properly good, with all the food that you would expect on a ranch. The ranch is family owned, so all the staff cared about their jobs and were very interested in you and what you needed. I only went for 2 days , but after those days I was left wanting more.
I wanted to try Western Style riding (being an English style rider) and went on to Tripadvisor to search for a place suitable for a lone traveller and White Stallion Ranch came up top. Reading through the reviews it's hard to believe it can be that good. Well after booking in May 2017 and eventually travelling in March 2018 I can say it certainly lives up to it's reviews. It's amazing. From the point you get picked up at Tuscon airport you're made to feel welcome. The rooms are excellent - the have everything you need and are serviced daily. Mine was right beside the horses. The food was amazing. Tea, coffee, lemonade, iced tea, etc are available all day free of charge. In fact the only thing you pay for during your stay are drinks from the bar which are reasonably priced. And then to the horses and the riding. The horses are well cared for and you're matched to a suitable steed for the duration of your stay (you can change if you have any issues, etc). There are plenty of rides too - I rode for the full 6 days and didn't do the same trail twice. There are slow rides, fast rides, breakfast rides, scary mountain rides (well I was scared but the horses aren't!), half day and full day rides and plenty more. I met guests there who have been going for 20 years so that must say something about the place. This was supposed to be a once in a lifetime holiday as a treat to myself. It certainly was a holiday of a lifetime, but I will be back ..... just not sure when. Finally, all the staff are just fantastic - from front desk, cleaners, waiting staff and of course the wranglers. I'm not sure how they get to know your name but somehow they do which does add a nice touch. I went alone but came back with loads of new friends.
My wife and I had our first trip to your property from a silent auction certificate we won. We loved it so much that we booked 4 days next March to have a longer stay. We live in Tucson and well, really did not know this place existed. What a treasure to have this ranch in Pima County. The staff was first class and very accommodating. The facilities pristine and the rooms were very comfortable. We enjoyed our first horse ride. The guest are wonderful and I noticed regulars. You must be doing something right. Great value for what you receive. A shout out to the lady who made our anniversary cake, it was wonderful. Andy K.
I have wanted to go on a guest ranch vacation for many years and have researched a bunch of them. I booked my week at White Stallion Ranch after reading all of the wonderful reviews here on Trip Advisor. My expectations were pretty high and White Stallion Ranch did not disappoint! Everything about this place is amazing and so well organized. I was very impressed with how smoothly everything went (food service at meal times; mounting/dismounting for rides, etc.). WSR has been in business for a long time and they really know what they are doing. It's such a peaceful location - the views of the clear blue sky, mountains and desert took my breath away every day. My room was so beautiful and comfortable. The food was great. Everyone I met from the owners to the other guests to the employees and wranglers were the nicest people! I went to the ranch alone but I came home with new friends from all over the world! The horses are great at their jobs and are well taken care of. There are a number of options for riding and activities each day - something for everyone to do. This was an action-packed / get-up-early-every-day kind of vacation and I loved every minute of it. It was a dream come true for me and I already decided I'm going back next year! Happy trails!
From the first moment we arrived, to the moment we left, this was an amazing vacation. Driving up was a dream come true for anybody who wants to be at a dude ranch. The beautiful horses, the beautiful land, and beautiful mountains; it was all perfect. The service was wonderful. Check in was easy, and everyone that helped us, be it meals, booking rides, mountain climbing, and all the evening entertainment, it was all just so enjoyable, because everyone was so accommodation, and kind. The food was great! I was a bit concerned with buffet, but it was excellent at every meal we had. Our room was very nice. Lots of room for kids to move, and plenty of private space for my husband and I. The rides were our favorite part. We loved having the same horse for our days there, and my children cried when we left; they wanted to take their horses home. I would absolutely recommend the White Stallion Ranch. When I asked my children which they liked better, Disney or White Stallion Ranch, they said, "White Stallion is 100% better than Disney.
After visiting a not-so-perfect guest ranch last summer, my wife and I were told about the White Stallion Ranch and decided to to book a trip. Let me tell you, it was everything we wanted it to be. Every person we encountered offered a friendly smile or kind word. The reception area was professional and greeted us with information along with humor, as well as being available to answer any questions we had or just have a good old chat with about the day's adventures. The rides are truly amazing and second to none. You can take part in fast rides, slow rides, mountain rides, sunset rides, beer and cheeto rides.... the list goes on. The only thing that they make you do at The White Stallion is do what you want to do, or in my case, what you don't want to do. I like riding, but not as much as my family. They could ride everyday, all day, and be happy. That's what it's all about. The food is great and the cookouts and indian oven dinners are world class. The food isn't like the Four Seasons, but that's not what we expected. It was good and offered choices, the dining area very comfortable and the place settings. Our room was clean, with a sitting area, decorated with true tastes of the Old West. It honestly felt like we were honored guests. You really do get the feel that the room your in is your home. The house keeping staff were also amazingly friendly and often wanted to chat about how our day was going. The facilities are clean and well organized, with lots to do. The games room, bar area, basketball court, swimming pool, hot tub, internet suite, cinema and gym are all amazingly clean and just what you need after a great days riding. The ranch is quiet and relaxing...there were not commercial vehicles driving by your cabin or a main highway creating lots of noise. I would like to say thankyou to every single person at The White Stallion for making our vacation the success it was. Everyone was remarkable in their own unique way.
