Located about 10 minute walk from Otsuka Station JR Yamanote line, hotel is small. However, the staff are friendly and helpful. The room is small which is typical of Japanese hotel room. The room is clean, bed is comfy and pillows have memory foam, the toilet and shower is also clean. It is has TV, coffee maker, small refrigerator, microwave oven, small sink, a stove. It's perfect just like a small full service apartment. We got one with free breakfast. There's a 24 hour restaurant beside the hotel where we had our breakfast. There is a wide selection of food and the staff were kind and nice. We liked our stay.
Use JR Otsuka station for access the hotel, a bit far by walking from ikebukuro. There’re Family Mart & 7-11 near by, while 24-hrs restaurant Matsuya is just few steps away. Room is old, small room size when compare with other standard room in Tokyo. Otsuka station is quite far from center of Tokyo. It takes 15-20 mins to Shinjuku or Shibuya.
A no frills Mystays, this one is handily located a short walk from Otsuka station on the Yamanote line. Otsuka is a low key and pleasant residential area just away from Ikebukuro. The blocks around the station are lively and full of eating and drinking spots. A bonus if the hotel's position next to the quaint but effective Toden Arakawa streetcar line. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The room was very small. The bathroom the smallest I saw in Tokyo. To get to the washroom has a step one foot high, not very good if go to the washroom in the middle of the night. The toilet was attached to the wall, you almost have to do you business sideways. The carpet wasn't clean, with stains. At the time of the check in was told that cleaning service is not provide during the days you stay, if you need new towels go the front desk and ask. The staff was very nice and helpful. The breakfast is in a small restaurant open 24 hours, what put me off was the fact the food was in refrigerated shelves, but you have no idea for how long they are there. So I didn't take a chance, specially when the main food is fish and poultry.
By Japanese standards, the room was not the smallest. By space is very limited. The bathroom experience is quite something. It is a tiny plastic cabin with a big step to get into (that means low ceiling incidentally). Carpet is stained and everything feels several decades old. I guess you can find much worst in Tokyo. But fellow traveller, don’t keep you hopes of comfort too high with this one despite some advantageous photos. It is a budget control choice....
It has all the Amani ties you need during your stay, if they are not in the room they are at the reception, such as coffee/tea, face toner/cream, washing lotion and so on. Small kitchenette with microwave, dish washing sponge and washing liquid. Perfume spray in the bottle and a vacuum cleaner in the room as well. Quite a climb up to the bathroom, has not seen such a thing before. No hair conditioner (didn't ask at the reception either). Very quite AC and 2 different pillows to choose from. Just 6 min walk from sunshine city, which is worth a visit. Will definitely recommend this hotel!
Staff was very polite as always and tried their best despite language barrier. You get your sheets, soap, etc by the desk every time you need new ones and throw the old ones next to the washing machines. Resturaunts and other shops in the area open 24/7 and very close to sunshine city. A bit of a walk if you want to take the Yamanote line otherwise you can just take the sakura line outside. If you are staying more than 4 nights then I recommend a hotel with cleaning service since it can be a struggle if you come home late every night and need to change and clean everything by yourself.
i booked the room because i love ikebukuro very much. ikebukuro a nice place, you can go to sunshine city and alot of cheap shop there. the room very clean, and big enough to open the suitcase. check in and check out very smooth and i am happy with the room. definitely will back if i stay in tokyo
It’s something between a hotel and a hostel - almost everything is like in hotel except you don’t have room service and everyday cleaning. You can change your towels at the reception. It’s a clean place. Rooms have mini fridge and microwave. The staff is really nice. Taking a price into consideration, this accommodation is a very good deal.
I stay in this hotel for 8 nights. Location was very good only 10 mins by walk to JR Otauka station and 1.5 kilometers to Ikebukuro station. There are two 7-11 shops near hotels and 3 restaurants. Hotel also have laundry room, washing machine 200 JYP and Dryer 100 JYP per 15 mins. Vending machine for detergent 100 JYP per pack. Security system is good, front gate will lock after midnight which you need to press password to access. Receptionist service 24 hours. There are 2 vending machine for water and soft drinks at lobby. The room quite small as standard of Tokyo hotel but very convenience.
