The Grand Hotel & Suites Toronto

Recent guest reviews

The hotel is in downtown Toronto. The street it is on is not very busy so it was very quiet. It is close to Yonge St and all the main attractions. The main receptionist are super friendly as was all the staff. Some of the furniture is worn down.

The only downfall is parking is ridiculous in Toronto. There is a lot of construction going close by, but walking around the city it seemed like it was everywhere. The staff was very courteous and the rooms stayed clean. Breakfast was pretty good, better than the usual hotel breakfast.

The exterior of the hotel does not reflect the lovely lobby, as windows are dirty and exterior is drab. The lobby is quite nice with fresh flowers and a nice welcoming area to sit. We checked into a double room with 2 queen beds. The room is a nice size with a seating area, and fridge/small kitchen area. The rooms are quite tired, with vertical blinds that don't operate properly, and have several slats that have been replaced over time that are longer/shorter than the others. Beds are adequate, although sheets are pilled and pillows are extremely uncomfortable- hard as a rock. The bathroom was quite small with little space to keep toiletries at hand for getting ready. The attention to clean was missing, as I noticed mold in the corners on the floor near the tub. These details are what make this hotel OK, instead of good. Breakfast was fine, with hot and cold options, although busy at peak hours. The restaurant could easily improve the flow of traffic at the buffet by creating a 2 sided serving table instead of pushed against the railing. Seems like simple fixes by giving attention to the details.

The hotel was a little off the beaten path, but only half a mile from the subway and 1.5 miles from Union station. The hotel had a wonderful staff, and a lovely decor. The free breakfast was very good and run very efficiently. The room had a small kitchen area. The bathroom was a tad small, but fine. The rooftop hottubs were great. I would stay here again.

Overall had a great experience would recommend and i will visit again.

The only reason it didn't get 5 stars all around is the location. While it is very convenient by foot and public transit to everything, the immediate area is not so great. However, for now, until it becomes surrounded by skyscrapers, it also means fantastic views from the rooms and rooftop. We got a great deal on the room online and loved every minute of the rooftop hot tubs, indoor pool, and semi-formal breakfast buffet - they even had soy milk for coffee! Loved it, have already recommended to friends, Toronto is an amazing city, but you won't want to leave the hotel if you stay here.

Our flight to Toronto got in about 7am and we arrived to the hotel at around 8am. We knew it was a long shot but we tried to see if we could check in early. Unfortunately there weren't any 2 bedroom suites available yet. They said they would call us if one became available earlier than the normal check in time. We went to grab some breakfast and walked around downtown and got a call around noon! Upon entering our room on the 17th floor (nice view of the city) there was a weird smell so we opened the windows, it disappeared later in the day. The room was clean but looked a bit dated, and there were some scuffs on the walls (maybe from suitcases) that I thought should've been removed. One bedroom had a queen sized bed the other a king. We took the king, and after sitting on it there was a huge dip in the middle. It was worse when it was time to sleep, I had to put a pillow in the middle and stay on the side so I wouldn't keep rolling down. One weekday morning we went down for the buffet breakfast, only to find out it ends at an earlier time than the weekend! The staff was so nice to give us some plates and still let us help ourselves to the remaining food. Overall it's a great hotel (be it a little dated) with excellent staff, free breakfast, pool and rooftop jacuzzi, and not too far from everything.

Beatiful Hotel. The room was VERY spacious! Felt like a suite. Loved the city view. The only thing I wish I could change is the quality of the pillows.... they were too hard for my taste. Other than that, I highly recommend it. Clean pool and jacuzzi.

Fantastic hotel with great city views. Staff, breakfast, pools, rooftop hot tubs all extremely nice. Would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is nice enough and the breakfast buffet was great. Hotel room is a little dated, but the real problem for us was the banging and slamming of doors ALL night long and morning long. Doors are heavy and loud! Neighboring room had guests in and out and talking without respect for those sleeping at midnight. Another neighboring room had a domestic issue of some sort and she was screaming and carrying on every night and every morning. We contacted the front desk and they were aware, as she had been there for an extended time. Location is not the most convenient, but easy to get Uber to and from and fees weren't too costly.

Such a beautiful hotel and the breakfast buffet was amazing!!! Will definitely be back soon!

The breakfast variety could have been a little better. Hate that we weren't allowed to take our breakfast up to our rooms. The room service prices are ridiculous. However the facilities provided were awesome the staff was great.

The hotel is a clean and comfortable hotel which is close to everything downtown. The free breakfast is a plus. Definitely would stay there again!

The Staff was great they were nice and friedly and helpful. They all had to work on christmas but did not have one staff member look like they did not want to be there. Best experience I have had with a hotel on a holiday.

My wife and I were here on business and we fully enjoyed the hotel. It had everything we look for including: full hot breakfast included, gym with sauna, cool lobby and drink area, great hotel staff and big rooms! They even had two extras that were great perks...including a free hotel shuttle to the downtown core and a rooftop Jacuzzi!

We upgraded to the Junior Suite, which is really a small two bedroom apartment. Everything was convenient and comfortable. My girls loved the hot tubs on the roof, even in November.

Only complaint is the area surrounding the hotel is a little rough. The hotel and staff are great.

Central to downtown. Within walking distance to shopping and many good quality restaurants. Continental buffet breakfast included very good quality and selection. Would stay here again when visiting Toronto anytime.

Overall, I loved my stay at this hotel. Staff is happy to have you there your entire visit (not just when you check in.) Breakfast buffet is not a joke. It includes anything you can think of that is Breakfast related: scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon strips, potatoes, variety of breads, muffins, croissants, yougurts, coffee, juices, teas .. etc! If you stay in Toronto at this hotel you don't need a car. I rented a car and furthest I drove was 5 miles. (Public transportation is cheap if you purchase a week pass). Although, it's nice to have a car if you wanna do shopping. China town is right there. You can buy superfoods there like Mangosteen, Rambutan, Pitaya or Lansium. I bought all of these plus Star fruit -> delicious!

Sauna wouldn't work neither did the shower in the women's change room of the pool area. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. for the price paid I would not think I got my moneys worth.
